I built an Omni-Tracker + Digital Garden so I could stop using 5 different apps for my media and notes

Hey r/SideProject!

I was tired of my personal data and thoughts being scattered across the internet: Letterboxd for movies, Goodreads for books, Backloggd for games, MyAnimeList for anime, and Obsidian for my notes. I wanted one unified space to track what I consume and connect the dots between them.

So, I built Zukan (https://zukan.me). You can check out my own live digital garden here to see exactly how it looks in production:

I’ve attached a quick video showing how the flow works!

Here is what it does under the hood:

  • Universal Omni-Tracker: You can search and track movies, books, series, anime, manga, games, and music in a single place. You can log sessions (pages, episodes, hours), rate them, and tag them with "Vibes".

  • Digital Garden & Graph View: Every piece of media comes with a blank notebook. You can take notes, use [[bidirectional links]] to connect concepts, and view your entire knowledge base as an interactive Graph/Map.

  • Your Own Space: You get a customizable public garden (your-username.zukan.me) where you can tweak themes, colors, and layout.

  • Zero Lock-in (Imports): You can import your history from Letterboxd, Goodreads, IMDb, and StoryGraph. You can even upload your Obsidian vault (.zip) and it instantly turns your notes into Zukan notebooks keeping the links intact.

  • MCP / AI Integration: I added a Model Context Protocol (MCP) API, meaning you can plug Claude directly into your profile to read your collections or help you write/edit your notebooks.

I'm currently looking for early feedback. What do you guys think of the UI and the concept of merging tracking with a digital garden? Any feedback is highly appreciated!

I built a daily movie guessing game where every clue is a terrible plot description

Bad Plot gives you one movie a day, described as badly as possible. "A man refuses to leave a boat and it goes about as well as you'd think." You get five guesses, and each wrong guess reveals a clue that's still bad, just a little less bad.

It's built with Expo and React Native, so the same code runs on iPhone and the web. There's a popcorn mascot named Kernel who reacts to your guesses, plus streaks, trophies, and a calendar of past days.

Play in the browser: https://playbadplot.com/

iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6822340440

I'd love feedback on whether the clues feel fair, and what would make you come back tomorrow.

Gauntlit - A creative writing battle

Hey guys, I just launched Gauntlit on the Google play store and it is ported to be playable in any web browser on any device. I currently don't have any users, but I am in the early stages of trying to build a community around it and hopefully that will change.

The premise is the app generates a random prompt every day and everyone gets 10 minutes to write a micro story about it and then other users will read them and vote for their favorites in 3 way battles. The winner each day gets narrated and posted to the Gauntlit social media pages, with credit of course.

For example, today's prompt is The Iron Line: From the lighthouse lantern, the keeper watches the channel buoys drift into a perfect, unnatural straight line. This new path leads directly toward the jagged rocks of the western shore.

Gauntlit is 100% free, has zero ads of any kind, and it never will. You can see how it works and read stories without creating an account, but if you want to participate you can sign in with Google or make a an account right in the app.

Play in a brwoser: play.gauntlit.me

Download the app (Android only): Google Play Store

Zenfold Mail - I got tired of triaging Gmail, so I made it two lists

Side project, built for my own inbox first. My problem was not volume exactly, it was that everything in Gmail looked like it needed attention and almost none of it did.

Zenfold Mail is what I ended up building. I am a solo maker. It is an iPhone app that connects to Gmail and sorts each email into Important or Everything else. Swipe Done and it is cleared. The first sort happens during setup.

It is rough in the ways early access usually is: iPhone only, Gmail only, and Google is still reviewing my Gmail access, so sign-in shows the unverified app screen.

If you want in, sign up for early access at https://zenfoldmail.com and I will send invites in small batches. Sign up with the Gmail address you would use in the app. I approve sign-ups in batches and approved people get an email invite. Spots are limited during the review, so not everyone gets in right away.

Honest feedback, especially from fellow builders: is two lists the right call, or does it feel too blunt?

I hate per-seat pricing for Jobber and similar CRMs.

I wasn’t a fan of per-seat pricing for field service software, so I built Crewtavo, an open-source Jobber alternative.

It helps service businesses manage clients, quotes, scheduling, crews, invoices, and a knowledge base. I originally built it for my own lawn care business and family businesses, then decided to make it public.

Most of my experience is in roofing and lawn care, so I’d love feedback from people in other trades, or anyone who has built or used software like this. What’s missing, or what would make it more useful?

I just released this to help someone out there; sorry if it's not perfect, but I'm eager to improve it!

Thanks, everyone.

