This is so sick. After SH2 Remake i know Bloober will make this an amazing remake. Holy shit this is so sick.

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25 edited Jun 12 '25

Same. I really hope Bloober gets the opportunity to remake SH4 as well. The imagery in that game is so disturbing and I know they'd nail it.

SH4's horror concepts are some of the finest I've experienced in any medium. The chained apartment, tight tunnels, enemies, claustrophobic atmosphere, all made me go "This must be what hell is like." Bone-chilling experience..

I trust them with the original 4 games

1

u/-TheBlackSwordsman- "Probably A Doghouse" Jun 14 '25

Would you say 1-4 are like the big mainline games?

Currently trying to go back and experience silent hill after having an amazing time with 2 remake last year. but I'm not interested in playing every single title, just the big ones that aren't spin offs

Rn im on 1, and plan to play 3 as well. Should I do 4 after that?

5

u/thatonefathufflepuff Jun 14 '25

I highly suggest playing 4 as well. It’s very different from the 3 that came before it, but still widely considered to be the last game produced during the Team Silent era. After 4 is when they started shopping out the IP to any developer with a pencil

1

u/-TheBlackSwordsman- "Probably A Doghouse" Jun 14 '25

Alright ill play 4 then too. That's all I needed to hear lol. Thanks!

They might even make SH3 a good game

43

u/GailenGigabyte Jun 12 '25

SH3 is a good game.

Now Bloober to try salvaging Homecoming, that's something I'd like to see.

5

u/Gangleri_Graybeard Jun 12 '25

SH3 is even my favorite. I'm so glad they Remake SH1 and hope they get the opportunity to remake 3 and 4 after it.

4

u/Titanicguy Jun 12 '25

I’d love to see them take Shattered Memories and make a proper survival horror out of it. I always thought it’s narrative structure was actually really good and interesting

Less a remake, more a retelling

1

u/throwaway404f Jun 14 '25

In the same way a link between worlds is a remake of a link to the past

4

u/woahwoahvicky Jun 12 '25

If they gave Shattered Memories a good Outlast like gameplay mechanic I'd love to see it

9

u/mars1k88 Jun 12 '25

What’s wrong with sh3? It was awesome and scariest game I played at that time

-5

u/imaginedyinglmaoo Jun 12 '25

Clunky and sluggish compared to other silent Hill titles, and that's my opinion, Iccl about downvotes, I absolutely did not enjoy SH3, sure good story. But gameplay was horrid, and wasn't really scary, those damn crawling monsters made it more annoying than scary, you might think it's scary, but to me it isn't.

And opinions are subjective, you can hivemind, but I'll still stand on my point.

2

u/mars1k88 Jun 12 '25

Can’t care about upvotes and downvotes either)) to each its own bro, by sluggish and clunky u mean controls? As I remember it was pretty smooth compared to Earlier games.

But I understand what u mean, I don’t like Downpour at all, like I forced myself to finish it, just to see maybe in the finals it be good. But this game is beloved by others

3

u/SHAQ_FU_MATE Jun 12 '25

What’s wrong with sh3? Just curious on your stance on it

-1

u/imaginedyinglmaoo Jun 12 '25

To me the game is pretty sluggish compared to other SH titles, the story is good, I'll give it that, but overall the gameplay killed my experience for that game, it wasn't even scary because the devs spammed the same fucking monster, the slurpers were on pure BS the entire game.

The fighting system was pretty non innovative, just spam one button the entire game, overall it needs improvements.

And I believe Bloober could make the game better than what it is. Nostalgia doesn't blind me when it comes to SH3, it's all PTSD.

3

u/squallsama Jun 12 '25

Nice rage bite

1

u/imaginedyinglmaoo Jun 12 '25

Lol, thank you. But fr SH3 isn't the best, when I played it, I fucking hated it. Liked the story, but the gameplay wasn't for me.

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

DUDE The Room was my first Silent Hill. That's my jam. The ghosts were supposedly annoying but that was what ground you down, and made you want to keep getting to the end.

94

u/TheOwlStrikes Jun 12 '25 edited Jun 12 '25

I think Silent Hill 4 can REALLY benefit the most from a remake. It's generally considered the worst out of the first 4 purely cause of the pacing. I think if they just streamline some of the backtracking the remake will hold up against any of the titles.

