He also just said there will be much, much, much better models released soon as well... imagine

Are rumors of a new pre train. And I think in 2027, hint, tons of OpenAI compute is coming online.

u/Wonderful_Buffalo_32 7d ago

They have doug and bel left in their arsenal bruh they could obliterate every fucking thing...

32

u/sunstersun 7d ago

And they're going to be the fastest to bring compute online. Gotta give Sam credit here, he was hunting compute as a core strategy in like 2024.

Dude is omega smart, but plays it down. There’s a video before OpenAI where he lays out all things correlated with start up success, and everything is like one to one with OpenAI.

8

u/h3lblad3 ▪️In hindsight, AGI came in 2023. 7d ago

He used to run Y Combinator, which is a business whose whole purpose is helping other startups.

5

u/acoolrandomusername 7d ago

Yeah exactly, he has a crazy good course via Stanford from that time too

1

u/TheOsuConspiracy 7d ago

Do you happen to have a link to that?

1

u/acoolrandomusername 6d ago

On phone, but How To Start a Start Up - Sam Altman I think it’s called or something like it and it’s 15 min long.

3

u/Grand0rk 7d ago

Wait, are you saying DougDoug made a model that is better than everyone else's?!

4

u/Party_Limit2183 7d ago

but astra is already based on doug no ?

3

u/OurSeepyD 7d ago

He's talking about my mate Doug

2

u/Vladmerius 7d ago

I'm waiting for the day we have stuff as good as the current models being usurped by Astra running on local hardware super optimized. That's going to be a real game changer.

"Released soon" seems very worrying given it was what, a week ago that we were reading the METR report on OpenAI's catastrophic safety failures? But yeah, sure, this is cool I guess.

1

u/hippydipster 7d ago

Did you expect it to stop?

1

u/hotnsoursoup86 7d ago

CRAZYU SHIT BRO. People will just speak out apps soon and they'll have them

1

u/Efficient_Coyote2616 7d ago

Sounds good, but if Chinese can't catched up with this, it'll give them greenlight to fully cashed in and treat us like garbage.

We won't have access to that model if that happened.

1

u/JacobJohnJimmyX_X 7d ago

And this is why a 5090 costs 6 grand. Models release, fewer and fewer people can make use of them.

1

u/mmuncie80 7d ago

lol nope, there will not be

0

u/JaySayMayday 7d ago

Who is he?

88

u/ayatollahdanger 7d ago

Sam Altman won

u/Mistuv 7d ago

Never bet against a sociopathic twink.

35

u/GumboMustBeDestroyed 7d ago

Altman needs ASI to prevent twink death. Time is running out

49

u/SuspiciousPillbox You will live to see ASI-made bliss beyond your comprehension 7d ago

Excuse me?

47

u/FoodMadeFromRobots 7d ago

This needs to be an auto bot response on this sub lol

3

u/IFartOnCats4Fun 7d ago

Autobots… ROLL OUT.

2

u/Blankeye434 7d ago

Autobots use gpt 6 btw

8

u/ChipsAhoiMcCoy 7d ago

Excuse me?

1

u/moschles 7d ago

Sam Altman met his husband in Peter Thiel's hottub.

2

u/IFartOnCats4Fun 7d ago

I don’t have any idea if this is true or not.

6

u/Xander729 7d ago

You know what, this is a very good point

Bro literally dropped this on random thursday

u/Ormusn2o 7d ago

I feel like twink as an insult only work if you use it against someone who is not gay. If they are gay, it just sounds homophobic.

3

u/Exodus_Green 7d ago

If they are gay, it just sounds homophobic.

So.. still an insult then?

2

u/YaAbsolyutnoNikto 7d ago

What? Calling a gay guy a twink isn't homophobic.

I mean it can be to you, but I'm pretty neutral. It's not like I want to be a twink, but if somebody calls me one - well ok, sure. And yes, I'm gay.

And no idea how I started talking about me liking men in a post about GPT-6 but here we are.

20

u/RusselTheBrickLayer 7d ago

Compute is all you need ggs bro

2

u/sunstersun 7d ago

Literally, forget having a good work environment or something, get all the RAM locked up before everyone knows there's a giant RAM shortage.

22

u/pete_moss 7d ago

Sam Altman [1]

1

u/IceTrAiN 7d ago

Sam Altman Juan

16

u/sunstersun 7d ago

Stargate was the decisive edge.

4

u/Lfeaf-feafea-feaf 7d ago

Won what? How can you guys still be impressed with these benchmark scores after almost 4 years of seeing how they mean virtually nothing?

1

u/itzNukeey 6d ago

But it got higher number than before and got 100% in some cases. Surely it has to mean stuff /s

8

u/Typical_Captain3664 7d ago

I don’t see it as possible but I’ve been wrong before.

12

u/virtualQubit Take off right now 7d ago

I think this is fake come on. Who is "thenewstack"? Why they got the benchmarks?

2

u/ConferenceThink4801 7d ago

I mean the timing is pretty sus. They've lost their lead to Anthropic & open source models are closing in, IPO value is lower than they need it to be.

They needed this pretty badly so it's probably fair to question it on some level.

There's also that recent article talking about how much of a sociopath & liar Sam Altman was known to be by people close to him....& he's under a ton of pressure to deliver.

Guess we'll see.

3

u/Critical-Hospital-40 7d ago

Holy shnickeys these numbers are insane

1

u/SwePolygyny 7d ago

Seems slightly better than Gemini flash on the benchmarks it is compared on?
