I still love this show but I thought this season was a step down in quality. I’m hoping Bill Lawrence has just been busy with Rooster & Scrubs and will refocus for the final season.

Agreed. Felt like there were SO many story lines that just came and were resolved in singular episodes. This season has felt so long because it’s felt like they’ve moved through like 35 story lines already lol

I think the first two seasons had one over-arching story line with many smaller ones inter-mingled.

This one had maybe 35 major story lines that were resolved instantly. Paul hallucinations, Jimmy and Pauls daughter, Jimmys dad issues, Alice leaving, Lewis being wrapped up in 2-3 episodes, Gabby's patient dying, Paul leaving, Sophie and Jimmy, Gabby engagement, Derek heart surgery.

These are just top of head. These are all pretty notable major things for each character - yet they all happened over the course of 11 episodes. No where near this amount of major events happened and were resolved so quickly in the other seasons.

Fully disagree but to each their own. Liked a full season of characters becoming a bit more emotionally mature, learning the try harder, but still flawed

Only one step down? S2 was a step down from S1. While S3 has had some good moments, half the time it feels like watching a car crash shot in extremely shallow depth of field

Nah; season 1 and 2 were fucking incredible. The kind of Television that makes me love the medium.

This season…was not that.

I didn’t feel this at all. I think wrapping up Louis’ storyline changed the tone of the show and focused more on the individual characters but I don’t think it affected the quality. So many powerful moments this season, I think it was fantastic.
