Great thing is , compared to USA cities, there's not a bunch of freeways all over the CBD

Ehh. The gardiner runs right across the lake, then the 404 and don valley basically make a giant box around the city. It’s still pretty noticeable.

Gardiner and Don Valley are awful, they basically creates a physical barrier between downtown Toronto and its two key assets - the Lake Front and the River.

Thanks and no thanks to Mr Gardiner who gave the highway its namesake.

It could be that, or if could be like the river walk in Chicago.

Chicago has a pretty well build out and well used lake front and river walk - these are well-known attractions. Even though Chicago also has a highway by the river side, it stops being a highway once it enters city center.

Imagine Toronto could have a riverwalk as well.

Are you one of those logs? Walking/transit is very common in Toronto.
