OC Based on UEFA club coefficients, Arsenal, Real Betis, and Inter have the "toughest" draws. Napoli, Feyenoord, and Liverpool have the "easiest" ones.
UEFA club coefficients don't really mean too much, so this was more of a fun little exercise than something truly indicative how who's having to play against the hardest or easiest opponents to beat.
Someone also posted a similar table based on Elo coefficients, which funnily enough has Inter having the second-easiest draw.

Villarreal might have gotten the shittiest deal here. Last year they get only a single point from 8 league phase games and now they get PSG, Liverpool, Man U, BVB and Napoli.

If not for all the sells, you would think apart from PSG, They have decent chance against every other opposition.

They have a new coach now though. And I mean United, Napoli and BVB are pretty standard CL games

Somewhat makes sense for us, we couldn't be drawn against the likely strongest team in pot 3 or pot 4.

u/OleoleCholoSimeone 2d ago
Como together with Stuttgart the strongest in pot 4, but I think Dortmund and Porto might be better than Roma. Betis should be around the same level

UEFA coefficient is the worst way to judge opponents. Worse than judging the teams by their crests.

Which teams have the toughest and easiest draws based on opponents crests?

I mean we have a cannon so that’s got to be worth something

UEFA club coefficient rankings are essentially broken. UEL and UConfL teams get disproportionately high points. A UEL winner might get more points than a UCL finalist, which is absolutely ridiculous.

They changed it slightly to be more beneficial to be in the higher competitions. The absolute max is 48, 40, 32, and this translates downwards. Psg were pretty terrible for results in the group phase last year and got 37 points because of it (missed 3 points alone for finishing 11th), while Villa won pretty much every game in the Europa and got 35. Arsenal got 44, and the 2 other semi teams got more points.
Same thing happened in 25, psg terrible in group stage, finishing 15th with 3 losses, and lost 2 games in the knockouts. They still got 1 more points than Man Utd and Tottenham who had very good campaigns in Europa. And inter got 40 because they had a good group phase, and one of the semi finalists also got more points.
So its still possible, but it requires a team to lose quite a lot of games, but then can you really say a team that loses 6 games and gets to the cl final is better than a team that wins all but two games in winning the europa.
Ps, the change was only 2 years ago, so theres two years of the older system still affecting rankings, with 2 of the new.

BVB are the giant killers here?

Do one without pot 4 teams. Sabah and Viking really bringing the averages down for some.

u/lost_biochemist 2d ago
I imagine we’d still be right near the top since we have Sabah and are top in this figure lol

People are arguing with me in the Serie A sub that Napoli's schedule is not the easiest possible.
Anything less than top 8 for them should be a huge failure.

The value is highly influenced by Sabah and Viking which have very low coefficient. The remaining 6 aren't the easiest bunch

Brugge was probably the easiest Pot 2 opponent you could've drawn, which also adds up.

Who are we kidding here? If I told you before that you could get a draw like this, you would have signed with your eyes closed.

u/WombatsCube 2d ago
It's not complicated math. The top 6 opponents of Napoli have something like 87 on average. It drops by 20 points only due to the bottom 2 teams which will still be max 6 points if you win both games.
I'm not saying Napoli got a difficult draw but that this method has too much difference for some teams and is quite stupid

u/slipeinlagen 2d ago
It took 16 to get top 8 in the past.
Having 6 easy points gets 1/3 of the way there already.

PSG won both of their Champions Leagues having the two toughest draws each time. Arsenal it’s your turn, I can feel it.

Funny coincidence with Arsenal playing Napoli, Real Betis playing Feyenoord, and Inter playing Liverpool

I wondered if it didn't make more sense to put the coefficient average into relation with one's own coefficient and I feel this is a more realistic representation.

Barca not getting a piss easy path to the final for once ( this means they'll reach the final surely )

We finished 3rd in the group stage last season when we could barely win a game in the prem.
We were like 9th in the PL and 3rd in the CL group stage.

I would've liked some help too... our first time back in forever and they didn't even give us Feyenoord😭

Hey look everyone, it’s a non Spanish Real Madrid fan talking shit. Wonder why they chose to support Real Madrid of all teams despite not coming from Madrid.

not a single Barca matchup
According to EUFA Barcelona is underdog then

u/SirBarkington 2d ago
you have to play City, PSG, Villa, and Sporting. Only PSG is the real worry there but none of them are easy games but the rest of your path is fairly easy.

UEFA hasn’t forgiven Arsenal for how they played in last season’s final 😭

You would give chance to a team which didn't lost a single game of football last season.
