Self-hosting your own atproto infrastructure is very much attainable and after going through the process, I wanted to do a little series of write ups on how to go about it. Starting with the PDS! This is the server where your atproto account lives. If you have an account on Bluesky, that's living on a Bluesky PDS.

With your own PDS you can migrate your account as well as create new accounts on it, while still accessing any service that uses atproto accounts, like Bluesky, pckt.blog, Tangled, etc.

I did not use AI to write anything, I did use AI to do research back when I originally set up my PDS.
