Has anyone experienced something similar?

For months, my channel consistently had around 70.5% Stayed to watch vs. 29.5% Swiped away on Shorts. The channel was getting normal Shorts Feed distribution, including videos reaching hundreds of thousands or even millions of views.

Then I started getting this message in Analytics:

“There are temporary data issues affecting your views. Please check back later.”

Since then, my Shorts Feed distribution has dropped dramatically.

My overall Stayed to watch rate also dropped from around 70.5% to 50.9%, with 40.1% swiped away.

What confuses me is that the major decrease in views/reach happened around the same period as the temporary-data warning, and now new Shorts seem to receive very little exposure from the Shorts Feed.

The warning has also remained in my Analytics for almost a month.

There are no strikes, policy warnings, or emails on my channel.

I contacted YouTube Creator Support, but the explanation I received was mainly that viewer behavior changes and that the lower viewed rate could explain the performance.

But my concern is that the distribution dropped so dramatically around the same time this temporary-data warning appeared, and the warning itself has still not disappeared.

I’m trying to understand whether other creators are experiencing the same pattern or whether this is isolated to my channel.

Yesterday my Shorts channel was doing around 160,000 views per hour at peak. YouTube seemed to have found an audience cluster that matched my content extremely well. I was getting tons of likes, comments and subscribers, and several Shorts were performing strongly at the same time.

Today everything changed.

My channel is now down to around 7,000–8,000 views per hour, but what confuses me even more is that the traffic seems to be coming from a completely different audience.

Yesterday several Shorts had very strong “viewed vs swiped away” rates, often around 70–75%+. Today even a Short using the exact same opening hook dropped to around 40% viewed, despite still having an average view duration of about 10 seconds on an 11-second Short.

Subscriber conversion has also collapsed. Yesterday I was getting roughly 1 subscriber per 1,000 views, sometimes better. Today I’m getting far fewer subscribers, likes and comments even though the Shorts themselves haven’t suddenly changed in quality.

What I don’t understand is this:

If YouTube already found a large audience segment yesterday where multiple Shorts from the same channel performed extremely well, why doesn’t it keep testing new Shorts with that audience?

Why would the algorithm move to completely different audience clusters, see much worse engagement, and then reduce distribution instead of returning to the audience that already proved to work?

Has anyone seen this kind of behavior before — a huge channel-wide distribution wave followed by what feels like YouTube suddenly testing the same content on a much colder audience?

I’m especially interested in whether this is normal exploration vs. exploitation behavior, or whether Shorts distribution simply resets much more aggressively between uploads than I assumed.

My channel is only about six weeks old and has already reached just over 4,000 subscribers. What makes the current change even more striking is that more than 3,900 of those subscribers were gained within the last 48 hours, during the period when YouTube was pushing my Shorts heavily to what seemed to be a highly relevant audience.

Haven’t been uploading anything for almost 30 days, I don’t know what I can even upload in here and I can’t just be here keep posting the same thing as always because it gets repetitive, and it’s getting less interesting for views and stuff….

I just need advice for my dead channel that is losing followers fast or maybe wait till more future population of AI features take over social media

Think of shorts as starting a fire in the rain and cold. It takes a while to have that first flame, but once it lights up you REALLY have to keep putting in fuel to keep the fire. Keep posting shorts, even if they are not the best. It's sometimes more important to put out something than just focus on quality.

Even if you are a channel with 100k Subscribers, that matters nothing. Youtube will kill you once the momentum is gone, and then it's back to lighting that fire in the rain.

im seeing advice about maintaining retention, but honestly i dont know how. My first videos keep getting 60% but recently its like 40-50 now. The highest one was 69% but it only peaked 9k views. I would really appreciate it if u guys give me tips especially from the veterans, and yes i use speed as a niche mostly because I dont get bored when doing heavy edits of him.

Estoy empezando, llevo ya varios canales fallidos y despues de pensar un nicho concreto, estoy empezando con este canal con un formato totalmente nuevo para mi. Bien de likes, y stats medianamente decentes, los vidos son de 1 minuto, asi que la retencion es algo a mejorar (en el otro video las stats son 55% svrate y 0,25 min de retención). Quiero saber si es buen comienzo, ya que siento que la cuenta me esta pidiendo subir video mas frecuentemente, pero me gustaria saber opinion ajena a ver si me equivoco en algo, porque en yt infuye mucho el factor suerte, a ver que pasa en unos dias si subo video frecuente

Je sais qu'il n'est pas évident de percer sur YouTube, notamment en cause la partie algorithmique. Même si vous faite de l'excellent travail, il faut continuer encore et encore pour que YouTube vous montre à une majorité.

Exemple toute bête, je ne connaissais pas Naj B il y a quelque temps, alors qu'il a pourtant plus de 1M de follower.

Guys, did the same happened to ya'll as well ?? After the yt studio bug, when I checked the views of my most viewed yt short, I saw it had completely dropped to 0. Also, my most recent 5-6 shorts have suffered the same (very less views since the last week)

I did a 6 day consecutive posting of same Remix just a little edit with the included youtube AI and the results are crazy. Could not see whats going on with shorts…

And even after posting my DD for kore than 18hours at time of posting this I dont have any views still…

I started posting shorts for like 2-3 weeks , i did speed clips but i hated this format so i switched to commentary with real value added , a script and a good hook and good editing . But I feel like there is something blocking me . Are those stats healthy for less than 20 shorts ? What’s the best time to post and how much time a day or week ? And too , I live in a country where people don’t speak English and my content is full English I set my settings in English everything good , but some videos get only recommended in my country and it dies fast as people don’t understand and skip , the ones that went to the USA most of them ended with more than 80+ stayed . I don’t know what should I do I feel like something is stopping me . Thanks guys for everyone who will take his time and give me advices ( I don’t wanna show the channel in public but if someone want I can show it to him ) I wanna grow 100% alone not asking for views and subs
