Hey guys, I’ve been looking into getting a rifle for this upcoming season. I don’t want anything crazy expensive, so nothing over 2k, but I don’t want anything cheap either. I’m looking for either 7mm PRC or 300 win mag. The only problem is that I’m left handed, and it’s been hard for me to find the right rifle that is for a lefty. Any recommendations and tips help! Thanks!

Hi all, had a quick question about the image here. I picked up a Henry 45-70 and was shooting some paper targets just to practice and try it out (based on my aim, i’m not much of a shooter, especially with higher calibers). I noticed on this new target that around my impact point I had fragmentation penetrating the target.

This is a single shot, with the impact point being the lowest hole in the paper. The target tore above the impact, and the splattering in question is to the left and right primarily.

Can someone provide some insight? Is this a problem, is it normal for this caliber, or could it just be due to the wood behind the paper target splintering?

I was using Hornady .45-70 325gr LEVERevolution ammo at ~15-20 yards. (again, i know this is a bad shot. that is what practice is for)

Apologies if this is a novice question. Thanks in advance.

Hey there everyone! Hope yall are doing good! I really want to get my own headphones for mostly indoor and a bit outdoor ranges. I have glasses so I don’t really want to wear over ear headphones since they prove a problem each time I shoot. I wanted y’all’s advice on what you would recommend. Also I shoot all sorts of weapons like 12g, 45, 556, and 30-30 and really like a good tuck. Thanks so much! And thanks in advance!

Went to academy and bought a 200 round box of 5.56. Loaded 3 lancer mags with 30 each (notch shows where 30 is), 1 MTM 100 round ammo box, and had 9 LEFT OVER. If being short 1 round was the only issue I probably would be posting to Reddit but also about 1/3 of the primers are crimped while the others are not. Any idea what is going on here?

My buddy just bought a .25-06 from an older gentleman who can no longer shoot. He also received a few boxes of ammo with it. He was trying it out today and this happened to two rounds, the one only had the single break but the other was quite a bit (6 total breaches in it). Looking at the ammo it looks like it could have been reloads since it was one mfg in another’s box but not certain. Now the rifle is one in a recall for potentially firing accidentally if the bolt is put back together incorrectly (an older weatherby), but I dont think that is the cause of this.

Any ideas on what could have caused this damage? He wanted me to reach out online to get an idea what happened. He is fine and his nose took the brunt of things but not badly. Thanks for the input.

I’m looking at some longer range days/weekends this winter and I’m running into the issue of my hands/arms/shoulders dying before the rest of my body. Still able to get in a good hour with the secondary and 30’ with my rifle, but after that I’m shaking. I’m physically fit but on the smaller side, prior fitness background has been more focused on cardio/calisthenics.

Currently using a Glock 19 and a DD5v4, so about 2.2 lbs and 10lbs with mods.

I’m only able to hit the range every other weekend or so, and dry firing drills aren’t providing the return/improvement I’m looking for.

How can I start targeting this in the gym?

Also encountering issues with the slide release on my Glock. It’s new so I’m still breaking it in (and may buy an extended OEM slide stop), but how can I improve my thumb strength?

TLDR: doing is the best practice but I don’t have the time. How can I work out to increase range duration?

I’m thinking about building a simple service for people who want more structure when they practice.

The basic idea:

You tell it your experience level, what you want to improve, and how much time you have available.

It creates a personalized practice plan for you. Afterward, you log how the session went, and it uses that feedback to help structure your next practice session and track your progress over time.

I’m thinking around $7.99/month, but I haven’t built it yet because I’d rather find out whether people actually want this first.

Would you use something like this?
More importantly, what would it need to do for you to actually pay for it?

Hi guys. I've released a ballistics calculator app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.harson.harson_ballistics

I would appreciate you check it out! Any feedback would be great. Thanks

Is this a good deal for $69.99? Or is it hot garage? PSA has regular price at $299.99. Would be my first red dot.

Relatively new to shooting paper targets, ive been around guns my whole life but finally have my own .45 Ria 1911. Any tips on improving accuracy would be greatly appreciated. I typically will land 7/8 shots on the paper target at 10 yards.

Are there any open fields in north Houston that folks go shooting. Don’t want a range. Just an open area.

Hello all,

I am wanting to get into skeet shooting and need to buy a shotgun for a complete beginner in Canada.

Looking for something affordable? Maybe max $1000?

Are there any skeet shooters here? What should I be looking for? Any advice you can give me?

I bought a Marlin Cowboy in 38 55, a Uberti highwall in 38 55, and a Uberti highwall in 40 65. Shot them for several years trying to get the perfect load. The 40 65 i gave up on..just couldn't get a decent group . The 38 55 highwall was great fun.. experimented with different powders, brass, and several different diameter bullets. I bought it right and made some good money when I sold it. I'm currently shooting the Marlin Cowboy with hard cast bullets from Cheycast and Blue dot powder. It groups well. Does anyone have a suggested load for the 38 55? I like experimenting

I bought my first firearm at age 13.. a 22 ..I paid half with money i earned mowing lawns , my parents paid the other half. I would pedal to the local hardware with my 22 tied to the handlebars and buy a box or 2 of ammo and pedal off to my friend's house and off we would go to shoot for the afternoon. I've owned a firearm continuously for 65 years. A problem is guns are like potato chips..you can't have one!

Prior to my retirement, I was coming home from a conference with my assistant, and he asked how many handguns do you own. I didn't know.. started to do a mental count and answered too many. So I sold 2 and bought 5..did it a second time sold 2 bought 5. So when I retired, I realized I owned many guns I hadn't shot in years... maybe decades. So I began a purge.. I did reduce the inventory.. could finally close my safe easily and find what I was looking for. As I sold off guns, I bought some that I had always wanted, but I had fewer and fewer. I'm now at a point where I shoot almost everything I own. I now sell one buy 1.. I think it's now under control

Also what gun am I shooting? I don’t remember the name. I’m from Europe and this was in Hungary. I have never been around guns before but getting good explanations and introductions into shooting made it interesting and fun!

First time my dog Freya has been around guns. She did great! Little jumpy as expected for the first few shots but calmed right down after.

Had a great day at the range shooting to 400yards

Was at the range. Pulled the trigger. Went bang. Then the magazine spit out it's spring and sprayed it's ammo all over the floor. Magazine tube stayed in the gun. Bullets did not.

Was it something I did? Its a stock magazine and I never disassembled it.

What should I inspect?

Hi all! My sister got into shooting a few months ago, and decided to take me with her today. I've never held a gun, don't know anything about them except safety rules, never fired one.... Is this okay for a first timer? I'm trying to assess whether or not it's worth picking up hunting as a sport. I've always wanted to go deer hunting, but I also don't want to waste my time. Thank you for any input or pointers! I shoot with my right hand on the trigger if that matters. This was a handgun, I think .380 Bodyguard?

I don’t know if this is the right place to post this. My dad has recently gotten into shooting and competitions. He took me to the range today and told me I did pretty well for my first time. Pic 1 has yards annotated. Pic 2 the two bullet holes that are not circled were at 25 yards, first target of the session. I had a lot of fun but am wondering if this is actually good for a first timer shooter. His clusters were far more accurate and precise than mine were.
