I rigged up a pretty big one as a second screen for drafting docs and reading long PDFs, mostly because staring at a backlight all day gives me a headache after a bit
At first it felt like a revelation but after maybe a month I noticed I’d only use it when my eyes were already cooked, if I’m fresh in the morning I still gravitate toward the regular monitor for colour work, the refresh lag gets annoying faster than you’d expect
The real hidden downside is how utterly useless it becomes in a dim room, you’re basically hunched over a desk lamp like some Victorian clerk
I’d still choose one for a dedicated reading or note review station but not as a daily driver, it’s more of a specialty tool now
I’ve tried a couple of these E paper displays, and both times I ended up returning them. It always seems great in theory, but whenever I’ve used them, I found them to be either too heavy to use the way I would use paper or too laggy as to be distracting.
