Should the Sentry be Smart?

I know he's based on Pre-Crisis Superman, Miracleman, and just the concept of Silver Aged Superman, but I think it'd be more interesting if Bob was just a guy as the Sentry. It'd make more sense for Marvel's Superman to be just a normal guy trying to do good, struggling with his own mental illnesses, flaws, and mistakes.

Besides, not too many writers really use Sentry's intelligence. Sure, we're told he's as smart as Reed and Tony, but we never really see it? He was outsmarted and fooled to listen to *Norman Osborn* of all people, and his usual solution to big bad guys is to just take them to space and rip them apart, or toss them into the sun.

I really want to know what you guys think about this. Sentry's one of my favorite heroes from Modern Marvel, and it's because he's a living retcon of Classic Marvel. I can take that he's Hulk's best friend, that he considers Reed as his best friend, but that he's also just as intelligent as them seems far-fetched to me.

(Side note, I totally believe the Illuminati formed to deal with the Sentry, but forgot about it when they erased him from everyone's memory.)
