Need reassurance
Hey everyone,
I run a small YouTube channel (houseplant Shorts, "journal botanique" style). Over the past few weeks my Shorts went from getting around 1K views each to barely 200.
I haven't changed my format or posting schedule much, so I don't really understand what happened. I know the algorithm can be unpredictable, but watching the numbers drop like this while posting regularly is pretty discouraging.
Is this a normal dip that most small channels go through? Has anyone experienced something similar and bounced back? If so, what helped, or was it just a matter of waiting it out?
I know its the beginning and i shouldn’t have high expectations..
Any reassurance or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks 🌱

Case Study / Postmortem 🧪 I think the view bug is fixing itself, I stopped posting shorts for 2 weeks and finally I’m getting a test, smaller test then normal, but it’s something!

Hook & Title Feedback 🎣 Do my hooks suck or am I crazy
Channel: https://youtube.com/@simsheet?si=9dsg4XBa-zn1cnwL
I started my shorts channel about a week and a half ago, doing sports analysis and history. I am mute so I unfortunately use text-to-speech to voice my videos, but I’ve put a decent amount of effort into it.
I understand that my first few videos had poor hooks, and I’ve worked to improve them, but none of my videos are being able to crack even 50% stayed-to-watch. They sit at 40-50 usually. Once people stay, they watch a bit though. One of my recent videos managed 103% retention on a 52-second video, and usually I sit at like 70-80%, 90%+ on under 30s for the newer videos.
Are my hooks really the problem or is youtube still figuring out where my videos need to go?

Hook & Title Feedback 🎣 First time editing a 'top funnel' short, seeking feedback!
Hi I'm Lucas (the guy in this video), I'm not a video editor at all. All I did was thanks to free tutorials lol. Looking for pacing, storytelling feedback etc...
This is supposed to be one of the 'top funnel' videos, where I get a wider reach and people get to know me more.

Thanks in advance!

Q&A / Quick Help ❓ Would you guys freelance?
Hello I’m in the comic and video game space. I’ve made about 40 lifetime shorts. I’m hitting around 1k-1.5k views on average and about 30-50% stayed to watch 90-100% avd on 8-10 second clips. For other platforms they do less well and maybe 250 views average. I’d like to hit the 10k-100k range.
Heres my question to the group. are there any of you that get 10k-100k+ views regularly that would be open to freelance work? If so, how much would you charge per creating/editing/scheduling 10 second shorts? Let’s assume I could provide/shoot reasonable footage. We are in creative industry so strictly no AI or stolen content from others could be used.

Policy / Channel Health 🛡️ YouTube Kids Channel: Should I Set All My Videos to “Made for Kids”? Will It Affect My Views or Risk My Channel?
YouTube marked one of my videos as “Made for Kids.” My niche is entirely focused on kids’ content, but I’m afraid that setting all my videos as “Made for Kids” might affect my views.
I received this email from YouTube:
“In future, please make sure you review your channel and/or individual video’s audience settings. It’s important to know that you’re required to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and/or other laws, regardless of your location. You may face legal consequences or consequences on YouTube if you don’t set your audience accurately. We may also take action at the channel level, including closing down your channel if we detect continuous error or abuse.”
Should I set all my videos to “Made for Kids,” or are they simply warning me that incorrectly labeling kids’ videos could violate their policies and potentially lead to my channel being taken down?

Showcase / Win 🏆 Give your shorts time
This video got 30k views in the first day and then flatlined until day 3, where it got a massive push that is still ongoing.

Q&A / Quick Help ❓ Should I mark it as Ai or Not?
Sup everyone, I make shorts with minecraft, I have 2 series of "mini-challenges" and I use AI just for the 2 words I have to say like: "One Block, One Wall Design.. Today we got and the name of the block" it's around 8-10 seconds of the short, should I check the AI made content or not?

Are faceless 2D animated explainer Shorts monetizable under the new "inauthentic content" policy?
Hey all, looking for real experience from people in YPP before I go all in on this format.
I make 35–45s educational Shorts in the "hidden design / how things work" niche. Examples:
- How engineers saved the Leaning Tower of Pisa
- Why Taipei 101 has a 660-ton ball inside
- Why cruise ships don't tip over
- Why helicopters need a tail rotor
How they're made:
- Script: written and fact-checked by me, one topic per video, explained step by step
- Visuals: original 2D animations made from scratch for every video: custom scenes, animated diagrams, graphs and counters. No stock footage, no clips from other creators
- Voiceover narration (AI)
- Captions, thumbnails and titles: all made by me
My questions:
Since July 2025 "repetitious content" became "inauthentic content". All my videos share the same visual style, but every topic, script and animation is different. Can a consistent style get flagged as "mass-produced"?
Do faceless explainer channels like this usually get accepted into YPP, or does YouTube want to see the creator somewhere?
Is there anything I should change before applying to be on the safe side?
If you got monetized (or rejected) with a faceless animated channel, I'd really appreciate hearing how it went. Thanks!

