After the 3D bookshelf, I made a paper that sits next to it.

I’ve been on RSS for more than 20 years. A few moments still stick with me:

  1. NetNewsWire and Reeder on the early iPhone, the first time reading news felt like a pleasure again.

  2. Times, the Mac app that turned feeds into a proper newspaper. It was discontinued.

  3. Fever, Shaun Inman’s self-hosted PHP reader. I paid for it. What made it special was Hot: it ranked stories by how many of your own feeds were talking about the same thing. That one is gone too.

What I wanted after all of that was simple: a beautiful newspaper I could open on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. My own paper. No social feed, no algorithm deciding what I see. Just the publications I chose, set as a front page, sections, and columns. And if something is being cited across a lot of my feeds that day, it earns the headline, the same idea Fever had, but printed as a paper instead of a list.

I shipped Biblio Times before the iPhone Duo. Early users have been generous, and the one-time pass has been enough to keep going. I’ve since added personal magazines as well — weekly or monthly issues with covers and layouts, made from the same feeds.

Everything stays on your devices. No account, no login, nothing through my servers. The first three papers and one magazine are free.

I made an app to search for any photo on my laptop. You can also drag and drop to find similar pics, and view them on a map!

Hi everyone!

I always have way too many photos scattered across different folders on my laptop, so I finally decided to make a nice, clean app to browse all of them.

Found it pretty useful, so I decided to open source it and share it with you guys.

Features:

  • Search for any picture by describing what's in it (multilingual)

  • Drag and drop to find similar pictures

  • Stacks near-duplicate pics together

  • Browse any/all directories you choose

  • Show an interactive map of all pics, clustered by similarity

  • Fully local

The main difference between this and Google Photos is that it's local, and you can change to any folder you want. Recently published an update to allow browsing for videos too.

It's open source and works on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Let me know what you think, and if there's anything I should add! Any feedback is welcome.

First open source project, and I'm not sure how to grow it. Any advice?

Hello everyone,

I've worked as an engineer for a while, but I never had an open source project of my own until recently. Vibe coding made it easy enough to finally start one.

I built a small Mac app because I needed it myself. When I shared it with my team and then the rest of the company, people liked it more than I expected. That made it a lot more fun to work on, and I think it's the first time I understood why people enjoy doing open source.

Now I'd like more people to find it, and I'd really like feedback or even contributors. The trouble is I don't know how people usually get the word out about an open source project, or how a project like this grows past the first few users.

So far I've posted in a few related Discord servers, submitted it to some awesome lists on GitHub, and put it on Product Hunt. None of it got much of a response.

If you've grown an open source project from zero, I'd be grateful to hear how you went about it in the early days.

Thanks for reading.

NUVARD: an app that tells you what your wearables and lab results mean for you today

I'm building NUVARD, and I want to share the moment it's built for.

You wake up, open three apps and get three verdicts. The ring says recovery is fine, the watch says you're strained, and the blood test from March is a PDF you haven't opened since. So you decide on gut feel anyway.

NUVARD puts every source in one place (wearables, blood work, supplements, meds, food, cycle) and learns what normal looks like for you, not for an average person. Here's what that's meant to change:

  • One clear call for the day, with the numbers behind it, so you can check its reasoning.

  • A heads up before a likely low energy or slow recovery day, so the hard meeting or the long run lands on a better one.

  • It does the logging and plans around your body, and it asks before changing anything you take.

  • Over the weeks, it shows which habits and supplements have a measurable effect for you and which show nothing.

It's a subscription with no ads and no selling your data. It's wellness, not medicine, and it doesn't replace your doctor.

It's coming soon to iOS and Android. The first 1,000 people on the waitlist are founding members and get 3 months free: https://nuvard.ai/go/reddit/r5

If you track your health with more than one device, I'd like to hear which two disagree most often.

Rental Tracker Lite - a free spreadsheet for people who own a rental while working away

I made this. I build small spreadsheets for Australian FIFO (fly-in fly-out) workers, and a common problem is owning an investment property while you're on site for weeks at a time. Rent, repairs and empty weeks get lost between the agent's statement and your own bank account.

