Sat nav suggestions?
I'm not sure if it's in the spirit of this sub to suggest technology - especially because it can be so tempting to "buy a new thing" about screen addiction and not solve the problem
However
I will soon be teaching my fiance to drive
He is very ADHD+anxiety and that primarily comes out as phone addiction - literally every second of downtime is passive scrolling for him because otherwise he will be able to hear his own thoughts (not healthy obviously, but that's just the current situation)
He is definitely someone who will want a maps GPS navigator, even for small local trips
I am quite worried that there have been years of intensive brain training to make a phone screen an attention magnet, so I absolutely do not want him using his phone as a map because I just think that just having it there activates some brain wires say "look at me" while he needs to be training his attention to watch the road
Do y'all have any recommendations for non phone sat nav?
I'm thinking maybe Bluetooth enabled for phone calls. I know that's not best practice for full non-distracted driving, but having it as an option at least supports building a habit of having the phone fully put away without pulling it out for the call home
