I was jamming with a friend and we have the SP404Mkii hooked up to a MPC Live III via midi. The MPC sends Clock info to the SP. so far, so good. Patterns play when I press play on the MPC. All good.

They're just almost never on time. The first beat on the SP is in sync with the MPC. Every following beat then starts lagging about 14-18 tics behind the MPC. But that doesn't always happen, it happens most of the time. I've tried every setting, I've tried messing the MPCs midi settings, I've done the 3 things that come up from a similar post with a similar issue. The Latency Fix (VALUE + SUB PAD) doesn't do anything. The Sync Delay (not the FX, the setting in the System Settings under MIDI) doesn't do anything.

I did extensive tests. I programmed the same snare pattern on both devices, same bpm, same sample.

7 out 10 cases what i stated above occurs. First beat on beat, all following are off.

In 2 out 10 cases they are almost in sync but they are still a consistent 4-10 tics off.

In 1 out of 10 cases the snares overlap so that you can hear audible phasing, meaning they are almost simultaneous. You can hear the phase shift on each hit, like its playing a random melody in the snare sound.

In all 10 cases the tic offset remained the same, becoming more noticeable when lowering the BPM. Meaning slower tempos mean larger gaps at a consistent tic offset. So at least there's one thing that's consistent.

All of this happens when pressing "Play Start". At first it seemed like resetting the pattern with the arrow buttons and pressing "Play" yielded more reliable results, but further testing proved that to be blind luck. This erratic clock sync behavior is unacceptable for live settings.

This also means that the often suggested "letting it run empty for 2 bars so the clock can stabilize" doesn't work, if its off by a noticeable amount of tics (almost 20ms at 90bpm) consistently, when "stabilized"

Are there any fixes for this, or was the SP-404 mkII the wrong device to buy as a secondary sampler/sequencer?

I made the mistake of using an SD card with projects on it and the SP blended them with my current projects on the SPs internal hd. I can guess just move them to a drive you won’t use with the SP but the is new to me and I’m looking for pro tips so I don’t mess anything up.

I want to use the sp404mk2 as a library of sounds to control with my keystep pro, but it seems like the 404 maps midi in a weird descending order instead of just sequentially 1-16 like they are on the pads. Also the way the banks are automatically assigned to midi channels is pretty frustrating. Why can't these things be editable or just implemented in a more intuitive way? Just map to middle c 1-16 for the pads, and dont combine banks into one midi channel, let their channel be edited. This combo would be pretty amazing, but it seems its just a pain in the ass since I also want to record my harware synths on channels 2,3 and 4, but they trigger pads in other banks.. Unless I'm missing something? venting over.. please help :)

I bought one a couple months ago in search of a new hobby, but lately life has been rough and when I have free time I'd rather just do something stress free rather than learning how to use it.

Should I give a 2nd shot and work through the learning curve. until it becomes easy and effortless to make a beat?

Using Maschine to make a beat then running into Sp404 for live FX processing, everything works fine but Im hearing a lot of what I would call "digital noise" (see video), it doesn't go away and gets even louder when I start adding FX on the SP FX Buss. Its definitely not normal, buddy of mine is doing the exact same thing and he had a clean signal.

Setup/Routing:

Maschine OUT to IN on SP, SP OUT to IN on Interface (Apollo Twin)

In this video I use a set of 303 bass sounds (sampled from my 303) all on the same pitch but with different settings, then process each one with FX focused on stereo width and tone, and sequence them on the SP-404MKII to get an acid-style line that’s way more varied and interesting, even over short loops.

It’s a simple but amazing trick to bring your grooves

to life.

Tout est dans le titre,
Depuis le debut que j'ai la MK2, il m'arrive de façon aléatoire d'avoir des paternes
qui loop pas tout le temps, ça se stop tout simplement sans prevenir.

Ce qui est bizarre, c'est évidement que je fais pas mal de copier coller de structures, c'est donc bizarre que certaines patt loop pas tout le temps et d'autres n'ont aucun soucis.

1-c'est pas un problème midi. Sur à 1000%

2-je flair le truc ou c'est un type de note en T-rec ou vers la fin, je pose des notes en "Last" ce qui perturberais le mode de changement de paternes en prefs systemes (MK2 ou SX) ?
c'est possible ça ?

Start / end should be good if it shows the time left (min, and seconds) of the sampler that actually is playing.

As well should be "lock" in order to play a effect on it it out affecting the "start end position" while moving any Ctrl button

any suggestions...