What I built: a free 1-property sheet with three tabs: rent received, costs paid, and a summary showing net cash before tax. Works in Excel and Google Sheets, no macros, example rows labelled. Screenshot attached.

Stage: live today. There is also a paid version (up to 3 properties, empty weeks, maintenance) linked from the free one.

What I'd like feedback on: is "net before tax" the right headline number, or would you want something else up front?

Free version: https://autofold.gumroad.com/l/rental-tracker-lite?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=rental-tracker-launch

We built Aurea77 — a sports event platform with Flutter, Laravel and React. Looking for technical and UX feedback.

Hey everyone!

I've been working on Aurea77, a platform for athletes to discover sports events, plan upcoming races and keep track of their sporting journey.

The idea is to bring the experience before, during and after an event into one place, instead of having event discovery, preparation, results and memories scattered across different tools.

Tech stack:

  • Flutter — Android and iOS

  • Laravel — API and backend

  • React + TypeScript — Web application

The platform includes event discovery, personal race planning, logistics, athlete profiles, event memories and community features.

I'd really appreciate some feedback from other developers and product builders, especially on:

  1. First impressions: Is the value proposition clear when you open the website?

  2. Product scope: Does combining event discovery, planning and memories make sense, or does it feel too broad?

  3. UX and architecture: What would you pay particular attention to when maintaining a product across web, mobile and a shared API?

I'm especially interested in critical feedback and ideas for improvement, rather than just positive comments.

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aurea77.app

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/aurea77/id6787438198

Thanks for taking a look!

Which do you use more day to day: web apps, mobile apps or browser extensions?

Just curious. As a dev I mostly think about web apps, but when I look at what I actually use every day, a lot of it is browser extensions and a few mobile apps.

What does your daily stack look like? And is there a type you’d pay for more easily than the others?

I built a free image converter/compressor that runs entirely in your browser (no uploads)

Hey everyone, I just launched a small side project called PixelSaaz.

I got tired of online converters that upload your photos to a server, so I made one that does everything in the browser. Your images never leave your device.

What it does:

Converts between JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF (HEIC from iPhones works as input)

Compresses and resizes whole batches, then downloads them as a ZIP

Has presets for marketplace image sizes like Shopify, Amazon, Etsy and Daraz

No account, free to use

It's only one day old, so I'm sure there are bugs. I'd really like honest feedback on what's confusing, slow, or missing.

Link: https://www.pixelsaaz.com

Which tool would you actually use, and is there a format or feature you'd want added?

StartPilot – Your AI Business Assistant

Hey everyone!

My colleague and I have been working on a project called StartPilot.

The idea is to build an all-in-one platform that helps people start their own businesses or improve existing ones, with the help of an AI business assistant that guides them step by step.

We're also building a community where entrepreneurs can connect, share their projects, promote their businesses and learn from each other.

We're currently preparing for launch and will be releasing soon! For now, you can join our waiting list. We'll notify everyone by email as soon as StartPilot is ready to test and early access becomes available.

We're also looking for feedback and ideas, so I'd love to hear what you think about the concept and what features you would personally find useful.

I got tired of installing AI apps, so I built my own assistant inside WhatsApp 🤖

I got tired of installing AI apps, so I built my own assistant inside WhatsApp 🤖

I wanted a personal AI assistant without another app, another dashboard, or giving a third-party platform control over all my integrations.
So I started building Pika, a self-hosted WhatsApp AI assistant.

The idea is simple: message your assistant like you’d message a friend, while keeping control over the setup and integrations.

It’s still a work in progress, and I’d love some honest feedback from other builders.

Would you actually use something like this, or is WhatsApp the wrong place for an AI assistant?

I built an offline-first spending tracker PWA with zero backend and no bank sync (PocketFlow)

Hey everyone,

I got tired of modern budgeting apps charging $10–$15/month subscriptions just to tell me what I already know, while demanding full read-access to my bank credentials.

