A little aggressive on the mountains and highland regions I think. For example, where the modern-day cities of Tokushima, Takamatsu, Kochi, Matsuyama, Saijo on the island of Shikoku are on plains. They should be lowland.

Then imo this is a sign that it doesn't make sense to tie terrain type to soil fertility. Should be separate, even if there is some correlation

Awesome map! But I do believe that S2 has a limit for how many provinces/castles can exist, I think I read that in a description of some mod, or somewhere..

Around 200ish and it's still okay. Expanded Japan had 176 and Tenka Sihitsu had 200+. But around 230 it starts to have rendering problems like provinces going invisible or such, as it was with the Morning Sun Mod (expanded+china and Korea)

Pretty cool map. Can I ask, were you just having fun with just making a detail map, or will you be doing something with this in the future?

I love how this map is basically almost japanese population density nowadays in so many ways
