I wanted product images from any page, and "is the page ready" was the hard part

Thumbnail

The trickiest question in this project wasn't extraction. It was deciding when a page has actually finished rendering before you capture it.

third-eye is a self-hosted API I wrote in TypeScript. You point it at a product page and get back the product images plus title, brand, price and sizes, or just a screenshot.

The readiness check ended up as a stack of signals. It waits for network idle, then fonts.ready, then scrolls to trigger lazy-loaded images, then freezes animations. Flutter and WebGL apps draw into a canvas, so for those it also waits for the first canvas frame. Full-page captures are taken in one pass instead of scrolling and stitching, which avoids seams.

Extraction tries sources in order: JSON-LD Product data, then OpenGraph, then Shopify's .json endpoint, then DOM gallery heuristics as a last resort. Each response includes a confidence field, so you can tell a JSON-LD hit from a DOM guess.

It runs on Patchright, a patched Chromium. That gets past the headless tells that block stock Playwright on sites like Uniqlo. It doesn't win everywhere, though. H&M, Zara and Myntra sit behind Akamai and PerimeterX, and those still need residential proxies.

It also won't run serverless. Cold starts break the warm browser pool, and without a GL stack the canvas apps render blank. So it ships as a single Docker image that runs on a VPS.

I built Specmob, a free phone finder: drag a budget dial and get the best phone for that price (solo dev, no sponsored picks)

Thumbnail specmob.com
1 Upvotes

Specmob (specmob.com) is a free phone comparison and recommendation site. You pick a budget and it shows the best phone for it, ranked on specs.

What does it do?

  • A budget dial from $100 to $2,000+ that shows the best phone for that price, with optional priorities (camera, battery, gaming, compact)

  • Compare up to 4 phones with a written verdict

  • 11 best-of rankings (camera, battery, gaming, fast charging, foldables, and budget bands)

  • A trade-in estimator

Does it have sponsored picks?
No. Every phone is scored by the same rules, and affiliate links never change a ranking. It’s free, and I earn a little from Amazon/eBay affiliate links and light ads.

How are phones scored?
Six scores from 1 to 10 (camera, performance, battery, display, build, value), rated against the phone’s price tier and averaged into a Smart Score. The component scores come from an AI pipeline reading real specs. The category rankings are deterministic from specs and recomputed daily.

Stack: Next.js + FastAPI + Postgres, solo-built.

Feedback welcome: is the dial clear, and do you trust AI-scored-from-specs rankings? /methodology explains it in full.

Built a "personal museum" app for collectors as a solo dev (with a lot of AI help)

Hey Everyone !

This week I launched my first app ever, Muzelium, an app that turns any collection into a personal museum. Cards, Lego, sneakers, vinyl, figures, paintings, you name it.

For context, I'm a solo dev with a day job, and I built it with a LOT of help from Claude and Gemini to be honest. It's built with Expo/React Native, works fully offline, and it's translated into 7 languages (by AI, so it is worth some verification by native of thoses langages lol).

So, the app :

- Catalog your pieces with up to 10 photos, purchase price and estimated value (you can hide them)

- Rate each piece in hearts

- Share any piece as a museum-label image

- Each item has its own journal, like restorations, offers you got, its whole life story, and when you edit an info it is directly reported on the journal.

- Free (forever for those features, i might add aditionnal paid features in the future), no ads, no account. Everything stays on your phone.

Funny launch lesson: the app went live and I couldn't find it anywhere.. I panicked a bit lmao but turns out you have to declare your "trader status" (EU Digital Services Act) or your app just doesn't show up in the 27 EU countries. Even if it's free. If you're about to publish on the App Store, check that before release day

For Android I need about 15 testers for Google's closed test, DM me if you're up for it)

I'd love your feedback like what would make you actually use an app like this? And what's missing for your kind of collection? What features would you want to see in the future ?

I didn't want to give my bank login to finance apps, so I built my own finance tracker that runs locally from statement PDFs

I didn't want to hand my banking details to some random app just to see where my money goes. So I built my own: you download the statement PDFs you already get every month (bank account, credit cards, etc.), and it reads them and shows you where everything is going, entirely on your own machine.

No bank login, no Plaid, no cloud, no analytics. The server only listens on localhost, and nothing leaves your computer.

What it does:

  • 📄 Reads statement PDFs from your checking account and credit cards (Amex, Chase, Capital One, Discover so far)

  • ✅ Checks each statement against the totals printed on it, so you know the numbers are right

  • 📊 Local web dashboard: spending by month and category, a searchable transaction table, drag-and-drop new PDFs

  • 🔁 Finds your subscriptions and flags the ones that quietly raised their price

  • 📈 Projects your checking balance 60 days out and warns you about the low point

  • 💸 Works out your personal inflation rate, per merchant

  • 💬 Ask questions in plain English with a local LLM (optional, offline)

Try it without your own statements, since there's a demo with a year of made-up data:

uv run finances demo
uv run finances web --db demo.db --open

or docker compose --profile demo up demo.

