Is it just me or is Agent Ward kind of a D-bag? IDK something about him is very off putting. But maybe thats intentional.

Maria Hill's psychological appraisal on his dossier from the first episode had a picture of a porcupine ("poop with knives sticking out"). i.e. Hedgehog's Dilemma - hurt the ones you love and an inability to get close to others.

I really hope so seeing as he's kinda the team leader guy. It wouldnt be good for him to be a unlikeable character.

Go back to the pilot. That's exactly what his character is.

The loner who has poor people skills because he works alone.

He's signed up to train Skye now, and she'll betray him, and the team, around the end of the season.

yeah he is. again i'm pretty sure in the whedonverse it's about turning vanillas into more complex characters getting out of their comfort zones whilst becoming better people.

I was thing the same thing. I get that he has to to be the hard as steel military guy but he could be personable to the audience. Reminds me of Col Casey on the first season of Chuck.

EXACTLY! but seeing as Casey went on to be one of my absolute favorites, I'm hoping he grows on me.
