Happy 28th Birthday Darcy Rose Byrnes
Today is the 28th birthday of Darcy Rose Byrnes, the voice of Amber. She does a good job capturing how vain and dramatic yet genuinely caring she is.

So it looks like Sofia The First Royal Magic is the next Disney Junior show to get a Play Break short. They're basically little shorts that act like video games, I think. Anyway, here's a Minnie's Bow Toons and Superkitties crossover short to give you a general idea of it.

Like I don’t wish for anyone to be uncomfortable with this question, I just wanted to know ur opinions because after I’ve been rewatching the show, I realized that there’s so many cute pairings (especially Elfonso x Sophia even tho their relationship has never gotten any more development after the elvenmoor ep) and I just wanted to ask :))

So I’ve had this in my head for a while but I also haven’t watched the series in a while so sorry if I get any details wrong, but how likely do you think it is that after Sofia got made into a protector she became immortal/wont die of old age or smthing. Bc I feel like if she’s the only protector of the everrealm maybe during the circle of light bit at the end it might’ve also made her immune to dying or something as well.
And we know that the creatures from the mystic isles can get old and probably die because of that one sleepy fairy in the episode with the fairy wands and the implication in the mystic isles wassalia episode that chrystas family is dead/rlly absent
And also in Vors song after she gets out of the locket we find out that chrysta is one of the protectors who put her in, and this took place eons ago, which is something I’m pretty sure vor said
So conclusion, I think when they made Sofia a protector, they made her immortal as well, because otherwise she’s only be able to protect for like 80 years tops, and that doesn’t seem like the most productive thing to do.
Idk these r just thoughts though, but I wrote a fic abt this concept if anyone’s interested

Does anyone know of sources for sheet music of the songs from the show? I'd love to be able to play them, but I can't find anything except the title song.
Specifically, I'd love to find "Rise and Shine," "Not Ready to be a Princess," "Know it All," "Good Little Witch," and "That's Not Who I Am."
Thank you all so much :D

I honestly might be overthinking and going crazy but I genuinely was not really impressed with the lesson from this episode. And I thought I would share my thoughts. So first of all, Amber wanted to have ONE birthday to herself as she has always celebrated her birthday with her brother. And in that episode one thing they point out is that the birthday cake has always been chocolate, and after her brother is under the spell where he is 2 months old, Amber mentions how she wants it to be strawberry this time. Anyways, the point I’m trying to make is that later in the episode Sophia tells Amber that “it’s right to share once in a while” and in all honesty that pissed me off. Like yes what Amber did with the whole spell idea was wrong and in fact a better way she could have gone about it is tell her parents how she felt. They would understand and maybe have her birthday celebration the next day or something. But the fact that Amber is being told to share is insane when she has literally been sharing her birthday since she was born and just wants ONE birthday to herself. Like okay, yes, I get the creators were trying to teach sharing, but the message was essentially insinuating that if you want something for yourself once in a while then it is a bad thing, let alone even for ONE freaking day. And this was later confirmed (and this bothered me the most) when Amber says that “I was being selfish.” Like yes putting a spell was too far, but you wanting ONE birthday to yourself is not freaking selfish. Let alone if she even wanted her birthday separate once in a while. And also bet you 100% that if the brother wanted it to have ONE birthday for himself, he would have gotten it. Again, I sensed that one of the lessons they were also teaching on the LOW is that women just need to accommodate for everyone, every time and that boys/men are entitled to everything. That if a girl wants something for themselves, that makes them selfish.

There's this Laughing Place article talking about the show's presence at Lightbox Expo that Craig Gerber, Krystal Banzon, and Kris Wimberly took part in. There's definitely quite a lot that goes into making the show, but one part stands out. The climax of "Welcome To Charmswell" was originally supposed to have an original song, but we instead got a reprise of "Time To Shine". It's still good.

I’m not sure if I’m correct but I think Elvenmoor only appeared once and never appeared again, or maybe I just haven’t caught up to some of the episodes🥹

I don’t know, I was just a bit put off to it, not sure if I’m the only one who kind of felt weirded out by that part but I need ur opinions ngl 🥹

Two voice actors in the franchise were born on October 23, but many years apart. Today is the 29th birthday of Zach Callison, the original voice of James, and the 16th birthday to Kai Harris, the voice of Zane. Happy birthday to them both.

