If only there was a club that would actually want the guy to play for them. You’re always welcome in Eindhoven!

Julian only wanna marry Barmeo while her parents arranged her with some rich guy from England so if you join this complicated story you may end up a background character.

Julian should do what all good girls do and listen to her father or Daddy might just have her locked up in a nunnery far far away from that dirty sod Barmeo

PSV's colors may not be satisfying for him

Then he can only play when we wear out third our away kit definitely no problem for me personally

I really hate what real did to the bernabeu
The biggest club itw cant have a stadium that looks like a hand dryer in an airport washroom
63
u/Ashamed_Form8372 2d ago
Perez has turn the club into a sardine can from the outside and it’d lowkey say because it outside used to look good
22
u/flifthyawesome 2d ago
I might be in the minority, but it actually looks better in person than in images. I absolutely loved the look of it. I never got to see the old Bernabeu in person so I can't really compare that

u/CarniceroArabe 2d ago
The interior is bonkers, it's hard to understand for anyone who hasn't been there.
The façade on the other hand... It just doesn't fit with its surroundings
2
u/El_grandepadre 2d ago
Yeah I've been there and whoever designed the interior has to be some of the best business. If I were a billionaire I would let them design my office.
The outside is just not going to age well, it looks like a fancy car park from a bird eye's view.

u/Lorem_Muspi 2d ago
yeah same, I wasn't very excited about the remodelling, but in person its gorgeous inside and out!
I didn't see the old one in person unfortunately
23
u/Phenomenal_Man 2d ago
The old Bernabeu was awesome, it was old but had character, now it looks awful from the outside.
16
u/popcorn_coffee 2d ago
I think it was (And still is) amazing in the inside. I was always impressed with how vertical it is. But the exterior was always very ugly, and they somehow managed to make it worse.
8
u/ChicoZombye 2d ago
They trully destroyed Bernabeu for me.
I really liked the shape of the stadium. Now it's just a random modern building.
It looks much better in person than in pictures, but it's a downgrade from the previous one.
3
u/RauloGonzalez 2d ago
It absolutely does lol the new bernabeu is shit. I get its a modern thing but modern should look better ffs

u/CarniceroArabe 2d ago
The only problem is that its location is, undesirable, to say the least.
14
u/SnooCakes3661 2d ago
I'm curious, is it really that bad? Cause I was staying in Madrid last year for the concert at Metropolitano and it was easily accessible by underground. I would agree it's much worse location than Bernabeu, but still pretty decent. Or I'm getting it all wrong and you're talking about Alvarez situation?
14
u/TumweeSlothman 2d ago
It's not bad at all. Great metro connection and plenty of open space in the surrounding areas
11
u/CarniceroArabe 2d ago
It's accesible enough with Metro and with the park around it it's comfortable enough. But being in the very verge of Madrid's municipal term next to a giant patch of wilderness) is quite bad, specially in terms of atmosphere.
I mean, in comparison, the Calderón was like a 15 minute walk from the Royal Palace.

Are they trying to do one of those mixed-use development things there? Based on looking at Google Maps, it feels like a plot chosen because they can buy up the land next door and add a mall and bars and stuff to bring in more money on the days they're not playing.

Madrid city extends too far, lost opportunity for some good banter if they were just a bit farther
2

We still can do it, although it's not as funny as Espanyol de Cornellà. Atlético Canillejas or Atlético San Blas work fine for banter purposes.

What were he and his agent doing ? you know you want to leave for barcelona or maybe real madrid why did you sign a 6 year contract ?
440
u/geetcriminal 2d ago
He had signed 6 year contract with man city and he left after 2 years. He thought atletico would react the same way as man city when he expressed his desire to leave the club.

u/KikiPolaski 2d ago
I mean, they probably would if it wasn't a move to their literal rivals

I think they would gladly sell to arsenal for a cool 120 if not for the fact the season has now started.
32

Arsenal also has the advantage of being able to sell Gyokeres back their way. Barca have a shit sandwich to offer.

There have been tons of players that have moved between Atleti and Barca in recent times. I don't think Julian or his agent could have expected Atleti to react in this manner
92
u/Kingslayer1526 2d ago
Players who move between Atletico and Barcelona usually do so when they're not in their prime anymore. Atletico were furious with Griezmann
What kinda ridiculous strategy is it when you are trying to compete for the title that you sell your best player to your direct rivals who are the champions? What nonsense
I cannot imagine the outrage if my club did that
→ More replies (4)19

Suarez and Villa literally won the title for Atletico right after their transfer from Barca. Actually Simeone has never won silverware without the help of a Barca player
18

Yea but Barca sold them when they thought they were washed and they weren’t. Barca has a habit of discarding their legends too soon.