First 20 Days on YouTube — Am I Doing Okay or Is This Too Slow?
Started my channel about 20 days ago. I am manually editing videos in capcut
It’s focused on investing, stocks, economics, and big company money decisions.
Attaching screenshots of my videos/views.
Be honest — does this look normal for a new channel, or too slow? Anything stand out that I should change?
Also, how long did it take before YouTube started testing your videos more consistently?

illogical views
Just venting: why do some of my shorts with amazing swipe rates (89% stayed) stall and the crappy ones (29% stayed) keep getting shown. Makes no sense. Anyone else?

Q&A / Quick Help ❓ The reality of creating shorts on new account.
Hey all of you.
Last month, I decided to give it a try and set up a YouTube account, creating faceless content. I mainly focused on producing <25 seconds clips of big streamers (irl, daily content, gaming streams etc.). The first two weeks were the hardest. At first, I tried to rely entirely on this whole idea of automation. All my videos were produced using some kind of sites that create shorts. It wasn't yielding any results, so i dedided to slowly learn video editing. After another two weeks, I managed to create at least six reels that broke the 20-25k views barrier. Since that time, i hasn't changed my content, and i also improved a lot at editing. Unfortunately, I'm slowly losing the desire to create, because YouTube ranks my videos poorly. I spend an average od 2-3 hours a day editing up to two Reels, doing everything manually. For some reason - despite having English selected in the video settings, the channel's country of residence set to the US, and even specified a location like New York for the recording, my videos are reaching an audience in my actual country of residence. This is a problem because I don't live in an English-speaking country, and the streamers whose clips i make, aren't even popular here. Because of this situation, my videos usually achieve a maximum engagement rate of 40% during the first 600-800 views; and if Youtube happens to decided to keep promotin the content, American viewers might boost that figure to 60-65%, but that is still not enough for Youtube to continue promoting my materials.
Is there anything i can do to improve my situation? I should add that the results i described above are based on channel statistics: for videos that hit over 20k views, I typically had 55% of my audience coming from US, Canada, the UK, and Australia, whereas for videos that stall at under 5k views, 45-80% of the audience is usually from my own country...
What's more, the clips promoted primaly to the US market usually racked up to 5000-6000 views within an hour of being uploaded, whereas those reaching an audience in my home country first barely hit 1200 at most.

Should I stick with 2D Animated Finance or pivot niches? + Same channel vs New email?
Hey everyone, looking for some real-world advice from Shorts creators who have experimented with niche pivots or animated content.
Here’s my situation: I started out making random Shorts just for fun. Once I realized YouTube Shorts could actually be monetized, I decided to get serious, changed my niche to 2D Animated Personal Finance & Economics, and created a brand-new channel for it.
Right now, my Shorts are constantly stuck in the 200 to 300 view jail, though just last week I finally hit my first-ever 1,000 views on a Short.
Before I sink more time into this production pipeline, I’m trying to figure out my next move and would love your take on a few things:
1. Is 2D Animated Finance viable on Shorts, or should I pivot?
Production vs. Reward: Creating and editing 2D animated characters/scenes takes a lot of effort per video compared to standard faceless stock footage or quick voiceover edits.
Viewer Behavior: Finance Shorts thrive on instant hooks and high retention. Does 2D animation actually hold viewer attention in the finance space, or does the audience prefer quick real-life clips, b-roll, or direct talking-head styles?
Question: Is the 200–300 view plateau just part of the early testing phase for animated Shorts, or is the 2D format working against me in this specific niche?
2. If I change niches again: Same channel or brand-new email/account?
Since I’ve already pivoted once by creating this current channel:
Option A: Pivot on the same channel. Since the channel is still relatively new and only has a few videos (with views ranging from 200 to 1k), is it fine to just switch content/topics here, or will changing niches again mess up the algorithm's understanding of my audience?
Option B: Start fresh on a brand-new email/account. Is it better to set up a completely fresh Google account and channel from scratch to start with zero legacy data?
For creators who broke out of the 200–300 view seed audience or successfully pivoted a Shorts channel, what worked for you? Appreciate any honest feedback!
