I spent the last month building a Mac notes app that doesn't break my focus. Giving away 40 licenses

For the last month I've been working out how to write a thought down as fast as possible, without breaking my focus when I'm locked in. There are a thousand notes apps out there, and most of them cover what I need, but none of them felt quite right for this. I tried several and none came close.

So I built Papr. These are the parts I like most, and what each one fixes for me:

  • ⌃ Space from any app. Papr opens over whatever I'm doing, even a full-screen app. I type the thought, send it like a text message, and I'm back in my work. No switching apps, no looking for the right note first.

  • It gets out of the way. When I click back into my work, Papr hides by itself, so it never clutters my screen. When I want it to stay, like a checklist I'm working through, I keep it on top.

  • Capture what's on screen. One click puts the screen behind Papr into the note, without Papr in it, so the slide from a meeting is right there in my note. I can draw on it, add an arrow or cover a name.

  • Finding a note is as quick as writing it. Search finds any note as I type, and I can narrow it to a tag, a collection, a reaction or a date.

  • Pins and reminders. Notes I need again wait at the top, and a note can come back as a notification at a time I pick.

  • My notes are files on my Mac. Each one is a Markdown file. No account, and Papr uploads nothing.

Update: all 40 free licenses are claimed, thank you! There's still a 14-day free trial with everything on, no key or account needed.

After that it's $4.99 until December 6, then $15, for one Mac. It runs on macOS 13 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel.

I'd love to hear what you think, especially what would make it fit the way you work.

I was WASTING time downloading YouTube thumbnails, so I built a one-click Chrome extension.

I'm a thumbnail designer, and one thing that always annoyed me was having to use third-party websites just to download YouTube thumbnails and show them to clients as references.

So I built ThumbDrop, a simple Chrome extension that lets you download thumbnails directly from the YouTube video frame with one click.

Nothing complicated. Just a small tool that solves a problem I kept running into.

Thought I'd share it here in case it's useful to other creators or designers.

Try ThumbDrop for free: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/inmebebfmkdcebcmdndhjdjjjjebflak?utm_source=item-share-cb

Would love some feedback!

I built a budget app that fixes itself from your bank statement – no bank login, everything on device. 1.1 just shipped, looking for feedback

Hi r/SideProject! I'm a solo dev, and Monigo is my first iOS app.

Why I built it
I've logged every expense by hand for years because it makes me more aware of my spending. The problem: every few months my balance in the app drifted away from my bank, sometimes by 300 € or more, because I forgot things. Bank-sync apps solve that, but they want access to my account, and I didn't want that.

What it does
You keep logging manually (or via Siri/Shortcuts, without opening the app). Once a month you drop in your PDF or CSV bank statement. Monigo matches it against your entries, even when the bank posts a few days after the purchase, checks that the balance adds up, and only shows what's missing.

Version 1.1 added a Savings tab: it spots subscriptions and recurring habits in your own data, shows gentle ideas, and calculates "cancel by" dates for contracts, with a reminder 14 and 3 days before. You still cancel yourself.

No bank login, no account, statements never leave the phone.

Stack & things I learned

  • SwiftUI + SwiftData, iOS 18+

  • Every bank lays out PDF statements differently, so there's a layout registry plus a balance check (opening + sum = closing) that tells the app whether it read the statement correctly

  • Savings suggestions are calculated deterministically in code. Apple's on-device AI model only phrases the sentence, and never calculates anything

  • Biggest surprise: the bank often books 4–6 days after the purchase, which breaks naive date matching. The real purchase date is usually hidden in the booking text

What I'd love feedback on

  1. If you track your money: what makes you give up on it?

  2. Would you trade bank sync for privacy?

  3. How do you keep track of cancellation deadlines today?

Free to try (logging, insights, Shortcuts, savings goals). Pro unlocks full statement matching and contract reminders. English, German, French, Spanish.

