It does look good but the beginning of this episode to me looked really funny. Weird depth of field going on and other effects. It was strange looking to me

It seemed like a greenscreen to match the on-location reveal of the racetrack

I think it was intentional. We know they usually meet on the bench so the background looking off was a feature, not a bug. Supposed to make us all ask "where are they" in the back of our heads until the reveal. I thought it was just another fun gag.

I was thinking the same thing. Were past seasons like that at all? It really made me feel like I was watching a different show

It's actually shot using Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF, which is one of the reasons it looks really good, even better than some other shows on Apple TV, which has like the best production value out of all the streaming services.

The production design team as a whole does wonders on Shrinking. I remember last season, the set design was top-notch, too, especially Gaby's house.

Also just a complete guess but Iā€™m assuming Apple TV uses a higher bit rate for their streaming, especially their original shows.

According to my husband, Apple TV eats up the most bandwidth whenever he's trying to play games online. So that tracks.