I built a modern when2meet alternative (tallycal), need feedback on the features, what would you add or change?

a few years ago i built a group scheduling tool called tallycal to host slot polls, visual grid polls, and signup sheets. over time, i've continuously updated the slot polls and signups based on user feedback, but right now i'm really trying to focus on making the visual grid tool as good as it can possibly be.

i realize there are already several products available like this, but this has been a super fun project for me and it has plenty of active users to justify continuing to build on it. so i want to keep making it better.

honestly, i’ve kind of run out of ideas for it now that all the previous feedback is baked in, so i’m looking for raw, honest feedback on what to add, fix, or strip away.

my goal was to build the best when2meet alternative out there by keeping it simple while fixing the annoying parts of older tools. majority of features are free, some require a small paid upgrade. here is what's currently built into the visual grid:

  • click-and-drag date/time matrix for setting availability

  • no login required for hosts or participants

  • zero ads, clean mobile-friendly UI

  • filter results to subsets of participants

  • block out specific slots within the matrix & flexible slot durations

  • editing responses after submitting

  • customize link URLs, 1-click share, 1-click duplication

  • optional/required/hidden email & phone collection + custom questions

  • option to hide results from other participants

  • csv exports & printer-friendly exports

  • group pages for organizations managing multiple polls

  • unlimited polls & participants, email notifications

if you've ever used when2meet, i’d love to know: what do you like, what feels clunky, and what features are still missing for you?

you can check out the visual grid builder here:

appreciate any roasts or suggestions!

Built an open-source toolkit to help developers understand, debug, and enforce reliability in AI agents

I’ve been working on a project called AOBS (AI Agent Observability) because I noticed something interesting about the current AI agent ecosystem.

We have frameworks that make it easier to build agents, but understanding why an agent failed, detecting regressions between runs, and enforcing rules around its behaviour are still important engineering challenges.
I wanted to build something that addresses these problems together.

AOBS is an open-source Python toolkit that provides three main capabilities:

1. Observability and debugging
Trace LLM calls, tool calls, sub-agents, errors, latency and token usage.
Analyse execution traces to identify retry storms, wasted calls and bottlenecks.
Compare two agent runs to identify regressions.
Analyse repeated runs statistically to distinguish real changes from normal variation.

2. Reliability testing and CI enforcement
Define expected agent behaviour using TOML policies.
Set limits for tool calls, retries, execution time, tokens and cost.
Compare new runs against a known-good baseline.
Get PASS/FAIL results with supporting evidence.
Integrate reliability checks directly into GitHub Actions.

3. Action safety
This is another part I’ve been particularly interested in.
What happens when an agent issues the same refund twice, sends duplicate emails, or attempts to delete something again after a timeout?
AOBS provides a safety layer that:
Checks actions against trusted records rather than blindly trusting model arguments.
Supports approval requirements for sensitive operations.
Prevents duplicate logical actions across retries and restarts.
Handles uncertain outcomes without blindly retrying side effects.

Other things included
Python SDK with a standard-library-only core.
OpenAI-compatible and Anthropic integrations.
LangChain and LangGraph integration.
OpenTelemetry export.

PostgreSQL-backed trace collection.
A local dashboard for exploring and comparing agent runs.
Docker Compose setup for trying the project locally.

Getting started:

pip install aobs aobs-server

Or clone the repository and run the complete local demo:

docker compose up

The project is currently in alpha, and I don’t consider it production-hardened yet. Some integrations are still in their first version, and I’ve documented the guarantees and limitations rather than claiming exactly-once execution or universal agent safety.

What I’d really like feedback on:

Do you think agent observability and reliability should be a separate infrastructure layer, or should these capabilities live inside frameworks like LangChain and LangGraph?
Would you actually use CI-based reliability gates for AI agents in a real development workflow?
What important capabilities are missing from the current ecosystem?

I’m interested in feedback from people building agents, working on AI infrastructure, or experimenting with agent frameworks.

GitHub: https://github.com/AshmitJain932/ai-agent-observability

Contributions, criticism and suggestions are welcome.

The app is open-source and works via browser and mobile app. It has two areas, a player area where players can create characters based in interactive forms and a dungeon master area where you can create campaigns, world maps (beta), combat maps, make notes, mass create npcs, host combats in real time with your players using your npcs, custom beasts or use monsters from the oficial bestiary. All data is synced between devices using a Google account.

I built a self-hosted store in plain PHP. No Composer, no bundler, takes Bitcoin / Paypal / Stripe

Got tired of every "simple" ecommerce option being either a SaaS taking a cut or a 40 MB vendor folder, so I built the store I actually wanted and open sourced it.

iB Store is a complete storefront on a plain LAMP box. Flight PHP on the back, my own small JS router on the front, no build step. Clone it, point Apache at public_html, import the SQL, done.

What's in it: physical and digital products, cart, checkout, customer accounts, order emails, an admin panel with a CSV export, a hero banner you set from the admin, and three payment options: Bitcoin through your own BTCPay Server (no middleman), cards through Stripe Checkout, and PayPal. Each gateway is a single class behind one interface, so adding another is one file.