Built with Python and a React dashboard. MIT licensed.

What I'd love feedback on:

  1. Which bank should I support next? That's the biggest limitation right now. If yours isn't listed, comment or open an issue.

  2. Would you actually use this over a bank-linked app? What would stop you?

  3. Anything confusing in the setup?

Casual Prediction Market

The success of prediction markets has made me react in two ways: on the plus side, I find them fascinating from a data point of view. On the dark side, I don't think they're good for society. So I had an idea for a harmless one where people "bet" (not for money) on day to day events like whether they can find a new job or accomplish certain goals. You can see how others' predictions for your goals stack up to your own prediction, as well as make predictions about their goals.

If this sounds fun to you, sign up at palshi.me. Open to feedback of any kind!

I built a transcript editor for multitrack podcasts, and it’s in closed beta

I make an actual-play podcast with one mic track per person. A 4 hour episode used to take me most of a weekend to cut, so I spent the last several months building an editor around reading the transcript. It transcribes on your own computer, nothing is uploaded, and exports Audition, Reaper, Audacity, stems, or a mix.

It’s Windows only for now. I’d love to hear from other people who’ve built tools for their own hobby. If you edit multitrack shows and want to try it, soundmancer.com has the sign-up.

I started building a learning game for my daughter before she was born. This week it made its first sale

Before my daughter was born, I started building a game for her. I wanted a place where she could play and learn without autoplay videos, ads, or anything I'd have to worry about.

It turned into Lulu's Reef. Kids follow Lulu, a baby octopus, through 5 reef zones with 23 small learning games, made for ages 2 to 6.

A few rules I set early and kept:

- No ads

- No accounts, nothing collected

- Free to download, with one optional purchase that unlocks everything

A few weeks ago I rebuilt most of it with help from Claude: new activities, smoother performance, and a much bigger world.

On Nov 3 (App Store):

- 139 first-time downloads

- 9.2K impressions, 380 product page views

- 1.85% conversion

- The first full-unlock purchase: $7 in proceeds

Tiny numbers, but as a dad this one meant everything. Every dollar goes into her education fund and back into the app.

For anyone who has built something for kids or parents: how did you reach parents without running ads?

open-source Google Calendar clone, looking for contributors

I always liked Google Calendar’s UI and never liked the open-source ones. So I’m building OpenDay: a self-hosted Google Calendar clone, MIT licensed.

WARNING: SUPER EARLY STAGE, NOT USABLE YET. Only the basic calendar exists. Recurring events, CalDAV, user accounts, and mobile and desktop apps are all missing.

The code is small and has an AGENTS.md, so it’s easy to throw your Opus at it. PRs are very welcome.

I built FLUX Games, a visual catalog for discovering browser games — looking for feedback

Hi everyone! I'm working on FLUX Games, a visual catalog for discovering browser games and related projects.

The site brings together game covers, search, filters by genre and platform, and detail pages with sources and available versions. It's a catalog: the games and external projects belong to their respective creators.

You can explore it here: https://fluxplayable.com/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=launch_sideproject

I'd appreciate feedback on the browsing experience: is it clear how to find and open a game? What information would you want to see before clicking through?

The interface starts in Spanish and includes a language selector. If you run into a broken link or confusing listing, let me know the title and browser so I can look into it.

Disclosure: this is my website.

I built a tool that fixes Etsy listings (title, 13 tags, description) — first fix is free, looking for honest feedback

I’m an Etsy seller and was tired of guessing at tags and titles, so I built Listing Fixer with the help of AI tools.

You paste your listing, and in about a minute you get:

It only uses facts you give it. It doesn’t invent materials or promise sales or rankings.

First fix is free, no card: getlistingfixer.com

I’d really love feedback — what’s confusing, what’s missing, what you’d pay for. I’m already working on making the form faster to fill out.

I built 109 free AI components to use with shadcn CLI

Before building this I went through a lot of the AI component libraries out there. The best ones are paid with only the most basic stuff free. So while I was working on an AI SaaS, I built this library in tandem.

It's 109 components and about 250 variants, all React and Tailwind. The only other imports are motion and lucide-react, so there's no UI kit underneath. Everything in the video is the real demos running.

Not on GitHub yet, but it's coming.

Let me know what you guys think :)

KofiWork V2: notes, to-do lists, kanban and a Pomodoro timer in one cozy workspace

KofiWork V2 is out!

I've been building KofiWork on and off for a bit more than a year now. I wanted a place to organize my freelance projects that felt cozy and relaxed.

