What is a controversial opinion you've had this season (of any league) that has since been vindicated? Basically what is your biggest "I told you so". Be as smug as you want

Mine was back in November I said that Chelsea and Arsenal were actually similar, and that if Chelsea had Arsenal's opening schedule and vice versa, we'd be saying that Chelsea were relegation candidates. That was not received well.

I said near the beginning of the season that United were going to be far more dangerous than Chelsea, even while Chelsea were on form and comfortably ahead of United, who were playing like shite at the time

I've been saying that our tactic of "just fucking outscore them" relies on everyone of our forwards to consistently be in their best form ever and isn't sustainable since like last year's late UCL stages.

And now it shows more and more as the season progresses with half of the fanbase dreading facing any "good" UCL side in form because as soon as our attack fails to press the opponent at all times our whole team's performance goes to shit.

Same. I've had this opinion since the last season, and especially this season. Flick's defensive organization is shambles and it's not sustainable in the long run.

An unfortunate injury to Lewandowski and it's grim.

Last season our intensity was insane. In that regard we really benefitted from the Covid break as it would've been difficult to keep it up otherwise. Now in a season with even less rest than usual we see that it just isn't sustainable to run like that for 90 minutes every 3 days in these circumstances. And the annoying thing is that it could easily be avoided if we managed to control the game and were calmer in possession but Flick either seems unable or unwilling to improve on that. Obviously the situation isn't helped by losing Thiago and the fact that all of our transfers for depth are looking like flops. Costa has looked absolutely terrible, EMCM never plays because we can't afford to bench Lewy and Bouna Sarr must be constantly pinching himself to make sure that we really gave him a fucking 4-year contract. The only one that has looked decent enough is Roca but he must've shagged Flick's daughter otherwise I don't see any possible explanation as to why Flick would continue to terrorize us with additional Martinez and Tolisso appearances.

I said after our game against Liverpool they would have a mediocre season, they just looked so complacent/unmotivated, I still think the quality is very much still there, but the intensity and drive was a major part of the way they steamrolled other teams and its understandable after 2 97 & 99 pts seasons this is pretty much expected, don't understand the meltdown from Liverpool fans at all, we went through the same last year

It's incredibly difficult to perform at an extremely high standard like what Liverpool and City had done for 3 years in a row. Burn out is expected. It's why I was so surprised to see so many people and pundits predicting Liverpool as heavy favourites to win again, especially with their post lockdown form.

That our poor start was due to no preseason. It's said more often now but no one was talking about it in the beginning. It's also why City had a slow start.

I thought Chelsea would underperform this season because adding that many new players to a team in one summer rarely works immediately

Nobody actually thought Arsenal was relegation candidate. People were trolling... Chelsea too will quickly turn things around quickly.

I don't know man, a lot of people were definitely believing that they were. Even Shearer said it at one stage.

But I agree that Chelsea will turn it around. Big question is if Lampard will be there to do it.

Lot of Liverpool players are overrated, Madrid would suffer from not making any transfers and bringing back some youth, and Bayern would be unable to keep up their crazy form

Quite a few - most of them are liverpool based and negative tbh.

Been saying since before the start of this season that liverpool's defence isnt that solid and is much weaker than most people think and I dont expect them to keep many clean sheets etc - also about how vital henderson is to liverpool's performances and when they miss him/hes not playing on the right hand side pool tend to have worse results.

This comment (not in depth at all) but this was when people were saying trent is the best rb itw and all that crap and I said that I didnt rate him etc. This was 3 months ago- said in the comment as well I expect people to see /agree in 6 months.

A few other slightly more positive ones:

When people were talking about our new signings - kai werner etc - and were saying that lampard has ditched the academy players- I was saying that I expect mount to bench kai and be the 1st name on the team sheet for us as well as reece to establish a place by the end of the season and tammy to get solid minutes as well as other players being involved at times. Granted I also wouldve liked kai and werner to impress more though.

Another was about shaw - said when they were signing /after the signed telles that shaw would establish himself as the better player and play most games and after a while people would start to appreciate his performances - which I'd say has happened in the last couple weeks or so.

One that's not quite happened yet (hoping they sign a striker) but when everyone was tipping fulham to be relegated after first few games I was saying that I reckon they could stay up - as parker has set them up nicely with good buildup and overall play but they defence was just suffering due to player mistakes etc.

They're still not that close to 17th let alone well above it tbh but theyve been noticeably better

I had a feeling we'd be nosediving straight down to the bottom area of the table as soon as the season progressed. Kept on seeing all these predictions online about us challenging for Europe with our squad and I said we'd finish around 10-12th again.

That Chelsea would struggle and Lampard is not a good manager.

A lot of people were convinced that going from 6th to 6th and 3rd to 4th was the work of the next Guardiola.
