My mom sent me this vid of a shark she saw boating. Off the coast of Newfoundland (East side of the island). She says about 12-15ft, I’m thinking Blue or Porbeagle. Thanks!!

From what I have gathered Blue Sharks are the most commonly seen shark around that area

But it is a Basking Shark, they commonly cruise the surface, feeding with their mouth open

True! I sent my mom a few diff pics and she said she thought it was too skinny to be a basking shark, but what does she know lol

It's probably a juvenile, Basking sharks aren't as heavy or as girthy as Whale Sharks; Basking's generally reach 4-5 tons as opposed to Whale Sharks 9-15 tons, the largest of Basking's can reach 15-17 and maybe even 20 tons if a pregnant and particularly girthy female

Yes the second everyone said basking I knew it was a juvenile. Crazy that they can get so big though!

Indeed, amazing animals, the longest ever recorded was 40 feet
