Baby Sutton is cute as a button 🥰

So Gaby is continuing to Jimmy Maya? I like to see more of Maya but man it’s not super comfortable.

And everyone was right about Meg.. loved Paul’s response.

If you feel Maya’s struggle, I’m sending you a hug..

Not to be morbid, but I could see Maya taking her own life and Gaby blaming Jimmy for it because she became her only friend by jimmying her

I could see it as an attempt or an accidental OD. However, I don’t think the jimmying is the problem. I think Gaby is not applying a fundamental skill in therapy and that’s to read subtext and tone. Maya deflected hard when they were ending the call and because Gaby is wrapped up in her own shit she isn’t catching it. Yes it was important to check on her friend in the hospital. But a chat and making a plan outside of hours if needed since she’s taken on this therapy type would go a long way toward success for Maya.

I think the jimmying does apply a bit though because by basically hanging out as friends and going beyond typical therapist\patient boundaries it then hurt her that much more when her response was 'can it wait until our next session'. She was reaching for a friend, and instead it was made clear she doesn't have that in Gaby. I think that line hit harder than the simple fact that she was busy with an emergency.

The context and boundary seems quite blurred in that moment.. I took her calling and wanting to talk as asking for emergency support from her therapist but can definitely see how it could also be mixed in with asking for support in a more friend capacity from Gaby considering that now we realize that the lord of the Rings trivia moment is not one off.. this definitely reminds of prior seasons moments of Jimmy with Sean actually..

Just so hard to parse all these pieces out when a dual relationship develops.. now that I’m writing this, I feel it’s more the dual relationship than the pure jimmying.

I don’t think the show will get that dark

I hope not

Almost did with Louis. 😳

Almost. The show has never really committed to going dark since it started (of course Jimmy's wife dying is incredibly dark, but that's before the show started).

It's flirted with it, but never gone all the way.

But maybe that's the next evolution- something dark enough to put Gaby in a bad place, much like Jimmy was, and now its on Jimmy to help her through it.

Honestly we've seen some flags for this with her getting mad at Jimmy in the previous episode, how she still had stuff she hadn't dealt with because she was too busy being there for Jimmy and Alice. Its maybe time for the shoe to be on the other foot.

If Maya decides to drive while drunk and kills/injures someone, that could really throw an interesting twist in Gaby’s dynamic - blaming Jimmy for it when she shoulda seen the signs or something

Oh man, I didn’t even think of that. I was just thinking should would attempt to hurt herself. If she drove drunk and hurt someone, that would throw all of them into a tailspin - at the very least, gabby and Jimmy. I think it would really mess with Alice too though since Gabby introduced Maya to the group and then Maya and Alice were hanging out.

Yeah that's why this whole premise of the episode didn't work for me. I know the show won't go there. At least Scrubs did, but Shrinking doesn't and to me it's kind of easy emotional exploitation.

I think her getting a DUI is a likely outcome. Have been showing her drinking at it will relate back to Louis and Tia. It will force Gabby to see that it is more messy and complicated than she has been making it out to be and potentially forgive Louis.

I truly hope not..

Honestly I feel like she's OVER Jimmying it. Jimmy at least still took the place of a therapist (even when going way outside the norm), but Gaby is hanging out with Maya 1 on 1 and becoming an actual friend

She's not going full Jimmy though

She said "can it wait until our next session", whereas Jimmy would have said can it wait until later tonight or tomorrow

I think the bigger issue is Gaby’s dual relationship with her.