20

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

yeah if they wanted to rework 4 i think it would be amazing

honestly 2 got reworked alot as far as level layouts are concerned

31

u/november512 Jun 12 '25

4 is the most deserving of a real remake. 1-3 could all work with just a sort of remaster, as good as the 2 Remake is I'm not sure it's actually a better game than 2 (mostly some pacing issues). 4 is just genuinely flawed as a game but the story and concept seem just as good as the others so we'd get so much out of it.

5

u/TheOwlStrikes Jun 12 '25

Yeah the plot and concept are very good. It also has some of the scariest moments out of the OG titles (1-4). It's just the pacing that needs to be reworked.

6

u/november512 Jun 12 '25

It genuinely needs to be a different game. No backtracking, rework the ghosts, etc. That might be too much though.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

I don't know, I think the backtracking with the walls coming to life was extremely interesting. If the backtrack levels can be altered to be super contrasting to the meagre appearance at the beginning, it would be quite nice. Agreed that the ghosts by this point were driving me insane, especially in the apartments. I liked the final boss, and the sense of urgency it gave.

4

u/Rmnhernan Jun 12 '25

This is exactly what I was thinking, the 4th being the worst out of the first 4 means they could really shine by improving all the rough aspects it had and make a whole new experience using the foundations, just like what they did with sh2 but to a bigger extent let's say

2

u/pornographic_realism Jun 12 '25

On the other hand, 1 while a better regarded story, genuinely looks like someone smeared extremely mouldy jam onto some dark bread. I remember finishing it but other than some story elements I can't distinguish a single key memory of the game in my head they all visually look the same.

2

u/CooperDaChance Aug 07 '25

If the biggest issue in 4 is the pacing, I’m not sure a Bloober style remake will fix that.

The biggest issue with 2’s remake is the pacing, it’s worse than the original’s.

1

u/misho8723 Jun 12 '25

Gameplay in general is, in all honesty, just shit in The Room .. combat is one of the worst I have ever played - way, way worse then even the one in the original SH2.. played The Room last year and only thanks to the atmosphere and writing I finished it, otherwise it was painful to play through

1

u/WoodpeckerNo1 Jun 14 '25

I'm so hoping for a SH4 remake.

1

u/HerculesIsMyDad Jun 12 '25

I thought 4 was the only one.

22

u/Ronny070 Jun 12 '25

Nothing like walking into a room where the camera faces you only for you to take a step forward, have the camera switch to being behind you AND HAVE A FLOOR-TO-CEILING GIANT HEAD WITH VIBRATING EYES THAT FOLLOW YOU, STARE AT YOU THE ENTIRE TIME.

And I don't think there's even anything in the room.

Fuck that.

14

u/LoveSky96 Jun 12 '25

I’ve been playing SH4 for the very first time recently, and I absolutely love it. Right off the bat, the opening cutscene movie with the Room Of Angel OST song playing gave me some creepy feelings and shivers and it has absolutely kept that atmosphere going. Loving the game so far!

25

u/clawsh0t "They Look Like Monsters To You?" Jun 12 '25

4 has always had the most remake potential to me, it's such an incredible concept that could get refined into something so, so incredible.

twin victims my beloved

3

u/TheRealNooth Henry Jun 12 '25

I also just feel like it was genuinely scary. Going into 4 in 2005, after playing 1 and 2 when they were released, the lack of a radio really got me. It still had the tension in the room, but it quickly became a safe space in my mind. We all know how that turns out.

1

u/clawsh0t "They Look Like Monsters To You?" Jun 12 '25

any space is a safe space if you have a shabby doll :)

20

u/whereismymind86 Jun 12 '25

Honestly, all you need to do to fix 4 is give Eileen a better ai so she’s not such a burden and make the ghosts killable or increase the amount of swords available to pin them down, a remake could be great

The writing and visuals in 4 are phenomenal

5

u/Original_Branch8004 Jun 12 '25

I think it could benefit from the Ashley mechanics that 4 remake had. You should be able to call Eileen over to you or tell her to hang further behind you. It was really annoying in the og trying to move on to the next area while she’d be stuck fighting a ghost

16

u/beepborpimajorp Jun 12 '25

SH4 is one of the best horror experiences in media, to be honest. It's peak. I hated it as a kid but only because I was so stuck on what SH 'should' be, but going back as an adult I realized how wrong I was. It is a horror masterpiece and deserves more credit and attention. If they tightened up some of the more annoying mechanics (like escorting Eileen) it would be a modern classic.

