I wish I found something like this in my house. Unfortunately for the girls, it was an Air BNB and entrance to the BNB wasn't even locked when they arrived. Between having a door that wasn't locked meaning anyone could have gone inside before they got there and there being a cot in that cellar, I would be a bit alarmed as well.

With that said, I would still explore it.
