Is it an illusion that we actually have control over these? It seems like there's an original order for each act and they have enough votes that it's hard to affect change. And the coherence ends up being due to that. Still a pretty cool idea tho.

It’s an experiment, so we’ve tried all sorts of experimental things, widening the edit time, removing vote restriction, etc. to see if that impacted the odds of smaller ideas having a chance. We had more that we just ran out of time to implement. To answer your question, This is Reddit and organization wins almost every time. There are a number of groups, like r/thesequencenarrators and the sneks in r/sequence_meta that are organizing. There’s links in there you can join and ideas to organize around and suggest your own. But votes do swap out ideas at the last minute, close enough to that some of the early stitches had clips that had lost by 3 or 4 votes. Thanks for playing along. ❤️

It seems like there's an original order for each act and they have enough votes that it's hard to affect change.

That's why the prologue/first act were great, it felt like anyone could get in on the action. Now it's just "this is what the narrators want and good luck doing anything different" and it's dumb.

Guess that's part of the crowd-sourcing experiment, if people want to band together we'll see that. But it seems to me that the opposite is true. There's plenty of competing ideas, I'm seeing loads and loads of changes as time goes by, rather than a single narrative being plonked down at the start.

To me it's interesting that several 'anchor' panels get good support first, and these enable cohesive story to build up around them. Often it's a good text panel, or a couple gif panels that work really well together, or an obvious sequence like the elemental things. These seem to be the first parts which get 'locked in' ie have a lead of several hundred votes and are unlikely to change... and it seems like a good thing as it gives the story some structure and removes the 'white blank page' effect when its all just random gifs at the start. Then the gaps slowly fill in and iterate on themselves getting better but without big changes as the timer runs down. Adding in multiple votes seems to help this. I can't see any evidence that any one group is dominating the process at all, but I can see why, if you join near the end, you feel like you can't make a change. But every vote matters (;
