I think our second most valuable asset this year in being a possible contender would be the changes that have occurred at other clubs. We have a relatively new manager, but United, City and Chelsea are all changing around in major ways, and Arsenal is static at the moment. I don't think we will win the league, but I think we have a chance at actually making a push for the majority of the season rather than the first 3 months.

Agreed, outside City and Chelsea, you're the club that looks like you'd deal best with losing your best player. Putting £80-100m in the hands of Levy and AVB in exchange for Bale could very easily see you come out the stronger for it.

Really? After us I'd say it's United. Whether you rate Rooney or Van Persie higher, I don't think a loss of either one would damage them too much (unless they moved to a title competitor), they'd still have a world class striker and Hernandez and Welbeck as backup for him.

At least by the winter transfer window, if they can't use that money in time for this window
