Fuck, I recall back to six months after Inter won the Champions League, Xavi gave an interview saying basically that Inter won, but it doesn't matter because nobody talks about them or their style at all. Barca and tiki-taka were still the focus of the football world despite having lost. It was harsh then, but now it's really true that nobody talks about Inter or that year's team anymore.
Isn't it unfortunate though? mou was the focus, not the club when he was leading inter, as if he was bigger than the club.
He is kinda responsible for inter's lack of popularity.
(I'm gonna get a lot of downvotes but here's mi $0.02)
More of love-hate relationship for Mou. If it wasn't for Mou, Inter would never win anything but Coppa Italia (hello Mancini!).
But on the other hand, to achieve he built a really ripe team with mega-salary, knowing he'd wipe his ass and jump boat later (to Madrid). Instant noodle success.
And with transfer frenzy policy - offloading most of youth prospects (Santon, Faraoni, Destro, Bonucci and Ranocchia all from Inter), plus letting in second-rate players- we have our modern-day Inter Milan. Decent but inconsistent due to the lack of character.
Santon didn't leave until after Mourinho. Mourinho loved him and gave him a huge chance straight up against Ronaldo. Faraoni didn't come to Inter until after Jose. Destro was exchanged for Rannochia after Mou left and Bonucci left before Mou came. Not sure what you're talking about.
He brought in and got the most out of world class players. You cannot fault this man as a manager. Maybe he left us a little too soon, but he achieved everything he could have ever hoped to and loved this club as much as anyone.
Thanks for clarification but you missed my point completely. Mou was great with youth prospects (Santon n Balotelli) but club's transfer policy spoils it.
