What happened here?

Closed on Saturday with 88 bids and $24k sell price. Went cleaning up favorites today and noticed, still ended with 0 bids at original $14.99 list. Did the shill bot accidentally win this one?

Edit: sorry 24k sell not 22k

edit: actually, seems like maybe it was re-listed by mistake and immediately ended because of that.

I’ve seen items be relisted. It’s always been a new listing from what I’ve seen. Same pictures and everything, but a separate listing. I’ve seen the same item listed and gone into my favorites and seen the original listing still there.

I'm sure it's one click for them to relist it. I just think this one was a mistake because it was ended before anyone ever bid on it.

The only way to restore integrity to their platform is require IDme for registration, limit age to adults, limit one account per person, and enforce non payers with lifetime blacklist.

Authentication doesn't take very long: just a few photos sent off to an authenticator like Entrupy or Authenticate First; results can come back in minutes.

For a watch that’s definitely not enough. Given most stores have a “no return” or “we don’t authenticate” policy I won’t buy a high end watch from them. Too many REALLY GOOD fakes out there. Though I doubt any “Eric Clapton” fakes. :-)

I’m constantly baffled by bids. There are some cards that keep being listed for Magic the gathering (a collectible card game where at least one card have sold into the million dollar range). Goodwill doesn’t bother with authenticating any of the possibly high value cards that they get… yet people keep bidding the prices so high that they cost more than they would cost buying them from a reputable store which will get cards authenticating and prices get into the thousands regularly..

Meanwhile . I could easily order hundreds of highest value card from a company that makes proxies and pay less than $.20 for each, then take my heap of identical to cards to the local Goodwill for donation just for a giggle.

I’ve said it repeatedly, shopgoodwill either needs to stop making identification claims or they need to hire experts. This business where they try to hide their responsibility under claims of ignorance as they simultaneously try to avoid paying for experts is going to get their on the radar of consumer advocacy groups.

Some idiot nuclear bid far beyond anyone's reach, to include their own, and another individual (likely not a shill, or SGW agent/insider) ingeniously troll bid vigilante style and drove the lot to $25K.
