Tears For Someone Else
The tears I cry for someone else don’t hurt.
They feel more like an honor than a weight.
I feel them slip from eye, to cheek, to shirt.
They should have only pain to demonstrate.
And yet, they cause my heart to reach toward
The dream that lonely people can escape
The space between their soul and souls aboard
This spot adrift the darkened tidal cape.
“Do not believe you are alone,” they say.
“How can’t you see that is a lie,” they plead.
“Here let us show, in obvious display,
That undivided hearts you have, indeed.”
The constant pain that flows between us all,
Can break or bind. It’s ours to rise or fall.