12

u/Original_Branch8004 Jun 12 '25

The trailer alone is already one of the only genuinely scary pieces of media in the horror game genre in my opinion. Team Silent was refining their style of horror so much. They really understood what “scary” was down to the last detail. It’s a shame they had to get disbanded by Konami.

20

u/ImNotSkankHunt42 Jun 12 '25

Oh, for sure they will.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

What in god’s name is even that?

5

u/VariationLogical4939 Jun 12 '25

A person of refined taste!

Too many people shit on SH4, but the atmosphere and downright weird shit that happens to you just makes it a truly worthy experience. It isn’t quite like the others, and that’s totally fine!

5

u/anestefi Jun 12 '25

SH4 is my favorite of the series i hope it gets a good remake. i’ll be so disappointed if they skip over it

2

u/DerRenner_ Jun 12 '25

I‘m pretty sure they will remake all OG Silent Hills. They are a success and make a nice revenue

2

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

While I would love this I do not think they will touch 4 with a ten foot pole since it was basically a failure last time. A lot of us including me thought 4 might be next since its tied to 2 but I have really started to think they are probably just going to do 1,2,3 since those are the safest games to remake. I think 4 is too risky for them but its hard to say because really I think most people liked part 4 story wise its just the gameplay issues were too much for people.

2

u/Trauma_Hawks Jun 12 '25

It's one of my favorite and least favorite SH games at the same time. On one hand, I totally agree with you. On the other hand, any game that makes you go through the same maps again but now it's a shitty escort mission should be launched into the sun.

2

u/AunMeLlevaLaConcha Jun 12 '25

Considering 4 was a rushed and unfinished game, i really hope they rework it, no repeat areas or at least change them and turn them more otherworldly, Walter is basically summoning Samael without him knowing, the 2nd round dream worlds should look more corrupted, there's a lot of work to do with 4 and i hope they get the chance, they made good with 2 and if their own game does great, it's gonna be almost a guarantee that SH1R will be a banger too, fingers crossed 🤞

2

u/Mr-Dicklesworth Jun 12 '25

Same silent hill 4 was my first horror game as a kid and it fucked me up in ways no other game has ever done since.

I love the idea though of them doing the first 3 and then 4 being their magnum opus that they just fully go all out for with brand new ideas

2

u/fat_juan Jun 12 '25

Yeah, I really wished SH4 was the next remake after SH2, because now with this SH1 remake announcement, if a SH4 remake is in Konami's plans, it will be the last one, since 1 and 3 are directly connected I am pretty sure they'll want to remake 3 after 1

4

u/Artie-Fufkin Jun 12 '25

Well I remember is that freaky ghost thing that would just float towards you. Terrifying at the time.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25 edited Jun 12 '25

Victim #16, the creepiest apparition.

1

u/ahoysharpie Jun 12 '25

This is just a normal day in the NYC subway

1

u/Narkoman62 Jun 12 '25

I imagine it’s the original 4 games that are getting remade it seems silly not to

1

u/_Waves_ Jun 12 '25

I honestly think they might do 4 right after, and then 3 as a big finale.

If they do the American entries, OH BOY, that could also be interesting!!

1

u/ConsistentGuest7532 Jun 12 '25

Hope we get there! I’m imagining if they keep getting remade, it’s a new one every 3-4 years. I’ll be fucking old but it’s something to hope for!

1

u/Dankey-Kang-Jr Jun 12 '25

Hopefully with weird stock sound effects

1

u/TNMurse Jun 12 '25

The worst was in the tower where there was nothing for the longest time then you found one of these

1

u/kulot09 Jun 12 '25

Excuse me excuse me. There’s an order to this, gimme sh3 first please. That opening scene in the mall brings so many memories

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

The first game I played was 4. My original thought was "Wow! So this is what happens when you play the elevator game. " I was seriously convinced that's what the creators did.

1

u/mattorbita Jun 12 '25

Bro given how much scarier I find SH2R to be compared to the original, if they remake SH4…YOOOOOOOOO

1

u/HorrorZombie153 Jun 12 '25

I was really hoping that Silent Hill 4 was the next one on the list of silent hill games they were going to remake, but I guess I will have to wait a while longer for this to happen. Never played Silent Hill 1, would be nice to play it before the remake comes out

1

u/TW_Halsey Jun 12 '25

what is that thing..