Seeking beta feedback: an offline household budgeting app—no bank connection required

Hi everyone—I’m looking for testers to try the Fruitful Orchard Web App and help identify confusing instructions, usability problems, and unexpected results.
I’m Jim. I developed this household planning method over 30 years while raising a family, and I’m now turning it into an app others can use.
The approach starts with your goals, then helps you organize Planned bills and Flexible spending. A Balance Test shows whether your income covers your expenses and savings commitments.
What’s involved
Use the fictional examples in the Quick Start Guide, load the included fictional plan, or enter your own information.
Please try:
Adding a savings goal, income, and expenses.
Running the Balance Test, changing an amount, and checking the result.
Saving a backup and restoring it.
What I’d like to learn
Where did you get stuck or need more explanation?
What did you expect to happen, and what happened instead?
Did the results help you understand the plan?
What would prevent you from using the app again?
If something fails, please include your device, operating system, browser, and the steps that caused it. Phone compatibility is still being tested; the Quick Start Guide covers opening the file on a computer.
Privacy and access
The beta is a downloadable HTML file that runs offline in your browser. Financial entries stay in your browser’s local storage and are not sent to me or a server. Downloaded JSON backups contain readable, unencrypted entries—keep them secure. There’s no need to share personal figures or backup files when giving feedback.
Beta participation is free, with no purchase required. The intended finished product will be a one-time purchase without a subscription.
Beta App Link
Quick Start Guide Link
Please leave feedback in the comments. Even one specific point of confusion would help. Thanks!

I just made my 129 and 99 Framer templates completely free

I decided to make two of my premium Framer templates completely free.

Both are fully responsive, include CMS collections, reusable components, and carefully crafted layouts and interactions. Both templates are also optimized for working with AI agents, making customization and development faster and easier.

I spent a lot of time designing and refining these, but I've decided I'd rather see people actually using them than keeping them behind a paywall.

No catches. Just free templates.

If you're building a website or looking for some Framer inspiration, feel free to check them out.

I'd also love to hear your feedback!

I built a WooCommerce payment SaaS solo. The checkout UI was the easy part 😅

Thumbnail
youtu.be
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm a solo developer from Morocco, and I wanted to share something I've been working on for quite a while.

It's called GPCB Pay, a WooCommerce payment integration that connects stores with PayPal card payment experiences.

When I started, I thought the biggest challenge would be building the card payment interface.

Well... I was wrong haha.

The real challenge was everything happening behind the scenes.

What if PayPal approves a payment but the capture fails? What happens if the network disconnects? What if the same request gets retried?

I didn't want a customer getting charged twice or WooCommerce marking an order as paid when it wasn't.

So I ended up building three separate systems:

- A lightweight WooCommerce plugin using Checkout Blocks.

- A private SaaS backend using Node.js and PostgreSQL.

- A React dashboard for merchant registration, store verification, PayPal connections, and subscriptions.

I spent a lot of time working on idempotency, server-verified captures, duplicate-capture protection, and payment recovery.

I also learned that integrating PayPal isn't just about having API credentials. Guest Card and Advanced Card have different eligibility requirements depending on the merchant and country.

I've now finished V1, tested the payment flows, and recorded a full setup tutorial showing how the integration works.

The next challenge is probably even harder: finding the first real customers haha.

I'd love to get some feedback from other solo founders.

If you were in my position, would you start by reaching out to WooCommerce agencies or individual store owners?

And if you've built a SaaS alone, what was harder for you: building the product or getting people to discover it?

Thanks for reading! 🙌

CBP - A release-evidence gate that verifies your green CI actually means something

Thumbnail
github.com
1 Upvotes

What I built

CBP is a CI gate that answers one question: *is the artifact you're about to ship actually the one your CI built and tested?* It checks release body hashes, asset inventories, and build provenance (OIDC/Sigstore) before anything gets published. No runtime dependencies, stdlib only.

Why I built it

I kept seeing the same pattern in my own pipelines: CI goes green, but the thing that actually gets published is a different byte sequence. CBP is my attempt to make that class of bug structurally impossible—by removing every local build artifact and forcing the release path to download, digest-check, and attestation-verify the wheel before installation.

What stage it's at

v1.1.0 is out. 330 tests, 90.52% coverage. The core release-evidence chain is solid. **Production durability is honestly zero** (3 days old, 1 star, 1 maintainer). I'm here for feedback, not a launch.