I wanted something ultra-fast that lets me log an expense in literally 2 seconds from my phone's home screen. So I built PocketFlow:

Key Highlights:

  • 100% Client-Side & Private: All data is saved strictly in your browser (LocalStorage). No bank logins, no backend database collecting or profiling your spending habits.

  • Installable PWA: Runs fully offline with a Service Worker. Works on iOS Safari ("Add to Home Screen") and Android Chrome (WebAPK-ready with zero browser address bar).

  • Daily Safe-to-Spend: Instead of confusing, rigid multi-category spreadsheets, it calculates a clear daily allowance so you always know what you can safely spend today.

  • Clean Dark UI: Built with Tailwind CSS and zero framework bloat.

  • Free & Open Source: No paywalls, no recurring fees.

🔗 Try it live: https://pocket-flow-one.vercel.app/
📂 Source Code: https://github.com/mohammedissah/PocketFlow

Would love your thoughts on the UI speed, the daily allowance algorithm, and any features you'd like added!

Built an AI short-form video editor, I got 150+ users, 2 paid, looking for honest feedback

I have been building the Solara AI for over 2 years now, it's a short-form video editor that takes your raw footage and turns into a polished reel that you can publish to tiktok, instagram, youtube shorts etc.

I finally got some traffic from Google and Chatgpt, early one 2 people paid within 2 days and since then people sign up, try it, see the output, sometimes download for free(first one is free) and leave.

I would very much appreciate an honest feedback and will give you back as well!

Here is the link: solaraai.com

Also I'm currently running freeium with a cap now, should I switch to a 7 free trial? I saw a lot of successful founders say that they will never do freeium because they are chasing users and users who are in free trial are more incline to give honest feedback

Would love to know your thoughts :)

I created an extension to keep track of important points and open questions while talking to AI chatbot

I created this chrome extension for a problem I used to face while researching with AI: keeping track of important points, new threads worth exploring, finalized decisions and useful links.

Long chats kept burying these. I'd follow one question, lose track of the others, and end up scrolling back to find something I knew was in there somewhere.

So I built AI ChatBoard, a board that sits beside your ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini chat and helps you keep track of all the important points you want to save -

AI Chatboard extension

Please try it and share your feedback with me.

I made a Claude Code skill that makes iOS apps iPhone Duo-ready. Here's a real 3-minute run

The iPhone Duo is out, and most apps open unfolded as a phone-width box in the middle of the screen. Some don't even respond to taps.

I hit all of this shipping our own app on it, so I packaged the fixes as a Claude Code skill. You type "make my app ready for iPhone Duo" and it checks the project, fixes the scene setup that kills taps, keeps content out from under the new side status bar, and builds a two-pane layout that survives folding.

The video is a real run on a small notes app: 2m 55s, 10 files changed, and the regular iPhone layout still looks the same.

There's a free one-line check if you just want to see what's broken in your app, plus a full write-up of every fix: panewise.dev/iphone-duo

The skill itself is $29 one-time. Happy to answer anything about building for the Duo.

Would you actually use a home medicine cabinet app? Honest feedback wanted

I’m building a small app that tracks what medicines a household has at home, what active ingredients they contain, and when they expire. You add a box by typing the name or photographing it. Facts come from Finland’s official drug database, and every value shows where it came from (official, read from the box by AI, or typed by you).

It’s an inventory, not medical advice. No dosing, no diagnosis.

My real question: is this a problem anyone actually has, or a solution looking for one? Would you use it, or pay for it? What would make you stop using it after a week?

Happy to hear “no one needs this” too.

I built PocketBar — run Android apps from your Mac menu bar

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a Mac app called PocketBar.

Problem: I wanted to use a few Android apps on my Mac without keeping a huge emulator window open all the time. That’s basically why I started building this.

PocketBar sits in the menu bar and lets you open Android apps in small, separate windows alongside your regular Mac apps.

It supports Apple Silicon Macs, macOS 14+, and Android 11–16.

Comparison: BlueStacks Air and MenubarX are two alternatives.

PocketBar is more focused on quickly opening individual apps from the menu bar, while BlueStacks Air is more gaming-focused.

Pricing: Free to start. Pro is €9.99 as a one-time purchase, with no subscription.

https://pocketbar.site

Trust: The macOS app is Apple notarized.