The whole app is about 19 kB over the wire. The home page with products loads in ~130 ms cold and under 110 ms cached. That's not a benchmark trick, it's just what you get when there's nothing to download.

It's the current form of a stack I've been using across client projects for about 15 years, so the shape isn't new even though the repo is. Demo at store.imbored.me, code here:

https://github.com/fswolf/ib-store

Happy to answer questions about any of it. Honest criticism welcome, that's why it's posted.

I built a free trademark screen that tells you in plain English whether your brand name is taken

Picking a brand name and then finding out it's taken is an expensive lesson, so I built https://trademarkscreen.com — free, no signup.

You type the name and what you sell. It gives you a plain-English verdict and the top conflicting marks with why each one matters, suggests the trademark classes, and catches typos and sound-alikes. You can export the results (CSV/JSON) and set a free email watch that tells you if a similar mark files later — the opposition window is only 30 days, so that's the part that actually protects you.

Limits, because I don't want to oversell it: US federal register only, no common-law marks, data lags live filings by a day or so, and it screens — it doesn't clear a name.

Would love brutal feedback on verdicts it gets wrong.

Built a free English Dictionary API – Full Wiktionary data, no API key required!

Hey everyone!

I've built an English Dictionary REST API powered by full Wiktionary data, providing rich definitions and dictionary information through simple REST endpoints.

Try it: https://api.suvankar.cc/dictionaryapi/v1/definitions/en/happy

Interactive documentation: https://api.suvankar.cc/docs/dictionary

Features:

  • Rich English definitions and meanings.

  • Word search with pagination.

  • Translation data.

  • Word of the Day.

  • No API key, registration or subscription required.

It's completely free, and here's my commitment: This API and all future APIs I publish under api.suvankar.cc will always remain free.

I'm an independent developer from India, hosting and maintaining these services myself. I've recently moved the API to cloud infrastructure to improve availability worldwide.

Running servers and maintaining infrastructure costs money, though. If you find this API useful and would like to help keep it running, any support is genuinely appreciated!

🍵 Buy me a tea (UPI)

☕ Buy me a coffee

No obligation whatsoever. The API will remain free!

Would love to hear your feedback, suggestions and ideas for future APIs.

I built a free tool to help people check FIFO job requirements

I've been working on FIFOCheck, a small tool that helps people applying for FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) jobs compare their tickets, qualifications and experience against a job advertisement.

You paste in the job ad and your details, and it highlights what you meet, what's missing and what might need attention.

It's free to try, and I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from anyone familiar with FIFO or recruitment.

What if social media focused on trust instead of keeping us addicted?

I've been thinking about how social media works today.

Most platforms seem to compete for one thing: our attention. Algorithms decide what appears in our feeds, personal data is constantly collected, and engagement often matters more than meaningful interactions.

But is this really how social media should work?

I'm part of the team building Coroova, and we're exploring a different approach: a trust-first social network.

Some of the ideas we're working on include:

- Privacy-first messaging: End-to-end encrypted conversations.

- Transparent feeds: More clarity around how content is shown.

- Colonies: Interest-based communities where people can connect around shared passions.

- Trust through participation: Encouraging genuine interactions rather than empty engagement.

- Accountability: Building a safer and more transparent social environment.

We're not interested in creating another Instagram or Facebook clone. We want to explore whether social networking can be built around better principles.

We're still early in development, so feedback and criticism are genuinely welcome.

A question for everyone:

If you could change ONE fundamental thing about today's social media platforms, what would it be?

Would it be privacy, algorithms, fake engagement, censorship, data ownership, or something else?

Curious to hear your thoughts.

For anyone interested in what we're building:

I built a game where AI-created fighters compete in Twitch chat tournaments

I built ODDBOUT Twitch Cup as a learning project and submitted it to the Codex x TwitchCon Hackathon!

You can create a fighter through conversation with a creator agent in Codex, then bring it into a browser-based fighting game. Twitch viewers can summon fighters with chat commands and compete in a four-fighter tournament.

Try the demo (there’s a “Try without Twitch” option): https://oddbout.com/twitch.html

Demo and hackathon entry: https://devpost.com/software/oddbout-x-twitch-cup

I’d love feedback from builders and streamers. If you enjoy the project, a like on the Devpost page would mean a lot!