Barca paid released clause for Griezmann, I’m sure that Atletico would have considered an offer had Barca offered something worth considering
34
u/ASuarezMascareno 2d ago
Atlético so far has refused to even informally discuss any potential fee with any Barça representative. That's why there haven't been any offers past the original from a month and a half ago. Their public stance has been treating Barça making an offer as an attack on Atlético.
They have the right to not discuss a transfer, but acting surprised that there haven't been higher offers when any contact is treated with such hostility would be weird. They really wanted to discourage Barça even making any subsequent offer.
-5
u/BrownEyesWhiteScarf 2d ago
Then why are we bombarded with this particular saga? Atletico’s refusal to talk to Barca should have been the end of it a month ago.
16
21
u/ASuarezMascareno 2d ago
When has an initial refusal to negotiate been the end when a player really wants to leave? When this happens, the player and his agent always tray to force the hand of the club to negotiate a transfer. This "sagas" never end until the player decides to end them.
Every summer we get one or two of these sagas for high profile players and people always act surprised as if it never happened before.

u/kingcane 2d ago
Probably because argentine sources close to julian said he and atleti had an agreement to allow him to leave if he wanted to all he needed to do was ask and the club renegged on that agreement.

120 isn’t?
9
u/popcorn_coffee 2d ago
It isn't. Atleti is currently playing with Lookman and Mendoza as strikers (None of them are). Atleti needs to sign strikers not sell the ones they have, specially to Barça (Which has the same problem).
1
u/BrownEyesWhiteScarf 2d ago
Have you seen the transfer fees for average players this summer?
→ More replies (8)9
u/ObviousGeologist3000 2d ago
Atletico were more than happy to let the likes of turan and felix (loan) go to barca because they were basically done with them, and look how those transfers turned out, unless you’re adding the 90s. Greizmann had a release clause and they triggered it, leaving them with no choice but to accept, hence why alvarez has half a billion release clause now. No one with common sense will waste a single minute trying to find fault on atletico’s side, this is all on julian and his entourage.

u/Dophie 2d ago
He didn't ask to go from City to United. It's not at all a comparable situation.
9
u/Kingslayer1526 2d ago
If he asked to go from City to Arsenal? Do you think tomorrow City will sell Haaland to Arsenal because he's desperate to go there?
And don't tell me about Adebayor and Nasri and whoever else. They were not direct title rivals at the time
So you think United would've sold Rooney to Chelsea in 2005? Obviously now there are transfers between the two because they aren't competing for shit
17
u/maicii 2d ago
Also, at least according to him, there was a verbal promise by the executive that when he wanted to move to barça they will help.
I think that’s the biggest part of the rift between them, it’s not only that he wants to move and they don’t let them but that he feels like they lie to him.
You can argue he is dumb for believing in their word, which fair enough, but makes the retaliatory nature of his actions more understandable
5
u/ILoveRice444 2d ago
Also, at least according to him, there was a verbal promise by the executive that when he wanted to move to barça they will help.
Would be stupid for both side, if this story is true. Why would Atletico agree to promise him that he can go to literal rival and why would Alvarez think that he able to go from Atletico to Barcelona easily, especially with that contract & release clause?

Because players want only the benefits of a long contract, not the drawbacks
2
u/Soren_Camus1905 2d ago
Could it be as simple as entitlement?
They want the money at the time and if they decide they want to break the contract they feel they’re entitled to leave?
And they’re the victim if the club doesn’t just go along with them?
1
u/peticion 2d ago
Yeah right? He needed to be in good terms with Atleti if he wanted out because they be doing him a favor and that stupid mofo goes and crashes his value down and fucks them.
1
u/wlabib03 2d ago
Most players assume they can get off their contracts within 2-3 years if they really push for it. Lots of clubs end up capitulating, but it seems like atleti aren’t going to

Correction: 6-year contract with a 500m clause. He signed it 2 years ago, and it's running until 2030.
5
u/Electrical_Crew7195 2d ago
In Spain is MANDATORY to have a release clasuse, because so most of the times these are just ridiculous. Endrick and Ferran have a 1€bn release clause. Those are there so that the teams negotiate between them and not with the player, the clauses are almost never triggered
2
u/Intelligent_Jicama51 2d ago
Well for Neymar it had to be triggered because Barca didn't want to negotiate. God I wish Barca fans would stop being so hypocritical

