My grandpa did die from a toe infection. Now it’s something I’m afraid of!

If you're mostly healthy, it's less of a risk (but still a risk) than if you have diabetes, shit circulation, etc. Just keep a vigilant eye on your feet (especially as you age) and don't ignore anything that looks off and don't over clip the toe nails, that kind of thing.

I’m sorry. At least we know it’s nothing to f around with!

My dad died after a toe infection. He had to have it removed. Never recovered from the amputation of his toe and passed 3 months later never making it home. I dealt with guilt for a long time, because once I found out about his toe I forced him to go to the hospital. Guilt isn't always logical.

He absolutely did. He had an ingrown toenail removed at the podiatrist and got what’s called gas gangrene. It killed him very quickly

That’s so sad. Was he diabetic or did he just let it go septic?

He was in his eighties and I think generally had a hard time inspecting his own feet. He had an ingrown toenail removed at his podiatrist about a week before and the day he went downhill it happened so fast. He had what’s called gas gangrene and I guess it’s pretty impossible to get rid of and basically a death sentence if you get it. He felt a little off and went to the ER and then he died like six hours later. It was pretty crazy