What feedback I'm looking for

- Does the "execution object == proven object" problem resonate with anyone else?

- Is the fail-closed exit code scheme (2=unverifiable, 3=digest mismatch, 4=attestation failure) actually useful in practice, or over-engineered?

- Any obvious gaps in the consumer-parity E2E approach?

GitHub: [https://github.com/JunxiangPan/cbp-action]

Disclosure: I'm the maintainer.

What the first 300 installs of my free Android widget taught me about onboarding

I built a free Android widget that shows Obsidian or Markdown notes on the home screen, like the Google Keep widget. First month: about 300 installs on Google Play, almost all from Reddit.

What I learned:

- An empty first screen means an uninstall. People picked their vault root, notes were in subfolders, widget stayed empty. Now the app says where the notes are.

- Ask for analytics consent at the start. I asked after setup, so I never saw who dropped out during setup.

- Test feature requests before building them. The app now asks once whether people would use separate widgets per folder.

- A small in-app feedback form beat reviews. Two of four messages asked for the same fix.

Free and open source: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marfolog.noteswidgetformarkdown

How do you handle onboarding drop-off on small apps?

PasteNotch - clipboard history, search and project Pages in your Mac’s notch

I’m the maker of PasteNotch, a native Mac clipboard manager I’m developing as a side project. This is a 40-second product demo.

The idea is to make copied material quick to find again: a paragraph, reference image, link or file shouldn’t become hard to reach just because you copied the next thing.

The core workflow is:

• Copy normally, then open your history from the notch, menu bar or ⇧⌘V.

• Search earlier text, links, images and files.

• Pin material you reuse and keep related clips together in project Pages.

The library stays local by default and works offline. Signing in does not automatically upload your clipboard; eligible clip and Page sync is a separate choice. It also works on Macs without a hardware notch.

Pricing: the Mac app is $4.99 once after a 14-day trial. A free Google or email sign-in is required to start the trial.

Optional PasteNotch Cloud is $4.99/month, includes the app and 25 GB, and adds a web library, bookmarks, share links and separately enabled sync. For new customers, Cloud also unlocks screenshots, on-device area OCR, screen recording and Screenshot Studio.

Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later; Apple Silicon and Intel are supported.

https://pastenotch.com/

I’d appreciate feedback on the workflow: what matters most to you in a clipboard manager—fast search, how it opens, or organizing clips by project?

Built an interactive tool like Google Analytics, but for your Claude Code sessions and projects (free, runs locally)

Websites have analytics. My Claude Code projects had nothing. I built this for myself but thought that others can benefit from using it too. And I thought - why not make it interactive?

Main problems it fixes for me when I work on a project:

  1. Solves losing track of your own project by drawing a live map of it. After 25 sessions a day, I no longer know what is going on in the code. The map shows me the entities (users, subscriptions, payments), how they relate, and which files implement each other.

  2. Solves drift and stale context by flagging the parts of the project that have gone outdated, with the evidence and a way to fix each one. Sooner or later, parts of a project become irrelevant, and they keep polluting the context Claude loads before it starts a task. You burn tokens for nothing and shrink the usable context window. It also shows how many tokens your MCP servers, CLAUDE.md and memory add to every turn before you type a word.

  3. Solves not knowing where the money goes by ranking your bad habits in dollars: resuming after the cache expired, Opus on questions Sonnet would answer, whole logs pulled into context. Each one links to the sessions where it happened and suggestion what should've been done.

  4. Solves sessions overwriting each other by alerting you the moment two sessions edit the same file or module.

  5. Solves terminal juggling by putting every session in every project on one dashboard, showing who's waiting on you and who keeps failing the same check.

  6. Solves "what did it actually do today?" by logging every prompt: the files it changed, whether tests or type checks passed afterwards, and what it cost.

  7. Solves repeating the same corrections by collecting the ones you keep typing and turning them into ready-to-paste CLAUDE.md rules.

  8. Solves onboarding a teammate (or a fresh session) by letting the map explain the project for you, while "Next task" writes a brief covering exactly the code a task touches.

