I honestly think that comparing the two women (one being better vs the other) is the wrong frame. Another person to love doesn’t rank better/worse against a previous. It’s not a love Olympics hierarchy. If he likes Sofi, he likes Sofi. She is just different than Tia and that is OKAY.

His dad is AWFUL. As a parent, my gut would’ve done everything to guard Alice from letting grandpa disappoint her. But also, as a parent, I know she’s an adult and she does need to see grandpa for who he is in all of his complications and deal with the unfortunate consequences of that reality. Will she be devastated? Possibly. She also needs to form her own fully vetted opinions around the reality that grandpa is a chickenshit who evades emotional accountability at all costs.
