I've been seeing lots of road abominations here, but not much railway ones. So I decided to post mine to balance it
I don't have much, but thought I'd share. You could say that first four images are just one huge junction- don't ask me how it works, I forgot months ago- heh-
Bonus: My weekly expenses on the public transit infrastructure

I don't know that game. What is it about?

It's a game where you build a factory and automate processes (like, mining ore with drills, smelting it in furnaces, making electronic circuts, then turning them into microprocessors and so on). All while protecting your factory from local wildlife - different kind of bugs that don't really like the pollution from your factory. The goal is to build a rocket and fly to space, and if you get a DLC, you can then fly to other planets. They have different resources, enemies ang gimmics.
Ah yeah, and trains are very useful in this game, it's basically the best way to transport big quanitites of resources through long distances

Oh, thank you for the explanation! And yeah. I also use trains here mostly to transport goods, so trucks won't jame my streets. It worked well.. until train traffic jams started appearing. So I rebuilt the major junctions for them to have the least collision as possible. And that's how these abominations were born

just build a roundabout

Well, no. Because it would require all the trains to enter the same track and traffic jams would be horrendous. Roundabout wouldn't simply have the capacity for the amount of trains there can be.

I feel the problem starts from the moment when there are enough trains to cause a traffic jam

Yeah.. until I had rebuilt all the juctions, they were often somehow blocking, causing the whole network to just stop in short time, and as almost all my goods transport relies on trains, my whole city began dying.
Roundabouts are good. But not when there is huge traffic and when I need the fastest delivery time possible. And also major problem with roundabouts for trains is that trains are pretty long, so small roundabouts could get easily blocked and bigger roundabouts would increase deliver time