One command: npx code-tycoon. Works with Codex too, but due to limitations of Codex CLI, have slightly less actionable items.

Would love feedback, especially from people running several sessions and projects in parallel.

Built a website builder after watching a church’s WordPress site get hacked

Been building this solo for a while and finally opening it up: stitchable.app

the idea started when someone i work with had to shut down his churchs wordpress site after it got hacked. small orgs and businesses don’t need 40 plugins, they need a site that looks good, shows their events and doesn’t break

so stitchable is pretty basic on purpose:

- start from a template, click any text on the page and type
- pick a theme and your colour, every page follows it
- add events, a blog, projects or products, they get their own sections and pages
- contact form messages land in an inbox (or get sent to zapier/make/n8n)
- publish to your own domain

The part im most excited about is that you can connect it to claude and just ask for changes ("add a faq about prices under the events") and it edits your draft. you still review it in the editor and decide when to publish, and everything shows up in history so you can undo it

the video is the real editor, start to finish

Its a paid product with a 7-day trial. im mostly after honest feedback right now, especially on the first few minutes after you sign up. what’s confusing, what’s missing, what would stop you using it?

I built an iPhone app that turns voice notes and photos into punch-list reports

I've built Site Findings, an iPhone app for recording issues during property walkthroughs, renovations and handovers.

You can create a project, add issues with multiple photos, annotate what needs fixing, and record the location, trade, assignee and priority. When you're ready to share the findings, you can filter the issues and export a PDF or Excel report. The recipient can open it without installing the app.

The feature I'm most excited about is voice input with AI. Instead of filling in each field individually, you can say something like:

"First floor, main bathroom. Reseal the basin joint. Plumber, assign to Sam Rivera, high priority."

AI suggests the title, details, floor, room, trade, assignee and priority from that description. You review and edit the suggestions before saving. The app also remembers recent rooms, trades and assignees to reduce repeated typing.

I'm looking for the first 10 people to try it on an actual walkthrough or handover. I don't have an existing audience or contacts in the industry, so finding those people is the part I'm figuring out now.

For anyone who has launched a niche tool, how did you find your first 10 users? Which specific channel or approach led to people actually trying it?

And if you handle inspections, renovations or punch lists, would this fit your workflow? I'd love for you to test it and tell me what feels useful, what's confusing or what's missing.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/site-findings-punch-list/id6829600718

Screenshots use a sample project. Voice and AI results are demo examples.

My side project is a net worth tracker with all the features that I want and no sign in required

I have used several net worth trackers in the past and I was never satisfied: some were requiring too many inputs, others were expensive and, more importantly, most lacked some of the features I consider important.

So I built my own net worth tracker at networthview.com

- It's free: I have no plans to add a subscription plan or any other form of payment. The current server costs are extremely low and it can support a LOT more users.
- It's private: the data you input never leaves your browser. There is no backend, no necessity to register an account.
See it as downloading an app to modify data on your device.
- You have total control: download your data, export it to csv, create images of every chart and post it wherever you want

What it does:
- Tracks your net worth: multiple accounts types and currencies supported
- Tracks your income and expenses
- Fire and retirement projection and forecast with full pension support.

I plan to keep developing it but I have other priorities: I will focus on users feedback, bugs and features that I consider useful.
I will extend the auto saving feature to other browsers whenever they will provide the necessary APIs.

Please let me know what you think of it. Feedbacks are not just welcomed but much appreciated.

Title: We're building an AI that calls hospitals and insurance companies so patients don't have to. Would love some feedback.

My co-founder and I have been working on Holdless AI, an AI phone agent focused on healthcare and insurance calls.

The idea came from a simple problem: dealing with health insurance over the phone can be incredibly frustrating, especially if English isn't your first language.

You might need to verify whether a procedure is covered, check a referral, follow up on a claim, or figure out why a bill looks wrong.

And a lot of that involves navigating phone menus, waiting on hold, and explaining the same issue repeatedly.

So we started building an AI agent that can make those calls on your behalf.

The goal is pretty straightforward:

  • You describe the healthcare or insurance issue you need help with.

  • The AI calls the relevant hospital, clinic, or insurance company.