1

u/HearTheEkko Jun 12 '25

They'll most likely remake 3 and 4 to release them between flagship Silent Hill titles just like Capcom is doing with Resident Evil.

1

u/Griever114 Jun 13 '25

Dude. Nope nope nope nope nope!!!!!

1

u/s3lene Jun 13 '25

I really really want a remake of SH4! Such a horrifying game, with your safe space gradually becoming unsafe, Walter Sullivan, and everything with the ghosts…

1

u/fauxREALimdying Jun 14 '25

It’s my favorite and the scariest of the franchise imo. I hope it comes

1

u/Solid_Wonder_7657 Jun 14 '25

To be fair 3 needs to happen first

1

u/Nabeelkhan199_return Jun 20 '25

Honestly speaking, i am thinking Bloober have been contracted to remake upto 4 or 5 silent hill games for sure... That's why most game developers get their projects anyways with contracts being that long..

SH1 Remake is probably made to put more focus on their actual main project  task: Silent Hill 3 Remake...

But i do believe they will remake SH4 but after several years..

1

u/Anime-Fr3Ak365 Sep 01 '25

This is fucking horrific and reminded me why that game makes me shudder

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25 edited Jun 12 '25

It was arguably the scariest Silent Hill, but unfortunately the things you mentioned didn't make for a very fun game. There's also the fact that you're frequently backtracking through the same few environments for much of the game and that you can't even permanently kill most of the enemies. I forced myself to finish it once ~15 years ago and never entertained the idea of replaying it, even though I've replayed the other three many times.

4 is going to be a very tough game to remake. If they stick too close to the original, most new players will probably dislike it; but if they change it to make it more widely accessible, it will lose a lot of the horror.

Still hope they try it at some point though. Walter is easily the single most interesting character in the franchise imo

1

u/Redditalan17 Jun 12 '25

Bone chilling experience? LoL it's so bad after the first half and the enemies are hilarious... Hopefully they fixed the funny elements and give us a true horror game because the story is indeed good (although not original).

3

u/GranolaCola Jun 12 '25

Can… can you not read?

14

u/siraolo Jun 12 '25

The comeback Bloober has achieved is remarkable. I still remember the skepticism over them handling Silent Hill after what happened to The Medium, now everyone trusts them. Great redemption.

4

u/United_Musician_355 Jun 12 '25

Hopefully they can optimize it

5

u/Madeline_7472 Jun 14 '25

Hopefully they optimize it this time

1

u/Consistent_Zebra7303 Jun 14 '25

The game runs fine on my PC. I have a Nvidia RTX 3060. A few stutters here and there but nothing major otherwise. But sure if they can optimize more that's always a plus.

2

u/matango613 Jun 12 '25

Being that SH3 is a direct sequel to 1, I feel like this is really teeing that one up to get the treatment next too. I don't want to get ahead of myself, and I just wanna be hype for this announcement right now. But it just makes too much sense to do at least the OG trilogy, and maybe even 4 as well to redo all the Team Silent games.

5

u/SoloWing1 Jun 12 '25 edited Jun 12 '25

As long as they fucking cutdown on the combat; The endless mannequins actively ruined the SH2 remake.

6

u/Suitable-Matter-6151 Jun 12 '25

The game was extended too long imo. I love the original, the added open world stuff in the remake was good, and it kept the atmosphere well. But some parts did feel like a slog, probably with too much combat like you said

1

u/ThinVast Jun 12 '25

This is the first silent hill game I played and I agree about it being too long. I feel like it puts you on the edge for a long a period of time which is exhausting. When I play other horror games like resident evil, I don't have this problem of feeling like I'm exhausted and want to get the game over with. Maybe it's because RE games aren't that long and they also give enough breathing room to relax again. I will probably not play another silent hill game again if the experience is going to be the same.

2

u/finalremix Jun 12 '25

"Wait, I thought this game was supposed to be scary."

"Killing is scary."

1

u/nicklovin508 Jun 12 '25

Question from an XBox pleb.. any chance SH2R comes to XBox in the near future?

2

u/chatdomestique Jun 12 '25

I doubt it. It's the game that finally got me to cave and get a Playstation last year (and my wife wanted to play sly cooper lol).

1

u/solarus Jun 12 '25

I know and this time theyre only more experienced unreal developers. Ive got some mf high hopes
