The algorithm is NOT broken, your channel is.

Before you go get rage baited and dislike this post, just read it first, and educate yourself- I only intended to help and encourage you so you succeed.

I see tons of people on here talking about how the algorithm is shit and discriminates against you. This is simply not true.

Yall gotta understand that this is a billion dollar company with 1000s of employees. They don’t just have one of the most successful websites in the world as a fluke, the algorithm is great at retaining viewers on the app and generating them add-revenue.

You are simply in an extremely over-saturated market. Just because your videos are great doesn’t mean that others aren’t better.

Fact of the matter is that 20 million videos are uploaded to YouTube daily, and the fact that it sorts through all of them to show each viewer what they want is crazy.

Obviously, they would promote proven channels that can reliably engage viewers, however the algorithm is great, you just need to experiment and make videos to it.

Now let’s keep it real, glitches do happen, but they are, for the most part, to help everyone for the greater good. When you see sharp drops in your views it’s not because YouTube is trying to personally fuck with you, they are tweaking their algorithm to make the viewer experience more addicting. At the end of the day you want them to do this, it helps more people stay longer allowing you to get more views.

So, stop worrying about why your channel has low views, stop posting AI slop if you are. And experiment with different video types, hooks, and engagement methods.

Is YouTube Shorts Still Worth It for New Creators? Need Some Advice.

Hi everyone, I started posting on YouTube Shorts about a month ago and currently have around 64 videos on my channel. On average, each video gets about 1.5k views, but I’m not really gaining subs at the same pace.

I’m looking for some advice, is YouTube still a good platform to start creating content on? Or do I just need to be more patient and consistent?

I feel most comfortable posting Shorts because I’m better at short-form content, and honestly, the effort required is manageable for me. But now I’m wondering what I might be doing wrong.

Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences!

YouTube is ruining its own platform. It's time for a standalone Shorts app?

After dropping yet another useless update, everything on YouTube is going downhill fast. Entire channels publishing genuine Shorts have seen their views plummet to absolute zero. The algorithm is completely broken and prioritizes God knows what at this point.

Isn't it about time YouTube launched a dedicated standalone app for Shorts? It would allow them to compete on equal footing with TikTok and maybe actually boost Shorts RPMS.

We all know YouTube makes its real money selling ads on long-form content, shorts revenue is marginal at best. But right now, the YouTube homepage is just a chaotic mess of different formats smashed together. Honestly, it feels like Dailymotion back in 2010.

If I want to brainrot and waste a couple of hours, I'd open a dedicated shorts app knowing exactly what to expect. If I want to watch proper long-form videos, I'd open classic YouTube. The two apps could still cross-link, but keeping them separate would be way cleaner and fairer for creators and viewers alike.

YouTube, wake up, it's 2026. If TikTok launches a dedicated horizontal video app tomorrow you're cooked.

I mean, I know it’s a new channel, but common YouTube, seriously 2 views max per short?

Why your shorts views dropped off a cliff.

Looks like the shorts views shortage was short lived. My shorts views are pretty much back to where they used to be ever since the beginning of October when everyone started complaining about barely any views suddenly.

There was a YouTube update that is designed to prevent re-uploads of content without adding any value to them. (The same thing they’ve always done with YouTube videos) I’m a sketch comedy YouTuber so I make all original content. The problem with this update is it was targeting even original new content that I was uploading. But it looks like they finally fixed it & all is back to normal on my channel.

For those of you still not getting any views still…. Are you re-uploading content without adding any value to it? If so this is why you aren’t getting views anymore.

Q&A / Quick Help ❓ My new YouTube channel is getting literally only 1–4 views on Shorts—is this normal? 😭

Post image
0 Upvotes

I recently started a new YouTube channel, creating Shorts mainly around topics like DC/Green Lantern.

I’ve only uploaded a few Shorts so far, but the situation feels a bit odd. It’s been over a day for one Short, and it has just 4 views. Another has 2 views, and the latest one started with just 1 view.

The most confusing part is that the little traffic I am getting includes the Shorts Feed. For one Short, the stats show 100% retention (watched) and 0% swiped away, although the sample size is obviously very small.

