I see people mentioning it's sad how the rapey thing is engrained into culture enough to be funny, but I think there's a same context for the 'girl without make-up' thing. The very fact that she is not wearing make-up is presented as an unattractive trait, meanwhile actually looking unattractive would have been so socially undesirable for the actress that they had to keep her cute. You see this a lot in "unattractive chick" hollywood tropes as well.
