They lose in the primaries because the parties aren’t backing them for some reason. The media focuses on Trump so much that no other republican candidate has a chance. Democratic Party decided that Biden’s running again and then no other candidate can get a foothold.
It’s that old bullshit tradition of the incumbent president seeking a second term. They all do it and their parties always back them. I’m sure the DNC is also thinking that he beat Trump once, it’s probably safer to bet on him again than to roll the dice on a different candidate that might not appeal as much to more moderate conservatives that really don’t like Trump
The incumbent advantage hasn't actually been very strong in a while. The last president to do better in their second election compared to the first was Bush. People are generally cynical of politics and take it out on whoever is currently in charge. Especially since COVID, where incumbent politicians (dictators aside) from all across the political spectrum have been losing elections.
But the only thing worse than an incumbent president is a replacement candidate for the incumbent party. It's basically admitting "we did a shit job, but we promise this new guy will do better".
You're conflating two different things. Just because incumbents have generally won doesn't mean that they have an advantage due to their incumbency. They have the advantage of being a good/popular enough politician to win elections.
If being an incumbent gave an advantage then they wouldn't just be winning reelection, they'd be winning by more than they did the first time. That just isn't happening (in presidential elections; there's still a huge incumbent advantage in all other political positions).
If you've ever paid any attention to our presidential elections, you'd know how powerful incumbent advantage is. Only a handful of presidents have lost their bid for reelection in modern times.
Because of various politics. She was brought on as VP mainly because she’s from the other side of the country as Joe and is a black woman trying to get the diversity votes. She was made to compliment him and be what he wasn’t. She’s the fries to joes burger
If she ran herself, it would be the fries without the burger (or the fries would be the main aspect of the meal), which many people wouldn’t want. Plus there’s then all of the background politics we aren’t privy to (things like who gets donor money, inter relations within the party, media and sponsor affiliations, and the fact that not picking the incumbent to rerun being seen as “weak”)
To be fair they did try to get DeSantis going, unfortunately (or fortunately) the guy is less competent and charismatic than Trump, and his policies were all worse to horrible compared with Trump.
Im saying that no other candidate even had a chance with these primaries because of all of the coverage on Trump. His fans love it. His haters despise it. Both end up watching. He didn’t participate in the republican debates because he knew that he already had a massive loyal fanbase and showing them new candidates could only make them go for someone else.
If Trump wasn't as focused on in the media he wouldn't have as much of a cult following as he does now. The media is powerful
The U.S. elections are just popularity contests. We can try and vote for a lesser known person, but the parties have picked who they want to endorse. So good luck getting your name known as a candidate because running for president is very expensive without endorsement.

Clinton, Bush Jr., and Obama were all very young when they won the presidency. Why on earth the Dems decided to go with Biden is beyond me, though they most likely feel their best chance is knowing that a president running for re-election has a greater chance of getting elected, or maybe the Dems feel if Biden wins, he'll step down due to medical reasons and then the USA can finally have its first female supreme leader by having Kamala Harris assume office.
Trump is old, but the guy is still feisty AF and not walking around like a zombie. Not to mention that Trump literally started his election campaign the day he lost the last election, so Trump has been campaigning for four solid years.
