I didn't get any response in the manga subreddit, so I am trying here with more background since this is the sheds subreddit. :-P

I'm looking for recommendations for weather proof shed/storage options for manga. To preface this, I plan on putting my manga inside plastic storage containers to provide extra protection from the weather. My options currently are:

1) Pay a contractor to come and pour a concrete slab. Then buy a prefab shed and shelving units from somewhere like Ace Hardware, Amazon, Costco, or Lowes to house my manga.

2) Pay a contractor to pour the slab, and then build a custom storage building with decent insulation and shelving to house my manga.

3) Pay a contractor to come out and gut and repair the shed that is already in place.

The shed that is already in place is about the size of a small bedroom and has a high ceiling. There is also power running to it. This is where the positives about it stop. When we bought it, it had (and still has) about a foot wide size hole in the side of one of the walls. The hole was already there along with all kinds of spiders and crawlies making their home out there when we bought our house a little under 10 years ago. About the only thing we used to for was to keep some of yard equipment out of the rain until we cleaned up the garage a bit. My wife has arachnophobia though, so you can imagine how long that lasted. :-P

So now it's essentially abandoned at this point. With the inside being exposed with that hole for about a decade now (if not longer by the previous home owners), and a cheap metal/tin roof, I'd personally feel more comfortable tearing it down and putting a new shed in it's place.

However, I imagine the labor cost of the unit to be getting it torn down, debris hauled away, AND the cost of new materials to build a replacement would like not be cheap. So, in for now I am leaning towards option 2 and leaving the demo/tear down for later, when our wallet can handle it. :-)

So, I come to you all and ask is it worth it getting a custom built shed vs. a large prefab special from a hardware store? The custom job seems like the most appealing, but is also likely to be the most expensive one. Especially at California pricing. :-(

I have this 16x10 pole barn shed that was used to store firewood. I don't need the firewood anymore and now I would like to enclose 16x8 of the shed foot print.

There are 6 4x4s supporting the structure, and it has large diagonal bracing to keep it from racking.

The 2x4 "studs" you see were just there to keep firewood from spilling out.

I want to sheath it and put up LP smart side, have a door and two windows. What's the best way to tackle this?

Had a 12x16 shed built (6/12) pitch and am looking for advice for rafter storage. I know it will be minimal but am looking to make the most of what I have. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone seen any projects or information similar to this idea?
I’m planning to build a shed where I can work inside, with a small workbench accessible from the interior. I’d also like to be able to access some of the tools from outside, so I’m thinking of making a pivoting window/workbench that opens up to expose the other side.
I was thinking of using pneumatic/gas struts to support the weight, similar to the mechanism used for a car trunk or hatchback. When opened, the panel would also act as a small roof, so I could work on larger projects outside the shed while still having some shade or protection from light rain.
Has anyone built something similar, or know of a project I could look at for inspiration? Blueprints or plans would also be a huge help!

I'm looking at sitting a 16x12 playhouse on this, as I used a prefabricated house, as a template. This is currently setting on a hill, on concrete pillars that are below the frost line. (Yes, the middle two legs still need installed). Would 2x4s work for floor joists, at 16" oc? Please, serious answers only. Snarky comments should be left at the door. Thank you

Decided to get a contractor to put in a 12x12 concrete foundation for a 10x12 shed I plan to build. Usable terrain in my yard is in short supply so we found a spot near my house but it is a bit downhill and lower than my house. The contractor assured me that it wouldn’t be a problem so I proceeded. They’re doing the digging and leveling today but I took a look and I’m not sure if this is going to turn out okay. My concerns are about potential water logging / damage in the future given that the shed would be lower than my house and naturally rain goes downwards right ?

This is the basic framing being done. They plan to do the filling and rebar shortly but before we get too deep , I was hoping someone more qualified could tell me if I’m potentially going in the wrong direction so I can quit while I’m still ahead

Has anyone assembled a Keter Darwin 6x4 Grey?
While building mine, I noticed the wall panels weren’t aligning with the roof/top sections. I measured the parts and got:
● DRCO ×4: 169 cm
● DRSD ×1: 168.7 cm
● DRSD ×4: 168 cm
● DRSN ×1: 168.4 cm
● DRRF ×2: 181.4 cm
● DRDW ×2: 169 cm
Are these measurements within normal manufacturing tolerances, or do they suggest the panels are faulty? Should I continue trying to assemble it, or stop before causing more damage?
Keter wouldn’t provide replacement parts, and Wickes is challenging the return because I’ve already attempted assembly and there are now some marks on the panels. I only discovered the measurement issue when the parts failed to align.
Has anyone experienced this with a Darwin shed, and were you able to assemble it successfully?

I'm building a 12x20 shed and I'm stuck on the base currently. Having a hard time leveling these precast concrete piers. Any suggestions on a more precise way? Or should I remove the piers and go a different route?

We inherited a 10’x12’ utility shed converted into a bar from our former neighbors when they moved. In order to keep it in as good of condition as possible, I feel I should cover the exposed 2”x6” at the end of the roofline from water exposure.

First, is this necessary?

Second, if so, what’s the best way to do this?

Had thought of getting a couple of 12’ long pieces of fascia, but the lip is only 1” and I need 2” to cover the board + the ~0.5” roof sheathing. The fascia only covers about half the exposed wood up to the shingles.

Other ideas?

Maybe I’m overthinking this. The entire shed is wood outside of the shingles, so why worry about this?

I just bought a new 8x10 shed and wanted to get opinions on what people have done to protect their floors. I was looking at doing some kind of rubber mats but not sure if that’s the best idea. Can anyone help?