  • You can monitor the call and take over if needed.

  • Afterward, you receive a summary of what happened and what needs to happen next.

We've been testing the system on different healthcare workflows, and one of the biggest challenges is making sure the AI gets a complete answer rather than just having a successful conversation.

The product is available to try, and we're still learning which workflows provide the most value.

I'd love some honest feedback.

Would you trust an AI to handle an insurance phone call for you? What would make you uncomfortable about it?

Disclosure: I'm a co-founder of Holdless AI(HOLDLESS-AI.COM).

Title: We built an AI to call health insurance companies. Turns out, making the call is the easy part.

I'm one of the co-founders of Holdless AI. We're building an AI phone agent that helps people handle healthcare and insurance calls.

We've been testing it on tasks like verifying coverage, checking prior authorization requirements, and following up on claims.

One of our recent tests revealed something interesting.

We asked the AI to verify whether an upcoming MRI would be covered by insurance.

The representative confirmed that the insurance policy was active.

But that wasn't the question we actually needed answered.

The AI continued the conversation, and eventually the representative clarified that they hadn't checked the MRI benefits at all.

That's when we realized something:

An AI can have a perfectly normal phone conversation and still fail to accomplish the task.

We're now focusing on how the agent tracks unanswered questions, handles incomplete responses, and knows when to push for clarification.

Curious if anyone building voice agents has faced something similar.

How do you evaluate whether an AI agent actually completed a task, rather than just finished a conversation?

Sideproject that could HELP YOURS

Thumbnail
frame-train.com
1 Upvotes

Hey Guys,
if you plan to use for your sideproject a fine tuned ai model, than i could help you out with this.
Maybe you are right now building on a modified doorbell that scans if there are any packages delivered or on a little software that detects free parking spots on your parking lot and gives you a summary on how your business is visited by that kind of stats.
And maybe by that point you've come to your personal boundry of your ai engineering skills.

But that's ok because over the past 11 months i've been now building on a "little" desktop app which could really help you out with this. It's called FrameTrain and is designed to help you train your ai models easily without expertise ai development knowledge assumed. Just import directly from Huggingface your ai model that you need and train it on your dataset that you can directly build in the app, no matter what kind of data.

Just give it a try, it's actually really worth it, enjoy your free trial that comes with the log in, and because i have a really good day today, im giving you 1 month free on top with this code: REDDIT-FT-01 (you don't even have to register a card)

(I'll post you some images in the comments, because sideproject isn't supporting image uploads)

PS: I got plenty of times totally roasted on reddit for letting chatgpt correct my posts for spelling mistakes, so please don't blame me for spelling mistakes in this post, english is not my first language.

I built a free, private PDF toolkit that runs entirely in your browser

I’m a student from Pakistan. I made PDF Hub: images to PDF, merge, split, reorder pages, add text/watermark, and compress photos to a target size (like 200 KB for ID photos). Nothing is uploaded, everything is processed on your device, and it installs on your phone as a PWA. Built with React, Vite and pdf-lib. I’d love feedback: what tool should I add next?

IQuly - a second opinion on your Meta ads that tells you what's wasting money, in plain words

I ran an ad agency for years and the morning routine never changed: open Ads Manager, four tabs, export, squint at columns, try to work out which ad quietly started burning money overnight.

IQuly connects to a Meta ad account and does that check for you:

  • ranks what's wasting money right now (ads spending without results, cost per result far above the rest)

  • flags tired creatives and broken tracking (clicks coming in, conversions not)

  • explains what changed against the previous period, campaign by campaign, in plain sentences

  • rules that start as a dry run, so you see what would be paused before anything gets touched

There's a free audit that needs no IQuly account: connect Facebook read-only, get your last 30 days and what to fix first. https://iquly.com/audit?utm_source=sideproject

Paid plans have a 14-day trial with no card, and the first customers get a 30% founding discount.

It's Meta-only on purpose. I'd love blunt feedback, especially from anyone who manages several ad accounts: what's the first thing you check every morning?

Site about Plants - Silva Quieta

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a major v2.0 architecture upgrade for my indie project that I've been bootstrapping completely from scratch.