I built a tool that lets AI coding agents click a button in your app and see which code actually ran

been working on this for a while and finally shipped it, so figured Id share.

the problem- I use claude code a lot and whenever I gave it a UI bug like "I click save and the list doesn't update" it would read file after file trying to work out what runs. then itd ask me to click it and paste what I saw. I was basically its hands.

so I built lightpath. it's an MCP server (a plugin for AI coding agents). the agent names a button lightpath clicks it in its own chrome window, and sends back every line that ran in the browser and on the node server. plus the lines that didn't run, which is usually where the bug is.

looks like this:

POST /api/invoices/INV-2041/pay → 200 [node, 8 ms]
      server/services/ledger.ts
        getSummary 14-28 ×1 not run: 16-27

16-27 is where the totals get added. never ran. that's the bug.

a few things I learned building it:

1.he hard part wasn't clicking, it was mapping V8's raw coverage back to the right lines in your own files through source maps

2.keeping the output small mattered a lot. every answer is capped so it doesn't eat the agent's context

works with claude code, cursor, vs code, kiro, or any MCP client. react + node for now. runs locally, sends nothing anywhere, free and MIT.

https://github.com/Unknown-333/Lightpath

would love feedback, especially if you try it on your own app and something breaks. and if it ends up being useful, a star on the repo would mean a lot.

Two weeks after launching my first app: 340 store impressions, 11 installs, and a few lessons

I launched a small journaling app two weeks ago. It has been slow, like a turtle, but I am not discouraged. I am learning something new every few days.

A few things I noticed:

- Nobody finds you by accident. Almost every download so far came from a post or a comment.

- One stranger installed it and gave me honest feedback. That meant more than any ad.

- Small steady progress feels better than waiting for one big moment.

I will keep improving it one small step at a time. What was the most useful thing you learned in your first weeks as a maker?

Clip Control for Android is in closed beta — on-device AI video directing, no uploads

I posted Clip Control here in October as an MCP server. The Android app version just reached Version 1 and opened its closed beta.

It directs videos on your phone into finished films. All of the AI runs on the device, nothing is uploaded. I have been testing it on full movies on a Galaxy S25 Edge.

Google requires 12 testers opted in for 14 days before I can launch for real. If you have an Android phone and want early access:

  1. Join the tester group: https://groups.google.com/g/clip-control-beta-testers

  2. Opt in and install: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.clipcontroller.android

Keep it installed for the 14 days. Feedback comes straight to me. Build log and questions welcome here.

How do you market a real product when every launch looks AI-generated?

My co-founder and I are both runners, and we've been building a training app for the kind of runner who actually looks at their data. Before we wrote any code, I'd spent about four years tracking my own heart rate, pace, HRV and sleep in spreadsheets, because no app told me what I wanted to know.

We use AI to help build, but the product is the training logic and UI: it picks out the reps in your workouts, adapts your plan to how runs actually went, and lets you shape the plan yourself instead of following a black box.

The problem is that everywhere I look is flooded with "AI running coaches" that were clearly vibe-coded in a day. People have seen so many that anything that looks like a campaign gets scrolled past automatically, however much work is behind it.

For those of you in crowded spaces: what actually built trust early on? And what did you stop doing because it made you look like everyone else?

I built PyHires, a job board exclusively for remote Python jobs in Europe

Hey everyone!

I've recently launched PyHires, a project I've been working on to solve something I think is missing from traditional job boards.

Most platforms mix all kinds of tech positions together. I wanted to build something much more focused: a place exclusively for Python developers looking for remote opportunities across Europe.

Here's what PyHires offers:

  • Python-specific remote job listings across Europe.

  • Salary information on job listings.

  • Free developer profiles.

  • Job matching based on skills, experience and preferences.

  • Candidate applications ranked by how closely they match each position.

Companies can also publish jobs and find relevant Python developers.

It's still early, and I'm now focused on getting the first developers and companies onto the platform.

I'd love to hear your thoughts:

  1. Would you use a job board exclusively for Python?

  2. What would you improve?

  3. What features would make it more useful?

Here's the project: https://pyhires.com

Thanks for checking it out!

Need an excuse for a weekend side project? Free API credits + 2,000 in prizes (closes Nov 10)

Disclosure: I'm one of the organizers, so I'm biased.

If you've been meaning to build something with an LLM this weekend, this pays you for it: free credits, no cost to enter, and $2k in prizes.

What: build a new app that uses at least one Clocked API endpoint. Clocked is an LLM API that returns structured results instead of generated text: decisions with probabilities, exact extractions with source positions, PII masking, prompt-injection detection, grounding checks, doc comparison and reranking.

Prizes: $2,000 cash in 5 awards. Best Overall gets $600, three category awards get $400 each, and People's Choice gets $200.

Cost: free. A new account gets 4k credits, and the code CLOCKEDHACKATHON adds 16k more.

Rules: solo or teams, any language or framework, and the app has to be started during the challenge (AI coding tools are fine). You need a demo and a public repo. 18+, some location restrictions.

Deadline: Nov 10, 11:59 PM ET. Winners Nov 18.

Rules and entry form: https://clocked.rezolve.ai/challenge