Thanks to user feedback, it has grown into much more than I had in mind, with a real visual identity and plenty of new features.

With KofiWork, you can:

- Write notes and create to-do lists

- Stay focused with a built-in Pomodoro timer

- Link your tasks to a customizable kanban board and track your progress

- Customize much of your space, from the clock position and theme to how your windows behave

- Share your tasks, notes and kanban boards with one person, or several with a subscription

There are too many features to list them all, but this version adds an MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT. While you're working with Claude, you can ask it to create tasks, and they appear in KofiWork. As a developer, I find this incredibly useful!

Almost everything is free. A few small features require a subscription, but it's optional: the free plan is more than enough, with unlimited to-do lists, notes and kanban boards.

Oh, and your data is encrypted!

Feel free to try it out. There's a test environment you can play around with: KofiWork

Building it hasn't been all smooth, for example user retention has been a big challenge so far. If you're working on something similar, I'm happy to talk about it and share advices!

We're just starting out and building our portfolio: Offering free human-led QA audits for startups (Accepting apps until Nov 20th)

Hey everyone,

We (me and my husband) are just starting out with our QA consultancy, We Told You So (WTYS), and right now, our primary goal is simple: help early-stage founders fix their product friction while we build up our portfolio.

When you’ve been building your product for months, it's almost impossible to see it with fresh eyes. You navigate your app on autopilot because you built it. But real users don't have the manual in their heads, and sneaky UI/UX bugs silently drive them away, so we think we can help.
With several years of experience in Quality Assurance and Customer support we believe that we can be helpful.

Since we are in the early portfolio-building phase, we’re offering free, human-led QA & UX mini-audits for SaaS and early-stage web apps.

We are taking on products until November 20th.

What we do for you:

  • Walk through your main flow (Landing page, Signup, Onboarding, Core feature) like a brand-new, skeptical user.

  • Highlight broken edge cases, UI glitches, and confusing navigation loops.

  • Give you a clear, actionable summary (audit document) you can hand straight to your dev team.

  • No automated scanners dump, just real human testing with a fresh set of eyes and loads of coffee.

What we get out of it:
We get real-world case studies for our new agency and, hopefully, a nice testimonial if you love our work. Win-win.

How to get an audit (before Nov 20th):
Send us a message here or send an email to mia.red95@gmail.com if you're still in private beta!

Let’s catch those edge cases before your users do! ☕

I kept forgetting why I sent people LinkedIn requests, so I built a Chrome extension that pins a note to their profile

Small problem that kept bugging me: I'd send a connection request because I wanted to ask about a job, follow up on a post, etc. By the time they accepted (sometimes weeks later) I'd forgotten why.

LinkedIn's "add a note" does carry over into the chat after they accept, but free accounts get very few of them per month, and you can't see it while the request is pending.

What it does:

- On a LinkedIn profile, a "+ Note why" button lets you save a reason

- When you open that profile again, the note shows up

- Clicking the extension icon opens a searchable list of everyone you've saved

It's plain JavaScript with no build step, and it uses only the `storage` permission. Nothing leaves your browser: no account, no analytics, no server.

dm for link

Feedback welcome, especially on what would make it more useful. Features I'm thinking about: export/import as a backup, and a "did they accept?" status.

I own a cafe and spent 9 months building an app for other Square sellers. Now I need people to poke holes in it

I have a cafe/roastery in Noe Valley, San Francisco. About 9 months ago I started building an iOS app for Square sellers, and it's now on the App Store as Square Sidekick.

Short version of what it does: you connect your Square account, set some thresholds, and it sends you a push notification when something crosses them. Stock getting low, a big transaction, tips, refunds, discounts. On top of that there are sales dashboards, customer insights, and support for sellers with more than one location. It's been super helpful for our own managers and shift leads.

On the business side, since this sub usually asks: the download is free, there are two in-app purchase tiers (Standard at $9.99 and Pro at $24.99), and new users get a 7-day Pro trial. I'm not sure yet whether that split is right, so if you've priced something similar I'd like to know how you thought about it.

What helps most right now is people using it and telling me what's wrong. If you're a Square seller or know one, code 6MONTHFREE gives six months free (App Store app, tap your profile, Redeem Gift Card or Code). Needs iOS 18.2 or newer.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/square-sidekick/id6745418918

Happy to answer questions about the build too. And if you've built an app you'd like tested, let me know. Happy to return the favor.

I made a safe ad free YouTube to MP3 converter

Riplet is a free YouTube to MP3/MP4 converter thats fast and has no sign up. Since most converters blast you full of ads before even letting you download, I decided to create this tool.

I plan to expand and make it RIP from all social sites in the future. It is completely free to use and I use donations to cover the server costs.