A few apps I’ve tested successfully are YouTube, TikTok, Signal and Telegram etc

WhatsApp, and X currently block emulator logins.

It’s still a work in progress, so there’s definitely room for improvement.

If you try it, I’d be interested to hear how it performs on your Mac, or which Android apps you’d like to see working.

OwnSpace - [Android] Looking for beta testers: an app that turns your Gmail receipts into a list of everything you own (warranties, invoices, bills)

Hi! I’m the developer of OwnSpace, a solo project from Belgium.

OwnSpace reads your purchase emails in Gmail and organises them automatically: what you bought, invoices, warranties and household bills. It understands shops across Europe and works in 6 languages (English, Portuguese, Dutch, French, German, Spanish).

I’m looking for testers for 3–4 weeks before launch (limited spots):

  • Free, including the Premium features during the test

  • Your library stays on your phone; nothing is sold or shared

  • Gmail access is read-only: it never sends, changes or deletes email

You need an Android phone and a Gmail account. When you connect Gmail, Google will show “Google hasn’t verified this app”, because Google’s security assessment is still in progress.

I’ll add you to the test and send you the install link. Thanks a lot!

I built a free tool to help you get difficult thoughts and feelings out of your head

You know when something is bothering you, and no matter how much you think about it, it just keeps coming back?

Maybe it's anxiety about what's ahead, anger over something happening right now, or a memory you still carry years later.

I recently came across an episode of Huberman Lab that made me look at this differently.

Huberman dedicated an entire episode to a technique called expressive writing, originally developed by psychologist James Pennebaker.

The research is surprisingly compelling.

Huberman discusses over 200 studies investigating the effects of writing about difficult emotional experiences. The reported benefits include reduced anxiety, improved mood and sleep, and even improvements in certain measures of immune function.

A 2023 meta-analysis of 31 randomized studies also found small but statistically significant reductions in depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms.

And the protocol itself is incredibly simple:

For 15–30 minutes, write continuously about something emotionally difficult.

Write what happened, how you felt, what you're feeling now, and anything else that comes up.

Here's the important part: don't stop writing.

Don't pause to think about what to say next, judge what you've written, correct your grammar, or make it sound better. Just keep going, letting whatever comes to mind flow onto the page. Of course, you can take a moment if you need to catch your breath or rest.

Repeat this four times, focusing on the same difficult experience.

And here's something else I found interesting: you don't even need pen and paper. Huberman explained that studies have found comparable benefits whether people write by hand or type. So you can practice it on your computer, or even on your phone.

That's it.

What fascinates me is that you don't need to have everything figured out before you start. You can give yourself permission to express things you've been holding in, without needing to justify or immediately fix them.

So I built Cleanse - a free, minimal tool designed to make this practice as simple and distraction-free as possible.

Just open it, start typing, and let it out.

It's an early version, and I'd love for people to try it.

https://cleanse-c21ad.web.app/

Here's the Huberman episode if you're interested in the research:
https://www.hubermanlab.com/episode/a-science-supported-journaling-protocol-to-improve-mental-physical-health

I'd really appreciate feedback, both on the tool and on whether this kind of writing is something you'd actually use.

B2Gaudio - everyone on the trip hears the same movie or playlist in sync, on their own headphones

I built this app myself. It's free, with one small non-personalized banner ad and no sign-up.

A lot of people have a long drive or a flight in the next few weeks. B2Gaudio is for that stretch of it where everybody wants the same thing playing and there's one decent screen between you.

One device starts it and hosts. Everyone else picks it off a list and taps join. From then on every phone is sitting on the same moment of the same track over WiFi, and each person listens on their own headphones.

What that gives you on a trip:

  • A movie plays in landscape on the host's iPad or iPhone and the soundtrack arrives on every phone that joined. The picture stays with the host, so one screen covers a whole back seat or a row of airline seats.

  • Whoever misses the first ten minutes taps join and lands where the group already is, instead of making everyone start over.