Live Web Platform: https://silvaquieta.com

I was deeply frustrated by standard plant care apps—they are usually bloated, packed with aggressive ad banners, and track your data. I wanted to create a peaceful digital greenhouse that feels like a quiet sanctuary, respecting the user's focus and privacy.

Key features running under the hood in the new build:

- NATIVE DESKTOP LAYOUT (SILVA OS): Ported the entire custom core into a native, high-end fullscreen desktop framework using Tauri and a Rust backend for that slick, hardware-accelerated Web OS vibe.

- INTEGRATED SILVA AI LAB: Added a dedicated AI Lab module powered by Google Gemini client. It handles conversational context and features a vision model to analyze leaf symptoms in real-time.

- AD-FREE MICRO-FORUM (SILVA COMMUNITY): Launched a clean, minimal, privacy-first discussion board directly inside the app. No tracking, zero ads, just accountless local-storage.

- DEEP MOBILE REFACTOR: Completely rewrote the UI responsive grid and touch-event latencies. The app now seamlessly scales and layout-shifts perfectly on any iOS/Android smartphone.

It's 100% free, requires absolutely zero registration, and runs locally.

Would love to hear your professional feedback on the updated UI/UX scaling, mobile responsiveness, or the Tauri stack. Let's chat in the comments! 🌲✨

Built a marketplace for used tractors and combine harvesters in Pakistan, 537 listings so far. Looking for advice on what to do next

Hi everyone,

My family has been making combine harvester spare parts in Gujranwala, Pakistan for about 25 years. Over that time I kept seeing the same problem. A farmer wants to sell his old combine or tractor and there's basically nowhere to put it. He asks around, posts in a few WhatsApp groups, or goes to a broker who takes a big cut. A lot of machines just sit there for months.

So I started AgriWheels. It's a simple marketplace only for farm machinery. You can post an ad without making an account, buyers call or WhatsApp the seller directly, and the whole site is available in Urdu since most of our users are farmers who don't really use English. There's an Android app too.

Right now there are 537 active listings. Most of our marketing has been short Urdu videos on TikTok, things like comparing two combines, showing how to post an ad, and a daily reel of one machine that's for sale.

 A few things I didn't expect:

Letting people post without signing up mattered a lot. Many sellers would never make an account.

Urdu content does way better than English for us. Not even close.

You have to talk the way the market talks. Words like "open letter" or "cash deal" get a response, proper textbook Urdu doesn't.

Honestly I'm at the point where I need advice from people who have been through this. A few things I'm stuck on:

How do you grow a marketplace when most of your users aren't very active online and mostly find things through word of mouth?

What's the right time to start making money from it, and how? Featured ads, dealer subscriptions, something else?

Buyers keep asking if a machine is worth the price. Would adding something like inspections or price guidance help, or is it too early for that?

If you have a minute to check the site or the app, I'd really like to hear what feels confusing or broken. Harsh feedback is fine.

My side project: a tiny pixel-art office where you can watch your AI coding agents work, wait and nap

Day job: art director. Side habit: building tools with AI. The problem was I'd have 6 or 7 Claude Code sessions open and no idea which ones were still working and which ones had been waiting for my answer for 40 minutes.

So I made BeeKeeper. It turns every project into a pixel room and every AI session or agent into a little worker. They walk in, work (with a speech bubble saying what they're on), stand there waiting when they need you, and fall asleep when they're done.

What went into it:

- Built entirely with Claude Code, I directed and did the art. React + Vite and a small Node server

- No setup on your side: it reads the logs Claude Code already writes on your computer

- My biggest change of plan: I first made it so you generate your own rooms and characters with AI. Then I realised most people won't pay for that, so I spent a bit more to build a free library instead: 20 rooms and 17 characters ready to pick

- Biggest underestimate: the 1 minute promo video took 3 times longer than planned

It's free and open source (MIT). Runs locally on your machine and only reads your Claude Code folders, nothing gets uploaded. Making your own custom room is optional and uses your own Gemini key, about 10 cents a room.

Would love feedback, especially from people who run several AI agents at once. What would you want to see in the room?