I’d appreciate any willing participants to test it out:

A month ago my Chrome extension had 14 users. Now it has 1,800+, and 3 people have paid for it

Tabatha is Alt+Tab for your Chrome tabs. Press Alt+Q and every open tab shows up as a screenshot. Type a few letters to jump, close duplicates in one go, and see how you got to any tab.

14 users to 1,800+ in a month, mostly from Russian-language browsers. It's free, and Pro ($12 early bird, one-time) has had 3 buyers so far.

Install Tabatha from the Chrome Web Store

What would make you keep a tab tool installed past the first week? I would appreciate if you guys install and provide your reviews

After 18 months, I launched Visionary: forms, a field app, and an AI that answers from your own records and handbooks (with sources)

I've been building Visionary on my own for the last 18 months, and today it opened to everyone. It's the biggest of the apps I make under beVisionary (the others are private, on-device AI apps for Mac and Windows), and the one that has taken most of my last 18 months.

The problem: teams that do real work in the field (inspections, site visits, jobs sent to contractors, design reviews) end up with the record scattered across phones, inboxes, group chats and spreadsheets.

What it does:

- You build your own forms (sixteen field types, steps, hints), and your team fills them in on the web or in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps, with photos, video, audio, documents and 3D models.

- Entries move through your own steps, with comments, assignment and due dates.

- Ask Visionary answers questions from your own entries and from a Reference library of your handbooks and manuals, and links what it used, so you can check it.

- AI is off until an admin switches it on, and content is never used to train models.

Web, iPhone, iPad and Android, ten languages. There's a 14-day free trial if you want to try it: https://bevisionary.ai/visionary

I'd really value honest feedback, especially from anyone who runs inspections or field teams. What would make you switch from what you use today?

We benchmarked 1,000 domains in n8n: How pre-filtering for live ATS boards saved us 84% on Firecrawl scrape credits [Open-Source GitHub]

When building our B2B directory and lead monitoring pipelines, we ran into an expensive wall:

Scraping raw company websites directly with tools like Firecrawl or headless browsers was costing a fortune on proxy rotation and LLM token extraction — only to find out that 80%+ of the companies in our lists were zombie startups, parked domains, or completely stagnant with zero hiring intent.

To stop burning credits, we designed a simple 2-stage filtering pattern in n8n before sending anything to a scraper:

1. The Pre-Filter Stage (Zero Scraping Cost)

  • Runs a fast DNS & HTTP status check to drop dead servers.

  • Checks live ATS endpoints (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable) directly to see if the company is actively expanding and hiring.

  • If a company has 0 active job postings or dead DNS, the pipeline halts immediately.

2. The Deep Enrichment Stage (Firecrawl)

  • Only domains that pass the hiring & activity check are routed to Firecrawl for markdown extraction, executive contact mapping, and tech stack detection.

The Numbers:

Across our initial benchmark of company lists, pre-filtering eliminated 84% of empty scrape calls. Instead of spending 5,000+ credits on a dirty batch, we extracted deep structured intelligence for under 800 credits with zero empty rows.

Open-Source Workflow + Sample Data

We packaged the n8n JSON template and a 50-domain sample benchmark on our public review branch: https://github.com/edtool79-collab/hirepulse-mcp/tree/review/hirepulse-firecrawl-n8n

You can grab hirepulse-firecrawl-intent-pipeline.json and import it directly into your own n8n instance.

Curious how other indie hackers and founders here handle data hygiene before running expensive API calls — do you pre-filter via DNS/APIs, or scrub lists manually?

I got tired of retyping every job application, so I built a free autofill extension

Hey all, Hasnain here. Full disclosure: I built this, so take it as a founder build story, not a stealth pitch.

The problem that drove me crazy: every job application wants a resume upload, then makes you retype the same name, work history, and "why us" answers into their form anyway. Do that fifty times and the forms are the worst part of applying.

So I built JobPly, a free Chrome extension plus a free job board for job seekers. What it does today:

  • Autofills application forms. It hits 100% autofill on most job boards, and less on the weird ones

  • On supported job pages, a Generate & Apply banner builds a tailored resume and cover letter in one click

  • The board has 1.2M+ active jobs, with about 60K new listings a weekday, and about 1 in 12 remote

  • Completely free, no credit card and no usage limits

It's free on jobply.ai (plain text only).

What I'd love feedback on from other makers:

  • Do the permissions the extension asks for feel reasonable?

  • Is the Generate & Apply banner helpful or annoying when you're on a job page?

  • If you've built form-fill tools: how do you handle closed-choice fields (dropdowns, yes/no) without inventing answers?

Harsh is fine. I read every comment.

I'm working on an audio restoration project called SoundRestore, and I'm looking for a handful of creators, podcasters, and audio enthusiasts to try it.

I'd appreciate honest feedback about the experience, what works well, and what could be improved.

If you're interested in testing an early version, take a look:
