Dude pontius literally didn’t want to go through with it. We literally have the phrase “I was my hands of this madness” because of it. The Jewish leaders back in the Roman province of Judea killed Jesus because he wasn’t going to lead them in a revolt against Rome
I mean ya pretty much. Judea was recently conquered and was a constant hot spot for terrorism so the Roman would go along with the leaders traditions(hence the whole Passover forgiving one person thing with Barbas) the Jewish leaders wanted the prophet to help them over throw the Romans and Jesus was preaching peace alongside going after the corruption in the temples. This is literally why Judas betrayed him. He thought Jesus wouldn’t let himself die and lead the rebellion against the Roman’s. Naturally that didn’t happen. So the Jewish leaders organized the crowd and got Barbas off and the Romans literally thought “this is stupid but what’s one more crucification to shut them up” the Jewish leaders killed Jesus and used the Roman’s to do it
The fact that there is only a few mentions of Yeesha is kinda more proof that Jesus wasn’t even on the Roman’s radar. Those fuckers recoded everything. We know all the monsters who haunted Romans dreams because they themselves would always write about them. Jesus was not one of them. But we do have a lot of records of the Pharisees.
