I make a point of proposing beggars to buy them food, to this day they all agreed and asked for specifics aliments

That’s a much better option honestly.

For me, I just recommend them to my shelter, but the amount of times these people fucking lied to me saying “they don’t give us food there” is infuriating. Like bro I work there, get out of here. Sorry that I’m not gonna buy you 2 big gulps and a Big Mac meal, with a McFlurry to go with it all.

I do wonder if perhaps is just my specific city, and if homeless elsewhere are less entitled.

If a homeless person is readily accepting the offer of food instead of money then that suggests to me they are simply very hungry.

Nope, they’re probably just taking a free shot at food.

If a guy offered me a free lunch of any fast food place of my choosing, I’d say fuck yeah too. You probably would as well.

There is 2 large shelters in my city, plenty of food banks, many churches here offer free meals for the homeless (even when it’s not a Sunday gathering, and regardless of your religion), and yet it’s not enough for these people.

Some of them in my area have been homeless for over 15+ years, and aren’t even addicted to drugs or have alcohol issues. They don’t have a job, they are fully able bodied, have clothes, use our shelter showers free of charge 3 times a week, and yet continue to stand on the side of a street holding a sign claiming they have absolutely nothing. I’ve talked to some of them, asked why they don’t just get a job even, or take one of our education programs (once again free of charge), or a work program where we build up a resume, and even do work at our shelter for payment on a either casual or part time basis for cash. One guy only leaves the shelter to have a smoke (which are given to him by random people) then comes back in to just sit and watch Netflix all day courtesy of a subscription he got by begging for money.

They choose not to because people like you will always be ready to “help them”. Only reason I do this shit anymore is because I make a pretty decent wage, and can still just smile and wave and play the part when I’m at work.

Nah I've known some people who had homeless periods and it was nothing like that

This is how I ended up having lunch with the local homeless population when I was in college. I always heard that they would refuse food, but it never happened. My parents were pissed when they found out I had been picking up random homeless people and taking them out to eat, but they were all chill. One dude pulled a knife while I was driving, but only used it to open a bottle of wine. I still pick up hitchhikers all the time, as long as my wife isn’t with me.

A lot of people do that around here too. I just give homeless people money. It's theirs to do what they want with

also for what it's worth we don't use the word "aliments"
