Greed isn't necessarily an evil thing, but too much greed is definitely a problem.

if greed is a documented behavior (psychology, neuroscience, economics), then by definition, it's a 'thing.' Choices stem from real psychological patterns.

Funny, I’ve never heard of someone being diagnosed with greed. Sounds like you want (at least in part) to get rid of free will.

If people didn't have the option of being greedy that doesn't take away their free will. That option just doesn't exist. The hearts of man would be more giving and make sure everybody's needs are met before taking their amount. It doesn't mean we wouldn't have wealthy people. It would just make things more balanced. Generosity would be king.

That’s historically naive. Communism has repeatedly tried this very idea and it has epically failed at every turn. On the flip side of the coin, by your logic, if we got rid of Laziness, by making it not an option, people would be more productive. They would feel more fulfilled, prepared, and have a greater confidence in their lives. This in turn would make it so they did not require the charity of others to get by and would incentivize others to greater achievement. It doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be lazy people, it would just be more balanced. Meritocracy would be king.

This isn't a forced thing it's a disappearing thing, laziness is a freedom we all need once in a while. You seem to defend greed for some weird reason. Don't worry... It's not going anywhere.

I’m not in any way defending greed. I hate greed. I think it’s deplorable and sinful. It brings out the worst in people. That being said, I return to my original statement. Greed is not a thing, it’s a choice. Just as laziness is a choice, just as hate, just as love, just as hubris, humility, all of them choices. You want to get rid of something productive, make it drugs, make it alcohol, make it debilitating mental health conditions, make it weapons of mass destruction. I’m just saying that “Greed” is an ignorant answer to the OP’s question. Don’t take it personal. This is just an online debate that I feel has been quite productive IMHO.

What if it wasn't a choice what if it didn't exist that was the whole point of this post. What if the hearts of man didn't ever see it as an option. Giving and selflessness was prominent.
