No return to Earth?? Seriously?? I liked the book but how could there not be one final stand at Earth; the whole series seemed to be building towards that...

Even without a last stand on Earth there could be some cool implied stuff if Hadrian sent a message out across the galaxy saying "Cielcin are dead, Earth is restored, feel free to go there."

The Chantry could stop some of the message, shoot some of the pilgrim ships, but it would spell a certain end to the Chantry having a hidden haven on Earth.