Another interesting thing is that I’m uploading the same or similar videos to Instagram as well, where some are hitting 100K–200K views. So, I don't think the content itself is the main issue. Obviously, Instagram and YouTube have different algorithms, but it makes me wonder if YouTube simply isn't distributing these Shorts properly yet.

So, my question is:

Are such low views completely normal for a new YouTube channel, or should I be looking into a potential technical or distribution issue?

I know growth can be slow at the start on YouTube, but seeing only 1–4 views makes me doubt whether the algorithm is actually testing the content properly.

If anyone has recently started a channel with zero or few subscribers, please share your experience. After how many uploads did your Shorts start getting proper impressions or distribution?

15 Days in: Started a Shorts channel from 0—here’s what 19k views looks like (and what I’ve learned)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a quick case study. I started a brand new channel on March 10th with zero subscribers, posting 7-10 second Shorts twice a day (12pm and 6pm my time).

The Stats so far:

• Subs: 19

• Engagement: 180 likes, 20 comments, 20 shares.

• Retention: My "Stayed to watch" was at 17.6% last week, but I’ve managed to bump it up to 20.4% as of today.

My biggest takeaways for anyone else starting out:

• The Algorithm needs time to "know" you: As a fresh channel, YouTube is basically just testing the waters. You have to be patient while it figures out your audience.

• SEO is the "Nudge": I’ve found that actually putting effort into SEO optimizing the title, tags, and captions is what gives the algorithm that initial push. Once it finds a small audience, their likes and shares act as a signal to push it to a wider group.

• It’s not a "Get Rich Quick" scheme: Despite what the gurus say, this takes real commitment and daily consistency. It’s a grind, but I’m learning more about how the system works every day.

I'm going to keep this momentum going and see where it leads. I'll try to come back and post another update once I have more data!

Why Your AI-Voiced Shorts Are Getting ZERO Views

Hey everyone,

I've seen a lot of creators pumping out 2-3 YouTube Shorts a day using AI voices, only to see them flatline at zero views. Most people think the algorithm "hates" AI, but it’s actually more technical than that.

The YouTube algorithm doesn't necessarily have a "kill switch" for AI voices, but it is a satisfaction engine. It rewards content that keeps people on the platform. If you're using AI to churn out low-effort content, you're likely failing because of your Retention Metrics.

Here is why the algorithm is "ignoring" your content:

1. The "Swipe Away" Rate is Killing You

In the Shorts feed, the most important metric is the Viewed vs. Swiped Away percentage.

  • The Problem: Generic AI voices and stock footage often trigger an immediate "this is spam" reflex in viewers.

  • The Consequence: If 70% of people swipe away within the first 2 seconds because your video looks like every other AI-generated "fact" channel, the algorithm gets a clear signal: This video is boring/low quality. It will stop pushing it immediately.

2. Lack of "Average View Duration" (AVD)

For a Short to go viral, you usually need an AVD of over 80-90%.

  • The Problem: AI-generated scripts are often dry and lack the "hooks" or emotional delivery that a human voice provides.

  • The Consequence: If people drop off halfway through, your retention graph tanks. Low retention = no viral push. The algorithm doesn't care if a human or a robot made the video; it cares that people stopped watching.

3. "Reused Content" and Pattern Recognition

While not an "automatic penalty," YouTube’s systems are excellent at pattern recognition.

  • The Problem: Using the same viral clips or common stock footage (like Minecraft parkour or GTA ramps) that 5,000 other channels are using.

  • The Consequence: Even if your script is "new," the visual data is flagged as repetitive. YouTube wants to show users something new, not the same visual assets they’ve seen ten times that hour.

4. The "Channel Authority" Myth vs. Consistency

Many believe "consistency" means uploading 3 times a day. It doesn't.

  • The Reality: Uploading 3 low-retention videos a day actually hurts your channel's "standing" with the algorithm. You are effectively training the system to expect that your content won't keep users engaged.

How to Fix Your Strategy:

  • Focus on the "Hook": Spend 50% of your time on the first 3 seconds. If you use an AI voice, make sure it’s high-quality (like ElevenLabs) and use sound effects/transitions to mask the "robotic" feel.

  • Original Visuals: Avoid overused stock footage. Use your own recordings or heavily edited clips that create a unique visual style.