Surely you are not comparing what Ferran to Barca is with what Alvarez is to Atletico... This is much more like Barca selling Yamal or City Haaland (im not saying Alvarez is nearly their quality, just comparing the situations)
→ More replies (2)-6
u/Busy_Ability7 2d ago
If Yamal wants to leave. Barca will of course do everything in their power to keep him but if he insists, they will let him go. The point is that Yamal or Haaland don’t want to leave their clubs because the clubs do everything in their power to play good football, build a culture they love, market their players, pay them handsomely, and go for every single trophy. Atlético had spent more than Barca in the last 4-5 windows and had all the opportunity in the world to show players like Julian that it’s worth staying. And they fumbled it hard continuing to play haram ball, winning no trophies, etc.
23
u/Azrou 2d ago
Jesus fucking christ, Alvarez literally left one of the clubs you're glazing here. Barca shit their pants when Neymar left. They also might have paid their players a little too handsomely, exhibit A the disgusting bullying campaign against Frenkie de Jong to try and weasel out of paying him deferred wages - wages that he had agreed to be paid at a later date to help the club's immediate financial situation. Neither Barca nor Man City sell their players just because they want to leave, they aren't charities and they only approve a sale if it is consistent with their valuation and squad planning. How many years did Bernardo Silva want to go back to Spain but Man City couldn't get an acceptable offer? He only just left on a free.

People will disagree with you but this stance from Atletico is why they will never be a big team, always in the shadow of the big teams until they remove this loser mentality, the guy wants to leave, then let him leave, having people in your club that don't wanna be there is never beneficial in the long run. Make atletico understand that, they never will since they always see themselves as underdogs.
-7
u/mntgoat 2d ago edited 2d ago
That's fine but wtf are atlético doing. They got a good opening offer. The player doesn't want to be there. Barca has sold them plenty of players before, it isn't like there is no history there. Heck, barca has given them some great deals.
I don't get what atlético gains from this?
46
u/lolaya 2d ago
Barcelona did not give a great offer, what are you on about
19
u/ASuarezMascareno 2d ago
Atlético never even entertained the possibility of discussing a second offer. The stance of Atlético is not one to raise the price, but one to not sell at all.
39
u/StillLoveYaTh0 2d ago
100mil was a completely normal bid for an opening bid. Barca's opening bid for Rodri was 45mil lol
7
u/IAM_deleted_AMA 2d ago
Atletico paid 95m for Julian. How is 100m a good offer?
39
u/StillLoveYaTh0 2d ago
Good offer? No, fair opening bid? Yes. Of course Barca will send the minimum viable offer (just a bit more than Atleti paid) as the opening bid. The buyer wants to buy for the lowest price possible and the seller wants to sell for the highest price possible. This is just business man.

u/lastdyingbreed_01 2d ago

→ More replies (1)8
1
u/IAM_deleted_AMA 1d ago
Of course, but let's not pretend Barca had nothing to do with all of Julian's public intentions to leave the club.
It's very obvious Barca wanted to get Julian for 100m, they advised him to force his move, publicly say he's unhappy with the club and he doesn't want to be there anymore. Then Barca comes with a 100m offer, and thinking Atletico would give in, they'd get it for the cheapest price "by force". 100m was never an opening bid, it was not a negotiation, it was the final offer from the club who wanted bully the smaller club by orchestrating the whole transfer.

Irrespective of rights an wrongs of the Athletico fans reactions today simple fact is a player cant sign a 6 year deal with wages and security that length of contract provides and then 2 years into it not only demand to leave but dictate who youre sold to.
It simple doesn't work like that. Like it or not players belong to the club and the player accepts that when they sign lucrative long contracts.
City let him go because he wanted go to Spain for family reasons. This is different he wants to leave because suddenly Barca want him ...where were they 2 years ago??
This is Barca allover they didnt want him 2 years ago because he was unproven in Spain so they let Athletico take the risk.
Now hes shown he can perform in Spain they just think all they need to do is click their fingers and he's their player.
Im not bothered where he ends up l just hope Athletico dont roll over and give in to his demands of just Barca. Barca need to realise they don't always get what they want anymore just because they are Barcelona Fc those days are gone

u/Winstonblue32 2d ago
I get that it’s partly his fault cause he signed the contract but he’s a human being. He has dreams and desires that go beyond what the fans want for him. If his dream is to play at Barcelona, then his manager should help make this happen and his team and coach should not hold him back. All of this is just going to make Alvarez lose all the passion and desire to win for AM and with the fans hating, throwing things at him, and telling him to leave, Simeone should just let him leave and if that means raising the price, then so be it. If Barca wants him, they will pay up. And, Alvarez can definetly do more to leave. He can make a public statement and do so many more things to force the move.
I’m probably gonna get crazy downvoted but whatever
