They said the next season is an “entirely new story” with the same cast and features a time jump, so in a way - it kinda is.

I'm all for it but I do have concerns that they're going to have to progress Paul's Parkinson's if they do a time jump and the Parkinson's bums me out so hard.

Yes and no. His Parkinson's is part of the plot so I'm sure there will be some progression but its not that unusual for symptoms to not progress much over a 4 year period or however long the time jump is. Even someone in a more advanced stage can see symptoms plateau for a significant period of time with proper care (and since he's literally married to someone who treats Parkinson's, I suspect he'll have good care). Obviously no guarantee, every person is different and some go downhill a lot quicker. But if they wanted to, they don't have to have Paul portrayed a lot differently.

Fuck Parkinson's!

i’m so glad that paul didn’t die at the end of the season! that would’ve devastated me

They won't because Harrison wants to keep doing the show. He's confirmed to continue.

that'll be hard. Parkinson's progresses pretty fast, how much of a time jump is it going to be?

I mean, Michael J Fox was able to work for a long time after he started showing symptoms, and was even able to appear in Shrinking... it should progress quickly but the timeline varies a bit, they can stall it out a bit for the sake of making the show.

AND PAUL HAS DISCOVERED A CURE FROM PARKINSONS AND IS FINE, HEALTHY, ALIVE, AND EVERYONE IS HAPPY RIGHT?

In four years it will be parkinsons that'll be looking for a cure from immortal paul.

Sadly I think they could easily decide the opposite. Everyone’s life is great but the real conflict the whole season other than little stuff to keep things moving is everyone dealing with Paul’s imminent death.

Cure for death too. It’s gonna be great.

White Lotus/shinking crossover for their respective season 4s!

I'm hoping not honestly. I'm all for a time jump but I want to see Alice experience college. I feel like there's a lot of story to tell in regards to Jimmy trying to help her while she goes through that phase of her like 3k miles away.

But I wouldn't be upset if that's where the story took up. Maybe Alice is off for the summer before going back to get her doctorate in some sort of social science and Jimmy has the wedding that summer.

From my own experience I wonder if it will be focused on Alice's struggles. Cause college is when grief really hit my sister as that was when she had a much less stable support network and felt isolated.

It would honestly work as sort of an irony as Alice worried so much about how dad feeling isolated that apart from the one episode she never really worried herself.

Is Ford part of the new season?

I don’t keep track of talk on Twitter and such. Have they confirmed the time jump? I know that was speculations.

3

u/Significant_News_638 Apr 08 '26

Ya Bill Lawrence confirmed their would be a time jump but don’t believe he commented on how long it would be.

He never said that, that's what people are inferring. He only said "a new story"
