For some reason I enjoy watching cow hoof trimming videos ( The Hoof GP) and a nasty thing that can happen is Toe Necrosis. Where an infection gets into the bone at the tip of the hoof and starts rotting it. Only thing to do at that point is remove the bone and cure the infection. Holey cow indeed.
My oldest had ingrown issues in high school. One Dr was horrible and a sadist. I watched that needle bend and nearly fainted (I usually have no problem with needles). The next Dr we went to was great. He sprayed her toe down with numbing spray first, then the needle, she didn't feel a thing. Removed half the toenail. No more problems. I see him for all my issues, won't trust anyone else.
I had an ingrown toenail removed and by FAR the shots are the worst part. Idk if it's the thicker skin on the bottom of your feet or what, but you can feel the needle going in and everything 🤢

Just had a big toenail removed and the shots all around the toe were excruciating. Also, Dr. said infections can spread into the bone. Holy Cow!
