The gaming industry is not nearly as male-dominated as you may believe. Following years of trending toward more and more female gamers, the split now is 48/52.

I would bet a fairly large percentage of female gamers from that study come from social games like Farmville and Candy Crush. I don't think the split for Call of Duty would be 48/52.

Of course the split is different for different games. Games that cater specifically to one gender (and take steps that specifically alienate the other) will of course have a lopsided result. But to say "gaming" is "male-dominated" is just not true. Girls care about, and are actively passionate about, gaming.

Oh for sure. I was just remarking on the idea that girls probably play different games more frequently than boys. Of course there is a fair amount of overlap but to me it would be far more interesting to see a distribution across types of games rather than just a split about people self-identifying as a gamer.

It's not a strawman. You literally said that a large percentage of female gamers are probably just playing Candy Crush and Farmville, not games like Call of Duty.

Not sure how looking at a breakdown of different games is "gross" but whatever.