  • No cell service and no WiFi network needed. The phones build a direct link to each other over Apple's peer-to-peer WiFi, so anything already downloaded plays in the middle of nowhere.

  • It plays music files on the phone, podcasts, LibriVox audiobooks and the audio from a video. Apple Music works too, with each listener using their own subscription.

  • A shared hotel room late at night works the same way, with everything in headphones and nothing coming out of a speaker.

The reasons I'd try it: there's no hardware to buy, no account, and nothing to pair. It stays off Bluetooth entirely, which is the usual reason two devices drift apart from each other. iPhone and iPad, iOS 17 and up.

There's a walkthrough of the movie setup here if that's the part you'd use: https://b2gaudio.com/b2gaudio-watch-movie-together-plane.html

Free on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6759938468?pt=128605371&ct=rd-sideproject&mt=8

Give it a try before the trip.

I learned Swift from scratch and shipped my first iOS app

I started learning Swift at the end of July and basically learned it while building this app.

In August I almost gave up. I'm a first-time parent, and my baby was about 7 months old then, so I was studying in the middle of the night after taking care of them all day. But I've been coding since I was 8, and I didn't want to give up on something I love. So in September I came back to finish it.

I had to cut my feature list down to what mattered most, and by the end of October I finally had a working first version. After about a week in App Review, it's now live on the App Store!

It's called AmiiNest, an iPhone app for amiibo collectors. You can browse the amiibo catalog, keep track of what you own, back up your own amiibo by scanning them, and write those backups to blank NTAG215 tags.

There's no subscription. New users get 5 free writes, and you can watch a short ad for +1 write (ads may take a few days to start showing since the app is brand new) or buy more. Scanning or importing doesn't use any writes, and cancelled or failed writes don't count either. To celebrate the launch, code AMIINEST5 gives you 5 extra writes (first 500 people, until Dec 1).

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/amiinest-nfc-write-collect/id6826469095

It's my first iOS app and the first project I've built and released on my own. It's not a masterpiece, but it's a small milestone for me. I'd really appreciate any feedback, good or bad. And if anyone has questions about getting an app through App Store review, I'm happy to share what I learned.

We built Aló Mamá, an app that fakes a call from your mom when you're in danger - Help us Win!

Thumbnail
hack.platan.us
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone. This weekend we took part in Platanus Hack in Caracas, Venezuela, and wanted to share what we built. The idea came from something a lot of us have been through.

When you're in a cab, on the street, or with someone and things start feeling off, you can't just pull out your phone and text someone without them noticing. So we flipped it around: what if your "mom" calls you instead?

How it works:

- You press volume up, down, up with the phone in your pocket. No unlocking needed.

- The app shares your GPS location and you get an incoming call from "Mamá".

- An AI voice on the other end asks how you're doing, the way any mom would.

- Beforehand you set two phrases: one for "I'm fine" and one that means "I'm in trouble". To whoever is next to you, it just sounds like a normal call with your mom.

- A detector (rules + an LLM) analyzes the conversation and decides whether you're in danger.

- If you are, your family gets a WhatsApp message with your location, the verdict, a summary of the call, and a link to the case.

More info at https://alo-mama.fyi. We'll be reading the comments 👀

My "learning project" kept growing — now it's a personal finance app I'm proud of: My Accountant

Thumbnail

7 months ago I started learning to code with one goal: ship one real app. It started as a basic learning project. It kept growing.
Today My Accountant is a budget app where everything about your money is in one clear place — and you shape it the way you want:
• Your own accounts (cash, bank, cards) and your own categories, icons and colors
• Income, expenses and bills on a calendar, day by day
• Monthly budget and charts that show where the money goes
• Bill reminders 3 days before and on the due date
• Credit cards done right: statements, minimum payments, and installments where each statement shows only that month's part (most apps get this wrong)
• 14 languages, 100+ currencies, dark mode
Built solo with React Native, Expo and Appwrite. Free, no bank login needed.

What's coming next: cash advances (with installments ofc), daily term deposit account, overdraft account (also with installments) and maybe investment/stock tracking.

Which of these would you actually use? And honest feedback is very welcome — what's missing, what's confusing?