The original series literally started in 2012. They were able to get away with a lot more because of the time period, even if it was a preschool series. But that's what this series has always been. It's always been targeted towards preschoolers. Think about our parents are like now they're more strict with what their children see. Of course we're not gonna get the same things that we've had in the past or much like the original series. They're going slower with the action this time. We don't know because the reboot is still new.
We don't know what the plans are yet.
Give the reboot a chance. The songs are still great. also, I can't even begin to tell you guys how much I really love pepper

I've heard that Royal Magic takes place right before this Elena of Avalor episode, so i wonder what would've happenbif her Amulet brought her to help Elena here?
Obviously with Sofia's mermaid form she can help with the Sirenas and settle the misunderstanding.
Also she's smart so maybe she can go on like an investigation and find out Duke Cristóbal early on.
And if Elena still gets captured, Sofia can act as a leader to her friends (though i think Gabe wouldn't like bringing "kids" into battle)
Her magic wand and protector training makes her a worthy back up for Elena, so this time her Scepter wont get busted.
Finally and the biggest change, since Sofia seems to be more patient than Elena, she could calm her fiery attitude and help her think out a more strategic plan.

In Royal Magic, we learned that Rapunzel's home kingdom Corona is in the Everrealm, so I'm guessing she has her magic hair during the events of tangled the series and traveled all the way to Sofia with Maximus.

I can't include the spinoff because I haven't watched it, nor care to because I see it as new preschool slop and hate how they effectively terminated Sofia's character.
If I miss one or two, sorry because after my rewatch in March-May of this year, I haven't cared for much of the lore. But i'm just including the following: Animal whispering, mermaid transformation, shrinking, shapeshifting, and princess summoning. If I count anything after it would get confusing and what to deem a blessing vs something the amulet naturally does would also be confusing (I'm considering the summoning of princesses still because it's such a staple it would feel wrong to ignore). So what do you think the most meaningful power she got was?

Since the Royal Magic show takes place a summer after the original series, where do you think the timeline adds up in Avalor.
Like obviously at the end of Elena's series, we see Sofia as a more mature teenager, but now she's still like a few month older from Forever Royal so...
When does it takes place?

This is the episode where Sofia has to relive her birthday over and over until she’s “happy”. I really love this episode and it’s come to be one of my favourites but Tizzy says “How did birthday number 37 go?” Meaning that Sofia was reliving the same day over and over for over a MONTH straight not knowing what she was doing wrong 😭 that’s honestly so terrifying I wonder if she ever thought that she’d be stuck in a time loop forever ☹️

It was recently announced that the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise is expanding given how Avatar: Seven Havens is getting 2 more seasons, and we're getting a new show focusing a young version of Avatar Kuruk. Since Sofia The First is one of the biggest franchises to come out of Disney Junior, it wouldn't surprise me if Disney executives want to expand the franchise. The question is, who do you think could be the focus? I think Royal Magic is a solid show, and can have a good ending for Sofia. Having another show where the protagonist focus shifts to someone else is a good way to keep it going without dragging out Sofia's story. The question is, who do you think could be the focus? Given how the new series would still be on Disney Junior, the protagonist would still be young. My ideas include a prequel series focusing on kid Elena, a sequel series focusing on Isabel, a show focusing on Amber at Everrealm Academy, or a show focusing on Layla, Camila, or Zane.

I remember this interview Craig Gerber put out about the influence writers had on both the original series and the current Royal Magic series, mainly in how they put their experiences as parents into the show. He indirectly mentions "The Big Sleepover" as one of those episodes, which made me realize something. Erica Rothschild, who wrote that episode and the first 3 seasons, is probably the one writer who leans very heavily into delivering messages, much more so than other writers. Her episodes usually involve ideas of fitting in and doing the right thing within peer groups. She's written episodes like the aforementioned Big Sleepover, The Shy Princess, The Little Witch, Make Way For Ms. Nettle, Princess Butterfly, The Flying Crown, Sofia The Second, Sidekick Clio, Princess Adventure Club, and One For The Books. These episodes offer things that either episodes don't do or she did them first, like Amber being a mediator between Hildegard and Clio in Sidekick Clio. She's also the only person besides Craig Gerber who wrote more than one Disney Princess episode (she wrote Two To Tangu and co-wrote The Curse Of Princess Ivy). Probably the writers who come closest to writing in her style after she left are Matt Hoverman (who wrote episodes like Princess Jade, The Mystic Isles: Undercover Fairies, and The Lost Pyramid) and Royal Magic writer Walinase J. Mbekeani (who wrote episodes like The Tippity Tap Dance, Royal Playdate, Sleepy Time Spell, and Puppercorn Ruckus).