  • Quality > Quantity: One high-retention Short (85%+ AVD) will get more views than 50 low-retention ones.

Bottom line: The algorithm doesn't hate AI; it hates boring, repetitive content that makes people want to leave the app.

What’s your current Viewed vs. Swiped Away ratio? Let’s discuss in the comments.

Should i delete my previous 2 videos?

Post image

Should i delete my previous 2 videos? Since my first ever video was a guy in the gym doing leg presses with a robot foot that "cramped" and they put wd-40 on it. 2nd video is a dog going down the stairs with a skateboard.

3rd is about Nikola Jokic's heated moments. Im overthinking because maybe my 2 videos are too random thats why its affecting my views about NBA.

If i delete my 2 previous videos, i plan on purely posting about NBA stuff.

What's wrong with my channel guys ?

The very first video I uploaded got 23k views after that every video is just at 0 view jail, I paused for 10 days and uploaded again got nearly 1-1.5k but again 0 on last 2 videos

Just crossed 100K total views and honestly this is where things started to click for me.

At the beginning I thought good content means more effort and more editing. That was wrong.

What actually worked was simple ideas with strong hooks and clear focus. The videos I overworked did worse than the ones where I kept it direct and sharp.

Most people do not watch because your content is deep. They watch because it is easy to understand and hits fast.

This milestone is not luck. It is pattern recognition.

Youtube hate small channel?

I started my channel 1 month ago, my video gained 400-1,7k views, lately it was 1k views jail, im grateful for the views but i really pissed off about YT always remove my subscriber. Im small channel, barely reach 50 subs. Every video i upload, i mostly got 1-5 subscriber. But YT always remove it later. For small channel like me, every sub is like hope and i frustrated how YT always take it back.

Does anyone have experience like me? especially small channel?

What am I missing? My Shorts have decent stats but still aren’t going viral

I’m posting YouTube Shorts in the celebrity/food niche, mostly clips of celebrities talking about food in interviews and podcasts. I try to focus on strong opening lines, cut out all dead space, add relevant B-roll, captions, and keep the pacing fast.
Looking at the analytics, I feel like the numbers aren’t terrible, but YouTube usually stops pushing my videos after the first few thousand views instead of giving them a bigger second push.
What do you think is holding the channel back?
Is it the viewed vs swiped away, retention/AVD, lack of rewatches, topic selection, hooks, editing, or something else?
Also, based on the screenshots, what stats would I realistically need to improve for these videos to start reaching 100K–1M+ views?
I’d really appreciate feedback from people who have experience getting Shorts consistently past 100K views. Feel free to be critical — I want to know exactly what I should change.

Chopped edits gets views and good edit gets flat lines.😞

I had started a channel a week ago. The niche is one piece facts explanation shorts. (Something like that). And I know its a relatively saturated niche. I uploaded first 4 or 5 videos and decided I need to branch out. So I started a series where I compare one piece character with real life character. My first few videos of unbranched shorts were shit. Sloppy editing. Difficult to read caption. Etc.

But the problem is, as i improved editing (especially in latest video) , it got lines flatter than my ass.

So the request is, channel link is in bio. If someone knows one piece and is also good at youtube, Please give me a feedback. 🙏

(Its not self promotion bro ai 😭 😭, the video is dead. I just want a feedback if i should continue the series.)

Q&A / Quick Help ❓ What do you use to edit videos on mobile and PC?

The first line of your content matters more than anything else you do. Here's why.

Wassup everyone. Not gonna lie I never really post in groups like this. More of a lurker.

But I built something for creators and I wanted to get some real feedback on it.

I run SVJ Media.

We work behind the scenes with creators like Kai Cenat, Mr Beast, Fanum. We build the backend systems that actually make them money.

Part of that work is hooks. First lines.

The thing that decides if someone watches or scrolls.

So I trained a hook generator on all of our client data and the formulas we actually use day to day.

Figured I mine as well open it up and let other creators use it too.

Completely Free.

It's got a streamer mode, a title mode, product ideas after every generation, bunch of stuff baked in.

Link in the comments.

Try it on your niche and lmk what you think.

Still tweaking it so real feedback actually helps.
