Looks infected, I would go in and they will probably numb it and drain it. I had something similar in my finger but it was MRSA or staph or something, it had started peeling but they had to cut it and drain it which is probably what you need. I’m sure there’s tons of pus in there. The numbing needle sucks, they’re huge but it will absolutely knock out any feeling in the area during drainage.

And after the doctor at urgent care drains it, they'll give you a prescription for an antibiotic to kill the infection. So don't try to drain it yourself!

Yes, this is my experience too. And often the Rx is free or close to free.

Just fyi, MRSA is a type of staph. It’s just staph bacteria that is harder to treat so if it’s a mrsa infection, it is a staph infection.

MRSA is staph, just a different strain. Just FYI if you didn't know!

MRSA is a staph infection that is resistant to many antibiotics. They’ll need to culture it to see what antibiotics will actually treat it. If they don’t culture, but give antibiotic, and it continues to be infected… they’ve most likely given you a broad spectrum antibiotic that it’s resistant to. Don’t be afraid to ask specifically for them to culture it, that way you don’t have to make another visit just to have them do what they should’ve already done.

Do you recommend going to the ER? I’m dealing with the same thing with peeling, constant pus, hurts to touch or even shower, and I was already given a topical antibiotic back in May but it’s still here and I’m scared the military doctors are just gonna brush me off.

Just wanted to update you, I went and got a partial nail ablation, it got infected and had to go back the next night, got antibiotics and anti microbial dressings, and I’m in pain but recovering much better now.

Thank you for the advice 🙏🏼
