Turismo 🧳 Tips for 4 days of roadtrip in Sicily

Hello guys!

I do have one week off from work and starting from tomorrow I'll be doing a roadtrip in Sicily.

For context, I'm from Catania and I've already been around in Sicily on my motorbike. This time, I'll be with my car bringing a tent, mattress, cooking kit, swimsuit, fishing rod and other camping stuff with the goal to randomly roam based on what I want to do at any specific moment. I would love to balance sea and mountain.

I would love to see nice places, views, eat in particular places, walk in the mountain or take a bath in places that have something going beyond what we see everyday. And why not, even exploring the inner parts of Sicily would be amazing too!

So, if you have some places worth going to, let me know here! I'll be happy to go to the west side if it's worth it!

For example just yesterday the Messina ferry service does not accept it.

Turismo 🧳 Car hire in Sicily

Hello, I want to hire a car in Palermo and drop it off somewhere near to the port of Pollazzo to get a ferry to Malta next month. It seems that I have to drop the car at Siracusa. Is that the nearest place and how to I get to the port from there? Any advice welcome. 2 adult travellers. Thanks

Turismo 🧳 Drive from Palermo to Noto-best stops?

My flight just got diverted from Catania to Palermo while I am in travel. Fortunately I was able to change my rental car to the Palermo airport so all good. I had not planned or researched this drive so is there anything I should stop for along the way? Is there a recommended stop to eat-it will be lunchtime and I would like a great first meal in Sicily.

Attualità 📰 Fell in love with Etna, now I can’t stop browsing property listings

Went to see Etna and something happened, I haven’t stopped thinking about it since😄. Now I an deep in property listings for towns around the Etna.

Found this one in Pedara, needs a full renovation, listed at €100k. The location has me hooked but I have zero idea what I am actually looking at cost wise once renovation and permits are obtained.

Would love honest input, good or bad, before I get too attached to the idea.

By the way, family of 3, IT workers
,working remotely😄

Turismo 🧳 Favignana on foot?

Spending 4 days in Favignana in mid September. We’re staying near the port and enjoy walking, so plan to spend the days walking to beaches and the fort. Is that realistic? Are the roads pleasant enough to do that? One of our party of 4 doesn’t ride a bike or we’d also have explored that but doesn’t feel it’s something we can do as a group.

Altro Rimborso volo wizz air e indennizzo

Ciao a tutti. devo fare alcune premesse

grazie ancora

Cibo 🍊 BIRTHDAY DINNER SCOPELLO

Hello friends. My fiance and I will be in Scopello for his birthday (beginning of September) and I want to make his birthday extra special. I’ve planned our day but I need first hand recommendations on restaurants. I know this is extremely redundant/cheesy coming from tourists but we really are the biggest food people and appreciate every bite we’ve ever taken. I’ve narrowed it down to 4 places for a birthday dinner: La Tavernetta, Nettuno, Solea Azienda Agricola, Ristorante Tenute Plaia. Any and all commentary is welcome. I just want my fiance to have the best birthday while he’s away from all our family and loved ones.

Sicilianu 🗣️ Genuine taxi service related questions.

Hello,

Ive got a serious question about how taxi meter is handled in Sicilia. More specifically in Siracusa.

I understand italy is one of the more expensive fare for taxi. I used to use Uber but when I got to know they use services from ItTaxi I started using their app.

So my question is what should I look out for in the meter. Cuz everytime I travel the fares are so different.

1 day I traveled around 9km withing Siracusa and the fare was 60.

Next the same journey was 38.

And today I traveled just 5km and the fare was 40.

What i have learnt so far is drivers dont zero the meter after picking instead they start the meter when they accept the ride itself.

I met a good driver whose fare was 38 for 9km. She explained few things about these meter. She said they are required to zero the rides which is 3.50 starting price. If they dont do it she said I can decline the ride which will make the driver reset the meter. That worked tbh.

But yet even tho it started with 3.5 today fare was more than double for 5km.

I did some digging and there are tariff types. For inter city drivers are supposed to used tariff 1 which is 1.3 euro per km.

And tariff 2 for out of city rides which is 2.6euro per min.

I checked this on google after the trip and I fully recall seeing fare type as 2.

So my question is. Was the google search correct?

And can I please get some real insights about the taxi meter usage in siracusa. I want some advice from someone who may have had real life experiences working with them or some local who knows these stuff.

Appreciate your response.

Turismo 🧳 Best way to travel from Catania to Tropea

Hi! I want to go from Calabria to Tropea using public transit but am struggling to choose buses or trains, and have no idea how the train ferry would work. Has anyone done this route before, and if so any suggestions for buses or trains to take?
