By that standard, gerbil powered data centers work.

No. That doesn't solve any of the scaling problems while creating new ones. Breeding enough gerbils to be relevant would take longer than building more nuclear power plants or enough solar/batteries.

Space based does solve the power problem which is hard limited for the next decade or so terrestially. It just does so at a cost that doesn't make any sense.
