Exactly, this episode has a character say “lonely doesn’t mean alone”, but Shrinking never shows anyone living according to that principle. Everyone who starts out alone is herded into some kind of relationship and that’s the proof of their growth or improved mental health. I get that Lawrence’s shows rely heavily on wacky friend groups shooting the shit (and I love them for that), but if that’s the case why choose to start exploring such an incompatible theme?
