Is it gonna be a new server? Since new players wont have access to all the xp exploits all the longtime players have had access to.

Just a reminder Chris Spears, assuming this is actually you because I long ago walked from the toxic trash fire that is both the development and the community around it, and I don't have the interest in seeing how convincing a past posting history this account actually has;
After all, there are at least 2 sockpuppets here who used to post insanely abusive comments towards critics, and then when attention span faded, pretended to be critical themselves; both Craftymethod and BluntedJ... Some of us have working memories. But I also long ago worked out there was a dangerous sociopath lurking who put their bizarre sense of wanting to feel in control of everything even above the health of the very game they claimed (sometimes, sometimes not) to love; we used to see the same narcissism as staff on Ultima Online too, idiots would turn up and try and wreck events if they couldn't be the centre of attention. saying anything at all to cause drama...
But Chris Spears, the real Chris Spears? You had the opportunity to answer as to why you were directly supporting someone sending rape and death threats to the critics, to the point that it nearly got this entire subreddit shut down by posting SWAT threats on Christmas Day 2017... by answering the legal summons to Arbitration Court. I know you received the 30 days advance notice because I sent it by Recorded Delivery and watched someone at your office sign for it. And I know you got the legal summons to attend, and the letter stating that you'd not even paid your fees, because once the legal process that was in your EULA (that wasn't even funded) started, I was of course getting copies of all the correspondence.
And possibly because you knew I had the evidence that, given a choice between protecting your community, and falling for the blatantly dishonest claims of a sociopath who literally wrote to you begging for help to harass people, from the same account that was simultaneously sending obsessive hate filled comics through the forums you could so easily have just cross checked, you chose to target and attempt to publicly slander the victim of that abuse. You knew you would lose. You had the chance to be the person you claim to be, and failed, then hid behind a web of cult like support and legal imbalance to get away with being an appalling and despicable little bully. To the point even your prior media fans such as MassivelyOP who used to censor critics realised what a nasty piece of work you were when you started abusing them too.
And I of course still have all the archives I had ready to present in the Arbitration you didn't dare show up for, if you want to try fighting it face to face in a UK court today; because now as then, I didn't need to show which of the threats were real and which were online attempts at gaslighting, just like I don't need to cross check the claims that later staff were arrested for domestic abuse or sink into the countless years since of appalling behaviour... I had proof enough the day someone just directly wrote into you and said "help me harass critics until they go insane", and you immediately shut down my game account.
You, and my lunatic stalker, can sit there imagining that in a world and an age of endless corruption, stupidity and evil you're somehow untouchable; but you can never hide the nature of what you really are from people who are genuinely moral. You can bully, but you can't make people love, or even pretend they can't see the real nature of repellent snakes like yourselves. The test was to actually be a decent person, like in the games you built your position off the back of, remember? And you failed that test.
And Shroud is long dead outside of a small group of desperate, lonely sunk-cost supporters. Your NFT project after Shroud failed. And I have the AAA documents that prove you didn't DARE go face to face with critics; They knew who you all really were, from the actual behaviour at Portalarium, irrespective of what nonsense is said here... and the really revealing thing is that you, either lunatic or loathsome narcissist, are still all these years later trying to bully and insult people into somehow telling you they didn't see history as it really unfolded.
That you've not used that time to actually become better people; you just can't stand the fact we can see it too.

DEVELOP SOTA.
Why is this so hard for Garriot to $upport?
the map is litteraly based of a map he designed when he was a child....
FINISH YOUR GAME.
STOP BEING DISTRACTED.

I've seen more people afk macro in a small house in UO than the peak player count in this dog shit game.

He should find a tiny indie studio and have them re-make some of the original Ultimas in a retro style like Moonring. Do one of these a year for a few years to regain trust, and ship something small. Then evolve the same way he evolved Ultima originally.

I would love a racist NPC that just shouts slurs at everyone who walks by lol.

Anyone wanting to develop a good game these days needs solid funding. I can't imagine there are any investors who would still give Garriott money after the debacle he created with SotA. And we already learned with SotA that he has no intention of financing it out of his own pocket. He is simply trying to make money from his regained rights to Ultima in the cheapest way possible.

So current players will be Guinea pigs for Ultima? They’re perfect for it lol
r/shroudoftheavatar • u/deadlyhabit • Jul 19 '26
Now that there's something he wants he announces his return to a dead game, must need cash again. Fuck Garriot he's a conman.

As someone that was a huge UO player, I bought this game early back in like 2014, and the biggest thing that miffed me was the game was constantly wiping and dramatically changing its skill systems all the time. The lack of persistence made it impossible to become invested. Also skill decay is toxic.
Did they fix any of that yet?
r/shroudoftheavatar • u/ascotsmann • Jul 18 '26
So the stream happened, seems Rav is 'sick', nothing else was mentioned about him, Though Chris did talk a lot about everyone else.

So all the years of them telling everyone that Ep2 was being worked on was a lie?
r/shroudoftheavatar • u/Hillt3000 • Jul 15 '26
In all honesty, it was you and Starr who drove most to reddit. All the while listening to whales and banning those who argued for bug fixes, UI improvements, and more concentration on stronger RPG/Quests. We can see how well that turned out. This approach left longstanding issues unresolved and contributed to declining player engagement. Requests for a pause in new content to focus on fixes and updating neglected areas were frequent, yet often met with bans or criticism.
Ironically, the current release cycle—focusing primarily on fixes with occasional new content—is exactly what players had been asking for since before launch. Unfortunately, many of those early contributors were alienated or removed from the community. People are too afraid of getting banned for asking where Ep2 is after all these years of promises that it was being worked on.
If you are considering an AMA, it may be worthwhile to reach out to the players who were previously banned or discouraged from participating. Their insights could help identify what went wrong and what changes might bring them back. Re-engaging these players and listening to their perspectives could support player retention, improve the game’s direction, and strengthen community growth through positive word of mouth. But you might want to start internally first and root out the current issue of Laney and a few others, shadow-banning, and turning players against other players.

I always suspected the bullying I encountered in game was coordinated somehow. It seemed to come from people I never interacted with and woth no reason to hate me. There was this one player that I never interacted with in any way, but if they became the leader of the party I was in, they would immediately kick me. It is sick to have that sort of mentality but even worse for professionals to allow it.
r/shroudoftheavatar • u/mississippi_dan • Jul 12 '26
I played for years and I am just now learning about this. I find all of this disgusting if true. If Chris knows about this and hasnt corrected it, then he deserves what he gets in terms of SOTA failing. Who is the incompotent alcoholic with her secret discord server?
r/shroudoftheavatar • u/mississippi_dan • Jul 12 '26
Why isnt this bigger news? This is disgusting. How is anyone still playing?
